Can't say for certain, but given the TA match, i would guess that the InterContinental is the good possibility. If you want to mitigate the risk somewhat you can see if this hotel appears for both the first (or last) nite of your stay and then again for the balance. If so, you could purchase the solo nite in order to 'look behind the curtain' and confirm the name of the hotel and its one that you're happy with... if so go ahead and purhase the additional nites, if not, make alternate plans for the balance of your stay.

Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.

I have stayed at the IC Madrid on several occasions and can not imagine that they have been downgraded as it is a true international standard 5 star hotel. In Spain, hotels themselves decide if they want to be a 5 star hotel and only need to meet the facility requirements and they pay an additional tax.

My best guess would be that this one is the Hesperia Madrid which is just up from the Intercontinental.

The AC Santo Mauro would be highly unlikely.
