noefresh
I'm looking to get a couple of rooms in Phoenix for New Years via Hotwire. When I ask for one room I get offered a nice 4-star hotel for $90. When I ask for two rooms it doesn't appear. If I try to buy the two rooms one at a time will I get hosed? Link to comment
bbbb
Theres a good chance that Hotwire only has one room at the hotel you are seeing. If you buy one room at a time, you might get another hotel the 2nd time. What zone and date are you seeing this? Link to comment

noefresh
Done- we ended up doing a direct reservation through the Venetian for that Vegas trip. This new one is for 2 rooms and a 2-night stay in Phoenix 12/31/05-1/02/06.-Noah Link to comment
thereuare
Which area of Phoenix are you searching? What is the star rating, amenities, and price of the 'cheap' option when you search for one nite? What about for 2 nites? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
noefresh
I can get a 3-star for 60 or 85- both in Central Phoenix Inner. But not the four star for $98 I get when searching for one room. Argh- Catch-22. Link to comment
thereuare
This hotel doesn't show availability even when searching for one room on the sole nite of 12/31... it only appears when searching for the multi-nite stay of 12/31-1/2.As expected, the nite of 12/31 is the difficult date, and there is no telling if it will still be offered for a second room after you make a one room purchase.Do you have a guess as to the identity of this 4* hotel? It looks to be the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa, and given the rates on their website, this may be a hotel that doesn't offer much inventory to the opaque suppliers or only offers it in small (one room) quantities. noefresh
Yep good guess or maybe Pointe at Squaw Peak- either of which would totally rock but not if we had to split our group into two hotels. Would it be more likely they only give one room at a time to Hotwire or that they have only one room in total? This has come up for me consistently since Friday 12/16. Link to comment
thereuare
No way of knowing... if you don't want to stay in two hotels then don't chance it.Make sure the amenities match exactly when you try to figure out the hotels. bbbb
Have you tried to bid this on Priceline? There are 3 resorts that we know come up in the north Phx zone (Hilton Tapatio,Hilton squaw peak and JW Marriott) You have 7 free rebids @ the resort level. I would start at $70. What are you going to be doing while in town? Is this the only acceptable area? Link to comment
noefresh
Good idea- area is not super important more price and quality. I'll give it a shot.-Noah Link to comment
noefresh
Went up to 130 on resort and 121 on 4-star. Didn't get it. Going to try again a little later.-Noah Link to comment
bbbb
I was just looking at Hiltons site and both resorts are now sold out. After looking at the vacation packages I also think the 4* that you are seeing is the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa. What a steal that resort would be for a $100 a night. It is a very nice resort in a very nice area of town.Hotwire has a 3.5* @ $86 downtown that I am about 99% sure is the Hyatt Regency. Its a 3* on Priceline and has been almost a sure thing to get this hotel since the Holiday Inn was down graded. I have stayed here many times and its a nice hotel. Link to comment
noefresh
For 2 rooms all I got offered was $119 for a 3.5* Downtown Phoenix. It's the Wyndham Phoenix. All in all not too bad. Thanks for the extra help. :) Link to comment

bbbb
You are going to be there on a weekend and you should be able to find free street parking. I have never had a problem finding a spot with in a few blocks of this hotel. If not there are garages all around that should be cheaper then the hotel. Keep in mind that they won't have in and out privledges. Link to comment
