LoneStar Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 Just a heads up that both Aloha and Hawaiian have just resumed discounting on their intra-Hawaiian flights. If you book directly from their websites, and plan at least a couple weeks in advance, most flights to and from Honolulu can be had for $69 one-way.It's not the greatest deal in the world, but of late intra-Hawaiian airfares have been very expensive -- at least if you consider how short most of these flights are. The discounted seats had been north of $85 one-way.Given these fare levels, it's can obviously be advantageous to minimize intra-Hawaiian flights by flying nonstop to the Big Island, Maui or Kauai from the mainland, or at least getting the intra-island flights included in your mainland airfare.Another trick is to use frequent flyer mileage for the intra-island flight. United is currently only charging its members 5,000 miles for a roundtrip intra-island flight on its partner Aloha, which is a steal (you can even usually even earn 10,000 or 15,000 United points just by signing up for their credit card). Do it while you can, because I see Northwest is raising its 5,000 mile intra-island award on Hawaiian to 10,000 miles effective at the end of March.
