Bid $50 for 3* - Rejected (but was offered free rebid if I raised bid to $65)

Bid $40 for 2.5* - Rejected

Bid $30 for 2* - Rejected

Waited 24 hours

Repeated the 50/40/30 sequence, but each bid was rejected

Waited 24 hours (was told that average price for 3* was $97--which was a change from previous days-- so I lowered by initial bid)

Bid $45 for 3* - Rejected

Bid $42 for 2.5* - Rejected

Bid $33 for 2* - Rejected

Waited 24 hours (was told that average price for 3* was $123)

Bid $52 for 3* - Accepted by Hotel Indigo

Based on previously accepted bids, I figured that I could get the Hotel Indigo for something in this price range. I stayed at Microtel Inn last year at this time (with a winning bid of $30), and I would have been pleased to pay that amount again. However, I also decided that I would "splurge" and pay the additional money this time if my bid for a 3* was accepted. Although I enjoy the gambling/bidding aspect of Priceline, I was also getting tired of trying to save $2-$3, and that is why I increased my initial bid today.
