Priceline Hotel: question about stratosphere

Hello,

On 4-6 july we want to go to las vegas. On the internet we are looking for nice hotels for good prices. We saw the Stratosphere hotel. We like this hotel becouse it is high and there are a few thrill rides on the roof :)

Is the stratosphere a good hotel? Is the place okay?

your best bet is to check out the reviews on tripadvisor.com, you don't have to be a guest to ride the rides.

the location is at the far north end of the strip making it inconvenient to visit other properties on foot, and I've heard that the rooms are a bit run down.

I agree that the location is a bit inconvenient. You can go down the strip or to Downtown on the Deuce economically enough, but Deuce service can be very slow (due to the traffic) and sporadic (often more than 30 minutes between buses). And, it's quite a way around to cross Las Vegas boulevard to/from stops on the other side. Taxi fares would really add up.

We had a dinner reservation there for Top of the World, which we ended up cancelling because of the "distant" location from mid-strip. We had been there a few days prior, following a visit to Sahara, and the next Deuce was about 45 minutes and very crowded (with a long, long line waiting to board by that time) and it was a very slow ride back to mid-strip, with waits at traffic signals through many cycles.
