I am looking to book either the Omni Downtown or Hyatt Mission Bay for 8/1/10-8/3/10. Any suggestions on how do go about this the best way?

Best way would be to go with HOTWIRE... try to do a HOTWIRE search for your dates and see if there are any matches to what has previously been reported in the San Diego Hotwire Hotels (but note that there may be multiple properties with the same amenity combination, so no guarantees)

I ended up getting the W San Diego for $85/night. I was hoping for the Omni.

You can't claim that you don't like the hotel etc with the insurance. You need to have a doctors note that your sick etc. Everything is the rules for the insurance.

I've never taken or made a claim on the insurance, but i suspect it would take 4-8 weeks for you to get your money back on a valid claim... this information should be noted in the terms of the insurance. Currently listed from PRICELINE:

Claims should be submitted within 90 days of incurring the covered loss, or as soon thereafter as reasonably possible. The majority of claims will be processed within 30 days after Stonebridge Casualty Insurance Company receives all supporting documentation from you.

Do you already intend to be sick for this trip?? :)
