uvasag Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 I'm looking at hotels on hotwire and like this one. $75 per room per night : Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville area Hotel But I have kids and would really like a hotel with free breakfast. Is there anyway of knowing which hotel provides free breakfast ? Also, any criteria I should enter for a hotel with free breakfast to show up. My budget is around $100 a night so whatever star hotel fits the bill. Thanks.
AaronJB Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 Good morning. Please provide your date/s of travel. If a hotel offers free breakfast, a free breakfast icon will show on HOTWIRE in the listing. There are not all that many hotels with free breakfast in Chicago. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

The only one I can find is Chicago Loop area Hotel @ $139 per night. It is a 3 star hotel. Can you help identify the hotel please ?
uvasag Posted April 20, 2010 Author Report Posted April 20, 2010 Why isn't this hotel showing up in my search ? 3.5* Chicago (Mag Mile-Streeterville) Embassy Suites Chicago Lakefront, $99 . Somebody posted this on the msg board and it has free breakfast.
AaronJB Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 Only one hotel shows up at each star rating in each zone for each set of dates. The ES does not look to be showing on these dates.I'm seeing a 3* w/breakfast, fitness, pool, business, laundry, internet for $139 in the Loop on these dates when I search for 2 adults/2 children. That would likely be the La Quinta, which is not very well located - from a tourist perspective - in the Loop.I'd FAR rather suggest the 3.5* Mag Mile/Streeterville property for the same dates for $65 w/fitness, breakfast, internet, restaurant, pool. This is likely the Doubletree. You would be spending significantly less per night, and there's tons of breakfast options nearby that won't cost you as much as the difference between this listing and the potential La Quinta. The potential Doubletree would be a nearly $75 per night savings over the La Quinta - that $75 will cover breakfast and you would almost certainly still have money left over. Plus, the Doubletree would be a far better location.Overall, the 3.5* Mag Mile would, without question, be what I'd recommend and with the money saved you could try a different restaurant for breakfast each day. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
uvasag Posted April 20, 2010 Author Report Posted April 20, 2010 Thank you. I will use the link to book and will update this thread once I book a hotel.

uvasag Posted April 22, 2010 Author Report Posted April 22, 2010 Just booked Doubletree @ $65 a night. Dates 05/07/10 - 05/11/10 . Used the HOTWIRE link to book. As always thank you for all the help. Please edit the title of this post as I couldn't figure out how to.
AaronJB Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Congratulations on your success. :)So glad to hear you were able to take advantage of the Doubletree deal, which is a fantastic price for a really nice hotel (in a great location, too.) Additionally, there's a VERY nice grocery store on the opposite corner from the hotel (a huge Dominicks) and you could definitely find breakfast items there, too (as well as cheaper snacks.) There is also the lovely Fox and Obel Gourmet Market and Cafe a couple of blocks away at Illinois/McClurg - their cafe serves a very nice breakfast/lunch/dinner menu. There's also a Corner Bakery at 676 N. St Clair, which is just a short walk North of the hotel. Additionally, while not guaranteed, some rooms at this property have fairly nice views of the surrounding area.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and for using the site's HOTWIRE link.Enjoy your stay.
uvasag Posted April 23, 2010 Author Report Posted April 23, 2010 Thank you Aaron for the tips. I also read that the hotel has Einstein bagels stand in the lobby. My kids love their bagels and we might be able to take them upto our room for a convinient breakfast. Grocery store across the street helps since I'll need milk at least.
AaronJB Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 Happy to help! If you have any other questions, please let me know. A couple of links:Dominicks Grocery: http://www.dominicks.com/IFL/Grocery/HomeFox & Obel Menu: http://www.fox-obel.com/cafeEinstein definitely has great bagels, and it being inside the hotel couldn't be more convenient. If the weather is iffy, there is also a giant multiplex and bowling alley one block South, then half a block West on Illinois. Also, a fun idea is if you wanted to eat breakfast outside, you could walk to Navy Pier - about a 3-5 minute walk East - and eat breakfast while looking out at the city/water.
