1. Booked with Canadian dollars: Room $147.99, Taxes and fees $37.79, 12SUMMEROFF discount in Canadian dollars $16.29, Total $169.48. Converting to US dollars, corresponding numbers would be: $109, $27.84, $12 for a total of $124.84. Listed amenities: Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Indoor pool(s), Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Golf nearby, Spa services As usual started with Betterbidding's HOTWIRE link.
2. Pre-purchase the amenities were pets allowed, free internet parking and breakfast, business, pool, fitness, non-smoking.
3. Used BB's PRICELINE link. Found what I thought was this hotel on Express for $55 per night on a Friday and Saturday night (Much cheaper on weekends because it is a "hot spot for high-tech, biotech and IT companies"). Tried with bids of $47 and $50, rejected with no counter offers. So I took the $55 PRICELINE EXPRESS deal and used the BB discount. Thought it was a good deal for a 3 star with an 8+ rating. $55 x 2 = $110 +$22.78 - $5.50 BB discount = $127.28. Amenities: Free Breakfast Free Internet (in Room) Free Parking Pet Friendly Outdoor Pool Spa Non-Smoking Gym Restaurant Handicap Accessible Business Center
4. Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower Currently indicating: thumbs up - 8 out of 10 Good (60 reviews) ; tripadvisor 3.5 circles (501 - 1000 reviews)
5. Used BB's HOTWIRE link for this hotel because close to train station to San Diego and bus stop to La Jolla: Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Near beach, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Golf nearby
6. thereuare - Looks like the fact that they have gone from 3 stars to 3 1/2 stars has been used as justification to jack their resort fee to $27 per night, and based on my charges, a tax on the top of that. Probably the amount listed under PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals should be updated to reflect this change.
7. My fault for not checking that the Stratosphere had been upgraded from a 3 star to 3.5 star, so I am quite disappointed in the location. Annoying resort fee though less than most. 27.00 x 3 = 81 + taxes and fees of 17.13 = 98.13; Mandatory fee of $83.97 is collected at the hotel. Total - $182.10. Used BB's PRICELINE link as usual.
8. Amenities: free parking, business center, free internet, free breakfast, pool, fitness, bed choice available, Save 22% or more, $105 reduced to $83.
9. I was looking for a 2.5* or better, relatively inexpensive accommodation with free parking, internet and breakfast, walking distance to the ocean and to shopping, and close enough to a Torrey Pines hotel for a meeting that I could get to using public transportation rather than having to park at the hotel's ridiculously expensive rate. Found this at PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals with an included fridge and microwave. Thought I might get a cheaper rate by bidding on PRICELINE for what I thought would be the same hotel. Bid $75 for 2.5* in the zone, rejected, then $79, rejected, so decided to go for the Express Deal to make sure I got the freebies listed above for $83. Two blocks and stairs to the beach (no water view however), two blocks to the Cedros Avenue Design District using the pedestrian bridge over the railway tracks for shopping, and right on the #101 bus route to the Torrey Pines hotel for the meeting, 20 minutes door to door. In addition it is 7 blocks to the Solana Beach Amtrak station if we decide to go into San Diego and not drive. Cheap, and LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!
10. Amenities listed after purchase: Free breakfast, free internet (in public areas), indoor pool, non-smoking, restaurant, handicap access, business center Thereuare - hope this is what you are looking for.
11. 330 days in advance, found a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal on Priceline for $107, Guest Rating 9+, amenities: Business, Restaurant, Free Internet, Free Breakfast, Pool. There was a similar deal on Hotwire for $106 in Loop-Theater District 100% recommended, but with higher fees and taxes. Bid $90, rejected, $97 with only free bid, so took the Express Deal. New hotel - summer 2015 to be added to your list.
12. Starting with BB's PRICELINE link, chose 2.5* because it was listed as best deal in the Revere-Logan zone, bid $100 Canadian (approx. $90 US currently), rejected. Used a free re-bid at $110 Canadian, accepted. This hotel is at the extreme north end of this zone, and it doesn't have an airport shuttle, which will cause us some inconvenience. There is a shuttle to the Wonderland subway station on the Blue Line which runs directly to the airport, but according to some web sites, it only runs from 6:00 - 11:00 and 17:00 - 22:00. Access to the hotel is apparently challenging by car, and the hotel is very poorly served by bus to the subway. Hope that taxi costs won't eat up the savings on the hotel cost.
13. Internet access was the only additional amenity in addition to the 8 already listed.
14. Used BetterBidding's link to PRICELINE. Express deals available for a 2 star in the airport district for $33. Bid $26 rejected, $28 rejected, $30 accepted + 2 =$60 + 15.24 = 75.24. Thought I might get Super 8 because a few sites showed it as the cheapest 2 star in the area. It was #35 vs. #43 for E. S. A. at Tripadvisor, but the E.S.A. had been dragged down by 3 recent 1 out of 5 circles, which seemed grossly unfair based on my experience. Clean, no odors in the room, quiet, full size fridge, limited breakfast of apples, oranges, granola bars, individually wrapped muffins and instant oatmeal. For the price, a pretty good deal.
15. Used BB link to HOTWIRE. Amenities: Free Breakfast, parking and internet; pet friendly; pool; business; golf and tennis nearby. 4 out of 5 Tripadvisor circles. $65 + 13.46 = 78.46
16. Used Betterbidding's PRICELINE link, first bid of $61 was accepted. New hotel only open a couple of months. Hotwire probably offering the same hotel at $73 - 3* with free breakfast, free internet, indoor pool, fitness center, restaurant. 4.5 out of 5 Tripadvisor circles. On Priceline's Express Deals, again probably same hotel, 3*, Guest rating 9.0, guest favourite, includes free breakfast, free internet, other listed amenities were indoor or outdoor pool, business center, for $69. 1 1/2 blocks to commuter rail METRA station that goes directly to Convention Center and downtown, so I think it is a pretty good deal.
17. Free breakfast, free internet, indoor or outdoor pool, free parking, pets allowed, restaurant, business center, fitness center. Includes free Breakfast, Internet and Parking Bed choice available 7 shuttles/ day; schedule available on their web site; first downtown departure from hotel at 7:00 am, last pick-up downtown approx. 10:30 pm According to Google directions, there is a 15 minute walk to where one can pick up city bus 358 Express to downtown if shuttle times don't work.
18. Saw this $96 deal on PRICELINE EXPRESS DEALS, and tried bidding $85, $90 and $93 with free zones. Not even a counteroffer, so took the Express Deal which guaranteed bed choice. $96 x 2 + $40.30 = $232.40. One significant advantage is they have a free shuttle to downtown Seattle; also free breakfast, free parking, free internet. Used BB's link.
19. Using Betterbidding's PRICELINE link, started bidding at $75 for Best deal, 3 1/2 stars, then increased by $10 each time, adjusting dates to allow me to keep bidding. When I reached $105 for 2 nights, offer accepted. Then I was offered 2 additional nights at the accepted price, which I took. I was originally looking for 3 or 4 nights, and price seemed reasonable. $105 x 4 + taxes & fees of $39 x 2 for a total of $498.
20. Used BB's PRICELINE link to start. Unsuccessful finding any bargains in Don Valley or Scarborough, so submitted a low-ball bid of $59 for one night at a 3.5* in Downtown North. Very surprised that it was accepted. $59 + $15.64 = $74.64. Their web site says: Please be advised that effective July 1, 2013, Delta Chelsea will no longer be operated by Delta Hotels and Resorts. Don't know if this is the reason that my low bid was successful. It is not clear whether there will be a name change at that time.
21. Started with BB's PRICELINE link. Amsterdam seems fairly expensive. Discovered that there was a 4 star in the Museum Quarter - Rai Centre for $60 using Priceline's EXPRESS DEALS. I was a little concerned about how far from the centre this area appeared, especially if the hotel was in the south corner of Area 4. I assumed that anywhere in Amsterdam would have good public transportation, so decided to try bidding. Bid $51, was rejected. Used a free zone to raise the bid to $53. Accepted. $53 x 4 = $212 + $32.60 = $244.60. And of course it is right at the south end of area 4.
22. Using BB's PRICELINE link as usual, started with a $55 bid for 3.5* in Mississauga, rejected; then $52 for 3* rejected. Started over with 2.5* in Oakville - Mississauga South at $48 rejected, added Mississauga at $49 bid, accepted at the Country Inn Oakville in Oakville - Mississauga South. $49 x 2 = $98 + $21.40 fees = $119.40.
23. Bid $15 for a compact; counter-offered at $18, bid $16 for Economy - accepted with Hertz. $144 + taxes and fees = $230.79 You saved 37%!*
24. Tried to extend my earlier Hotwire win in Downtown Seattle, but additional nights were not available. Accepted this 2 star property in Bellevue Downtown which looks to have fairly good express bus connections to downtown Seattle for our third night, using PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals. According to one review at Tripadvisor, this is one of the better Extended Stay America properties, and has free parking ($29 a night at the Roosevelt in Seattle) and 7 out of 10 Guest Rating. Amenities: Free breakfast, Free internet, Free parking, Pets allowed, Bed choice available. $50.54 with taxes and fees. Used BB's PRICELINE link.
