mmh8
I initially bid $60 for San Diego 4* Coastal. My bid was rejected and priceline requested that I raise my bid by $17. Instead of raising by $17 I added San Diego 4* Coronado and raised my price to $65. That offer was accepted.Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines San Diego Coastal10950 North Torrey Pines Road La Jolla, California 92037 858-558-1500Check-In Date: Sat, Feb 12, 2005 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sun, Feb 13, 2005 Check-Out Time: 11:00 AM Your Offer Price: $65.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $65.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $14.93 Total Charges: $79.93 Link to comment

tomjonesrocks
I tried this for the dates of 3/17-3/20, and it didn't work for me. Nor did I get an offer to raise my bid by $17. In fact I tried $70 and $75 as well in the same areas and both those were refused. Disappointing. Link to comment
djohannw
Well, as always rates fluctuate due to demand, and as rates are pretty low for the day the OP bid (and it is the slowest day of the week for this hotel, and it is rather "last minute"), he was successful for the low amount mentioned. For your dates regular rates are substantially higher (179$ vs. 139$), and so you probably just bid too little to be successful right now. Hotels do have multiple tiered rates that are available through Priceline, and they can vary nightly - just because someone got a room for X$ on a certain night does not mean you will get this rate year-round.Also there is the possibility that the hotel has just not released any rooms to Priceline, and all other 4*-hotels in that zone either have not either or charge higher rates. E.g. I have bid the same zome up to 90$ recently for 2/18-23 without even a counteroffer...Greetings - Dirk Link to comment
