carolynw0712 Posted April 12, 2010 Report Posted April 12, 2010 Hi guys i need your help! im going to nyc april 29-may 1 and i was hoping to get a hotel in the chelsea area or empire state building area. I have started my bid at 80$ for 2* hotel.rejected. then went up and now im at $ 105 for 2* or 2.5* in either of these areas. I have not been successful even though I am bidding what half of the median price is.What would you guys suggest i do next? Thanks for any help!
AaronJB Posted April 12, 2010 Report Posted April 12, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Please provide your desired max bid per night, and which zones you are interested in bidding for (only Chelsea/ESB?)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!I'll first comment that i don't typically recommend the lower rated hotels in NYC... while there may be some hotels at the 2* rating which you'd be fine with, there may be other which you wouldn't be, and with PRICELINE / HOTWIRE you can't choose which type you will get. With the above noted, i would consider other nearby zones.I'll also add that if you're using the median price supplied by PRICELINE in the box next to where you enter your bid, that number is not very useful to determine the price you should bid... what is the best available rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel thru conventional booking channels? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
carolynw0712 Posted April 15, 2010 Author Report Posted April 15, 2010 Hi thanks for the reply, My max bid would probabaly be around 130 a night, I want either the chelsea, empire or midtown east area, I have had no luck though :)
carolynw0712 Posted April 15, 2010 Author Report Posted April 15, 2010 Thanks for replying, what other nearby areas would you suggest? Im looking to do shopping near 34th street and I figured the chelsea, Empire or midtown east area were the closest, any other suggestions? I changed my bid to a 3* at $110 and still have had no luck
AaronJB Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 MSG-Convention may also be worth considering, although I'd check out the PRICELINE map for the area so that you could confirm the area would work well for your travel plans. Is your budget $130 "all-in" (taxes/fees included), or $130 + taxes?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
