genx
How are the 4* in this area? how do they compare to Intercont. San Francisco... I believe that available on Hotwire for 125 a night (gym, swimming, restaurant, business and internet).GenX Link to comment
Colfax
How are the 4* in this area? how do they compare to Intercont. San FranciscoThat's an impossible question to answer. Almost two dozen different 4* hotels have been reported won in Downtown SF on Priceline, ranging from stately and ornate turn-of-century hotels to sleek, modern highrise hotels like the Intercontinental that opened less than a year ago. There's a big range in styles and feeling.I think you can win a 4* on Priceline for less than $125 and possibly less than $100. I doubt you'll win the Intercontinental for under $100 though, and it's impossible to predict which hotel you'll get. (I presume you're asking about the new IC in SOMA-Moscone zone, not the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins in USW.)You can improve your chances of winning the Intercontinental on Priceline by only bidding for a 4* in the SOMA-Moscone zone. I'd suggest bidding from about $85 to $120. But there are other 4* in that zone that could come up too.If you definitely want the IC then I'd purchase it on Hotwire, as $125 is a very good price for that hotel. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links and let us know what you get. genx
We are leaning towards being able to walk around and take public transportation, is this area pretty central or there one area more central?GenX Link to comment
Colfax
Any 4* in any Downtown zone will be in a walkable area near public transportation. The furthest you might land from a BART station is about six blocks, and probably you'll be closer than that. Link to comment
genx
what is the likelyhood that either san fran ic or marriot will come up when bidding on a 4*.... I know there is a chance of the westin too... kind of sucks.. Link to comment
Colfax
It's impossible to quote odds for a particular hotel showing up on Priceline. Five 4* hotels have been reported in SOMA-Moscone and you could win any of them. Link to comment
thereuare
If you're going to use PRICELINE you need to be prepared/willing to receive any hotel in the zone at the minimum star rating you select. If there are hotels in the zone you are trying to target, or avoid, pay a little more and use HOTWIRE if/when you're able to take a reasonable guess as to the property being offered. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
