Included 4* and made subsequent bid for $43 which was accepted by the Amari Watergate.

Doesn't make sense, does this happen often?

The hotel was remodeled few years ago. I checked in late and they ran out of room, so I got free upgrade to suite but older room (was not remodeled yet).

They did not get the confirmation from Priceline, it took many e-mails & phone calls to Priceline & to Hotel (long distance to thailand) to resolve it.

But $43 is a great deal!

This win was back in May/June of this year... not sure of the star rating at that time, but this property is currently 5* rated by PRICELINE.

looks like a free "upgrade" to 5star... while the 4star Courtyard in this zone is superior to the "5star" Amari, IMHO

happened to me, too, last time when trying to get the CY.. ended up with an "upgrade" to the Amari on PL

Amari Watergate don't even get 4 star imho...
