Priceline Hotel: San Francisco 4* 5/6-5/10 in USE or USW

I want to book a room in San Francisco 4* 5/6-5/10 in USE or USW. We are 2 adults and 2 children (one age 5 other infant under 1). Most of these hotels appear to have only king and double/double rooms -- both of which are fine for us. Is there a big risk of trouble if we proceed with priceline rather than hotwire? Prices appear to be considerably less ($75-80 vs. $110) on priceline vs. hotwire.

The main issue I can see is if you get a room with a double bed or a queen - awfully tight for three people, even if one is a 5-year old child. In San Francisco, this is a possiblity - not all rooms with one bed have a king. For this reason, HOTWIRE may be a more practical option, even if it is a bit more expensive. If you have 3-4 people, they will guarantee 2 beds. Also check specials on Travelzoo and HOTWIRE Travel Ticker right now. I also just got an email from Kimpton about an $81 rate. It's valid on Thurs-Sun through September and you might have to be an in-touch member, but that's simple enough. Kimpton Hotels are nice, so it's worth looking into and booking conventionally at that rate!

Looks like they have availability at some of the San Francisco Kimptons, but only when I selected 2 adults. Maybe you can call and get them to work with you for the first night and the two younguns.

It's an $81 rate for Kimpton In-Touch members only. Good from Thurs-Sun April - Sept 6th. Book by April 6th. The promo code is BORN. Most SF hotels are participating. I wonder if they will only do it for a room with one bed....?

Just an FYI--While I wouldn't bid for a 4-star in USE and USW if I was traveling my kids, I'd be fine bidding in the Embarcadero zone. From what I can tell, all the 4-stars there have rooms with two beds. I did that when I visited SF last December and shared a room with a friend. (I wouldn't do that for USE because of the possibility of getting the St. Francis which often makes you pay an "upgrade" to get two beds. And I'm not comfortable in the USW area, because of its proximity to the Tenderloin.) If you have kids, don't bid 3-star in the Embarcadero because you might get the Harbor Court--which is a nice little hotel in a great location, but the rooms are one-bed and tiny. I'm partial to the Embarcadero because I used to work there and it's very easy to get around (and I love the waterfront and the renovated Ferry Building.)
