lvsigchi
$20 trick worked - I got upgraded from a standard room to a Spa Villa Suite. I half-way expected them to show up and tell me they gave us the wrong room. Well worth the $20. Link to comment

Colfax
The $20 TrickIt's about offering a tip to the desk clerk to get an upgraded room. Mostly it's a Vegas thing but sometimes works in other cities too. Link to comment
peakay
$20 trick worked - I got upgraded from a standard room to a Spa Villa Suite. I half-way expected them to show up and tell me they gave us the wrong room. Well worth the $20.Congrats - that's a huge upgrade! The standard rooms are pretty crappy and the Spa villas are very nice. I paid about $300 a night for one of those once on my wife's birthday. We have not been going out to La Quinta since Hyatt Grand Champions seems to not be doing Priceline anymore. I would go out in a heartbeat if I thought we could get the spa villa for the PL price. Any tips on the approach there, desk agents, etc.?Thanks. Link to comment
