pastoralia
I used the HOTWIRE link and bid on a downtown Milwaukee hotel for 9/9-9/12. I was hoping I'd get the Iron Horse where I've stayed many, many times before at full price (not cheap but worth it). I got the Intercontinental instead which is in a good area and close to local bars, restaurants. I've never stayed there before but it looks very nice. Still...I wish it was the Iron Horse since the staff knows me and I could have possibly got an upgrade. I'll have to work some charms at the Intercontinental since when I've booked through hotwire or priceline before in other cities they tend to give you a crappy room with a view of a parking lot. pastoralia
Intercontinental was very nice. I got a huge room (more space than I really needed) with a large bedroom and then a separate room with two couches and another flat-screen TV. Great bar/restaurant in hotel and right downtown within walking distance of other high and low end restaurants and bars. Only drawback? No refrigerator in the room. You need a refrigerator for all that Wisconsin beer and cheese. Swanky and cool. Link to comment
