Used this site's PRICELINE link to bid on a 3* hotel in Lancaster West. Tried for a few days starting with bids at $45, $50, and $53 - I always waited 24 hours as Lancaster West was the only area I was interested in. I figured I'd win the Marriott at Penn Square for $55 as that was what was won recently. I was shocked to see I had gotten the Eden Resort - this reservation was for my sister as she's getting married at the Eden Resort this August and I wanted her to stay the night in the area this weekend as she and her fiance look for their wedding vendors. What a fantastic win. Couldn't have worked out better. :)

Here's the cost summary:

Room Cost (avg. per room, per night):$55.00 (USD)

Number of Rooms:1

Number of Nights:1

Room Subtotal:$55.00 (USD)

Taxes and Fees:$13.90 (USD)

Total Room Cost:$68.90 (USD)

I can't say enough how much I love this site. :)

Congratulations on your success!

Glad to see this worked out so well for your sister... looks like you'll still be invited to the wedding! :)

I'd have your sister call her contact person at the hotel ahead of time and let them know of her arrival, as they may offer some sort of upgrade or complimentary amenity given she has booked the wedding there.

Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.

Hope they enjoy their stay.

:) Ugh! So I booked this room for my sister and her fiance and thought I got a great deal for them - never even expecting to get the Eden Resort. Unfortunately, they had a terrible experience. When they checked in, they were given a smoking room. As neither of them smoke, and are both bothered by the smell of smoke, they requested at that time for a non-smoking room. They were told that there were no non-smoking king rooms available at the time and that, for whatever reason, the only rooms booked through Priceline were smoking rooms. The front desk person said that this was an issue they were having all week. Really? This is an issue? Then maybe the Eden should have reserved some non-smoking rooms instead...

Anyway, my sister and her fiance were told that they could have housekeeping try to mask the odor with deodorizer (which wasn't an option for my sister as she's allergic to a lot of fragrances) or they could try to do some type of ozone filtering to the room but it would take about an hour for the treatment. This option was also declined because they were checking in after 7pm and were exhausted from a day of traveling and appoinments. If they had opted for the filtering, it would put them close to 9pm before they would get their room, with no guarantees that it had any effect on the smokiness of the room. I'm a litte astounded they weren't offered an upgrade (it needn't have been complimentary, they would've paid extra for it for a non-smoking room). Instead, they were basically told that as Priceline customers, they're stuck with the smoking room and they weren't willing to budge. It's quite unfortunate that this is their first experience with this hotel - especially given the fact that they will be having their wedding reception at the Eden this summer and spending a lot more money than the $55 paid for this one reservation.

Sorry to hear this stay didn't go too well... i'm not sure if a non-smoking room was available, but if one was, this is pretty poor service for a guest holding their wedding at this location in the future (although i'll also add that the hotel is within their right to only offer a smoking room)
