I am planning to go to NYC from 5/14-5/23

got a $150 per night (I think it should cost way less...a terrible mistake for my first bid ever) for Club Quarters Wall Street from 5/14-5/16

a $100 per nigh for Marriott New York Downtown

I've seen some successful bid from 5/20-23 for 4* with good price

however, I have no luck to get the same deal through the PRICELINE link on this site.

probably because I am just a newcomer...

I've tried to split the time into 5/17-5/20 and 5/20-23

anything from 3.5*-4*(preferred) is acceptable

and would prefer MTW, MTE, TS, ESB, and CPS

I can accept up to 150 per night in necessary

Please help with any suggestions any step by step strategy would be perfect.

Thanks!!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

It's not clear from your post... you have won the Club Quarters for 5/14-5/16... did you also win the Marriott for some other date(s)??

Please post your win(s) to the board, using a separate thread for each win, as this will allow others to find your wins when searching the topic titles on the board, as well as enable each to have its own thread in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins.

Then reply to this thread and we'll have a look at the above and help with the balance of your stay.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Thanks.

As mentioned above I have some place to stay from 5/14-5/16 (my priceline win)

still working on 5/17-5/23

trying to get something in 4* or 3.5* for MTW, ESB, MTE(try to avoid 3.5*) and CPS(try to avoid 3.5*)

I can accept up to $150 per night if necessary.

Thank you very much!

For the week nites and/or balance of your stay i think you're going to have to increase your budget or lower your star rating. Since you're not interested in the CPS or MTE zones at the 3.5* level, how about a 3.5* in the CPS, MSG, or similar nearby zones?

In such situation, I guess I can acept MTW(4*, 3.5*), ESB(4*, 3.5*), TS(4*, 3.5*), MTE (4*, 3.5*), CPS(4*)

How much more should I increase my budget if I want to focus on 4* but aviod getting a 3.5* too far from a resonable price.

For CPS 3.5* and MSG 3.5* they will be my last choice if I really have no other option.

Could you provide me with some more specific steps I can give it a try (of course through the PRICELINE links on the borad :) ).

Thanks a lot!

What is more important... star rating or zone? Did you first want to try for a 4* hotel in any of the zones you've listed above where a 4* hotel is acceptable, then if rejected try for a 3.5* in any of the acceptable 3.5* zones... OR did you first want to try for a 4* or 3.5* in the MTW zone, if that is rejected try for a 4* or 3.5* in the ESB zone, etc, etc?

Also, note that at the 3.5* level in the MTE zone there are hotel(s) which are about a 15 minute walk to the subway, is this ok?

For a 4* hotel i'm guessing you may be looking at $185-$225+... HOTWIRE has a 4* in the ESB zone for $219/nite, but it has not yet been identified, so no telling if it is equivalent to a 3.5* or a 4* on PRICELINE?

I'll prefer star rating to zones

so far I've trited all the 4* in the zones I mentioned above from 5/17-5/23, 5/17-5/20, 5/18-5/22 from $150 up to $170 ($5 dollar interval by adding a bunch of the zones without 4*). no luck at all.

I then began to try 3.5* for all the zones I mentioned from 5/17-5/23, 5/17-5/20, 5/18-5/23 from $150 up to $165 ($5 interval) however, no luck still.

I guess after thses tries I need to focus on the zones first.

You would still be making the same bids, only in a different order... so i don't think that will ultimately change anything.

HOTWIRE has what i believe to be the Ramada New Yorker for $175/nite which would be just a bit more than you've already bid, but would give you the complete stay at one hotel and not have to change hotels again mid-trip. While this property is only 3* rated on PRICELINE (it's a 3.5* on HOTWIRE) the reviews have been very good since their recent renovation... would this work for your needs?

bid up to $180 for 4* and 3.5* in MTW, ESB, TS, chelsea for 5/17-5/23 still no luck...

then I split my stay into 5/20-5/23 for MTW, ESB, TS, CPS for 4* and 3.5*...got S175 per night for Hudson hotel

However, the reviews on tripadvisor are kind of terrifying...that actually made me hesitate for a while. but, I just need to check it out to see if that's really the case at the moment I guess.

The Hudson's reviews are similar to many W properties - the Hudson is a very trendy boutique property and very much a "scene". The rooms are definitely on the small side (although that's not unheard of in NYC), but I think either visitors are into the whole scene of the hotel or not. If not, I think those who paid full price for a small room and a scene they don't care for probably don't have their expectations met.

Thank you for using the site's PRICELINE link and sharing the results of your bid.

We'll use this thread for the 5/20-23 stay; please start a new thread for your 5/17-20 stay.
