aslavetofashion Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 Hi - I hope you can help me. I just discovered this board and think it is wonderful. I was bidding on a RESORT in Fort Lauderdale beach area on Priceline. The only RESORT listed on Priceline in Fort Lauderdale is the Harbor Beach Marriott. I bid $150, $170 and my husband bid $200 from his work account over the last couple of days. Since I am hoping to stay at that specific hotel, I don't want to change the locale or star level. I was beginning to get discouraged until I went on priceline today and the home page said "Big Deal Days - see winning hotel bids before you negotiate" I put in Fort Lauderdale. At the top of the page was RESORT hotel in Fort Lauderdale with a win at $175 and a link to book it at that price. Is it the Harbor Beach Marriott? I promise to use the PRICELINE link to book this but am anxious about them slipping in a replacement hotel. Does that ever happen?Anne AaronsonGo Blue!! (My son is at Michigan) :)
thereuare Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 The only RESORT listed on Priceline in Fort Lauderdale is the Harbor Beach Marriott... but am anxious about them slipping in a replacement hotel. You can't use the "retail" version of PRICELINE to determine which hotel(s) you will get when bidding... each arm of their service uses a different universe of hotels. See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ for more info on this subject. The Marriott is the only Resort class property reported to the board in this zone, but as per the comments at the top of the Priceline Hotel List, there could be others and you could be the first to report a new property to the board. At the top of the page was RESORT hotel in Fort Lauderdale with a win at $175 and a link to book it at that price. You're still placing a bid at $175 and it is not determined if PRICELINE will accept this price or not. The $175 rate can be for dates other than your own, and at this point in the process PRICELINE doesn't even know what dates you are seeking, so there is no way for them to suggest a price at which you would be successful.I promise to use the PRICELINE link to book this... I bid $150, $170 and my husband bid $200 from his work account over the last couple of days. Thanks for using the PRICELINE link on the board to begin your bidding... please ask your husband to do the same if/when he places bids.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
