  1. Thanks thereuare!! I figured if I have to shell out more than 40 anyways, I'd rather try for a 4* 4* DTU bid 42 got counteroffer to raise 12$ added Cotton bid 43 rejected 4*DTU + SLN bid 44 got a message to wait for 15 minutes, then got rejected added Cotton bid 45 rejected 4*DTU + SSL bid 46 again was asked to wait 15 minutes and got it Your Offer Price: $46.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $92.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $19.98 Total Charges: $111.98 Looks like a pretty good deal to me, although we'll have to factor in another 8$ for Parking per day Nounou
  2. Hi, seems impossible to get a 3* below 40 in SLC for 6/26-28 Here's what I tried: 3* DTU 30 rejected added South SL 32 started again Cotton + DTU 33 Cotton+DTU+South SL 34 DTU+WV 35 Cotton DTU WV 36 DTU WV South SL 37 cotton DTU WV South SL 38 All rejected. I've also lowered to 2,5* and bid 32 at DTU also rejected Any advice? I have plenty of time left, but it always takes ages to do all the rebidding. So in case this is hopeless, please let me know. Thanks in advance Nounou
  3. Booked it a few days ago, but did not get around to post any earlier I think this is the first time this hotel came up, at least from what I saw on the board. I used the Savingsbarn link to book Started with 4* OQW 80$ got counter offer at 115 Closed browser Started 4* OQE at 80$ got counter offer at 128 added OQW at 88$ no counter offer Closed Browser Started 4*BMR and OQW for 92 rejected Started LQMP/OQW at 96 and got counter offer at 122 Started OQW+OQE+BMR at 101 rejected Then I went to 3* 3* OQW 70 rejected 3* OQE 74 rejected 3* OQW+OQE 78 rejected closed browser 3* BMR 71 rejected 3* BMR added OQW at 76 and got it Your Offer Price: $76.00 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 2 Travel Insurance: $20.00 Subtotal: $324.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $31.66 Total Charges: $355.66 I had to take travel insurance unfortunately, so it's not such a great deal after all, but I was willing to take the chances. The best rate for this hotel is 105 on their website (a non-cancellable special) Happy Bidding Nounou
  4. Hi, just got back. Yep, zone is Southwest and Palma (there are no other 4* superiors on Priceline in the other zones). Above mentioned address is correct. And yes, It IS the same hotel, one part are time share villas and the other is the hotel (this is the case with most Mariotts) We had a good time there. Will share photos at realhotelphotos.com shortly. Thanks again for your help Nounou
  5. Thanks for your help again! We ended up not bidding for this trip for a number of reasons.... However I booked another place somewhere else and shared the respective info in another part of this forum. Thanks again Nounou
  6. For some reason the savingsbarn link did not work yesterday, so I had to go via priceline directly (actually I think this has happened to me for the second time). I would have loved to support this site, but I could not afford to wait, as we are leaving today (my NY plans were shattered on Saturday morning so I only had a couple of hours to work out an alternative). Sorry for that! I still want to share this info here: choose 4* 3/12-3/15 (4 nights) superior Southwest and Palma Zone bid 50 $ rejected added Southwest bid 60$ rejected closed browser choose Palma and Northwest bid 71 rejected added Southwest bid 80 rejected got counteroffer to incease by 22 closed browser started split bid 3/12-13 (2 nights) bid 91 and got it Your Offer Price: $91.00 , Number of Rooms: 1 , Number of Nights: 2 , Subtotal: $182.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $24.01 , Total Charges: $206.01 then started over 3/14-3/15 (2 nights) bid 85 and got it Your Offer Price: $85.00 , Number of Rooms: 1 , Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $170.00 , Taxes & Service Fees: $22.87 , Total Charges: $192.87 I probably overpaid a few bucks for the first two nights, but with a rack rate of 214 US$ I'm quite satisfied with my deal. It's not NYC, but it's still much better than staying at home. Thanks again for all the valuable info on this board Take Care Nounou
  7. Hi, thanks for your quick answer. Do you think it will be necessary to split? Regards Nounou
  8. Hello, this will be my second attempt at finding a deal on priceline, after finding a lot of support for my Hawaii trip last year. Could you please help me by suggesting a bidding strategy for MTE, MTW, and/or UM/CPS for a 3 or 4 * from 12th-17th March (checking out on 17th). My budget is 100 $ max and I have no particular preference among the above mentioned zones (after reading your review on those). Any suggestion is highly appreciated I would not mind to split if necessary. Thanks Nounou
  9. Stayed there from 19-26th May and on 28th Was quite happy to get this hotel for 48 $ for most of the nights and 71 $ for two nights (memorial day weekend). The location is great, there's is free parking in walking distance, thus we only shelled out the 13$ for parking for the first night. Staff was friendly and accomodating during the first stay. Got our request (two beds, non smoking). When we came back for the 28th, however they told us we had to relocate to another hotel because they were oversold. We refused to do so and after some discussions accepted another room choice (only one bed) in order to stay at the PS, which was fine. Rooms where small, as everywhere in Hawaii, but clean and comfy. The walls are thin tough, we had neighbours who were always arguing at 7 am, which was a bit annoying. But they WERE loud, so not sure if it's the hotels fault. Could see the ocean from our lanai (which other hotel would sell you as a partial ocean view!!). Loved the pool deck, altough we only used it twice, given we were so close to the beach. They are not so fussy regarding pool towels as other hotels are. You just get them at the reception, that's it, no deposit, no discussions.. You get free in room coffee makers with Kona Coffee, which we really appreciated. All in all, I think we got a good deal and were very statisfied with our stay. We also stayed at the Mariott and the Turtle Bay during this trip and I have to say that the Park Shore was by far the best value for money.
  10. Sorry for the late report, but I just got back: Bid for both dates seperately, while we were already there. Used the same strategy for both bid 48 Waikiki South, rejected added Ihilani bid 58 rejected started a new page with South and added Airport bid 68 rejected added Ihilani bid 70 still rejected then added Waikiki North (willing to accept the risk of having to move) bid 71 and got it
  11. Oh duh. :) Sorry I'm not an old pro. Holiday Inn PDX Could you do me a favour and edit the headline. Thanks
  12. via the savingsbarn link bid 34 PDX, rejected and got an info to up 9$ for a free rebid started over (unfortunately had problems again with savingsbarn, hence sorry used priceline directly) use Airport and Beaverton, bid 36 and got it Your Offer Price: $36.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $72.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $16.81 Total Charges: $88.81 Thanks Nounou
  13. Thanks but I'm not able to find it on either of those sites. It seems the hotel is fully booked. For the remaining night I had gone up to 58 and did not get anything. Thus I suppose it's just not available. Same for the nights of 28-31st. Hmmmm. I still have my fallback reservation for those dates, it's just a shame to have to move for one day and then again for another day (I will attend a wedding on the north shore and spend 27-28th there) Nounou
  14. Wohoo, got the 25th now as well, also for 48 Your Offer Price: $48.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $48.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.16 Total Charges: $61.16 However not the 26th, although I went up to 58 now. Ran out of rebids. Will have to try again Monday. Any thoughts? Thanks Nounou
  15. Not quite sure what you mean with just a tad higher? Are you referring to shop and compare, where the difference is only 2$ between these days (999 vs. 101)? Wow, so as a newbie I can pride myself not having made any newby mistakes, plus securing on of the lowest bids in that ares. Sounds like a compliment. Hey, I'll just take it as one. :) Thanks Nounou
  16. :) Even worked with a German Visa and German billing address with random US Zip code on the US website, same thing did NOT work out on the UK site. Thanks for this advise Nounou
  17. Thanks but this won't help me. I need 25th-27th. I'll try again on Sunday.
  18. Tried my luck again, using the "Canada trick", but on the US website, as the UK website rejected my card and CS said there was nothing they can do. :) bid 48 for 19-27th, rejected added Ihilani bid 50 rejected split 19-25th bid 48 and got it Your Offer Price: $48.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 6 Subtotal: $288.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $45.49 Total Charges: $333.49 then bid 25-27th 48 rejected added Ihilani 50 rejected added airport 52 rejected I still have my fallback reservation, hence no worries for me. I know others were dissapointed, but I'm quite happy with the Park Shore, it seems to be better than the Waikiki Resort, according to the reviews. And as this time savingsbarn worked, the support for this site worked out as well. Thanks for all the help. Nounou edited to include info on taxes and fees
  19. Hi, thanks for your answer. Yes it is the 19-27th MAY. As I said, I would accept to get the Shore, but not at 58. So not quite sure how to answer your question. Anyway, I tried again and had my bids refused. Thus I split from 19-25th May and this time the search engine went further trough right at 48. But it blocked because of the credit card, asking me to double check the credit card. It seems the system does work with neither of the two VISA's I have. Bummer. I'm sure I could have got it, because it never even bothered with my credit card information on my earlier bids. Not sure what to do, I don't have my account in the States anymore. Any advise? Nounou PS and by the way, I tried to use savingsbarn to make my booking and the site seems to be down, so I had t go directly to priceline.
  20. This is a great board with a wealth of information! After literally spending hours reading here all Saturday and Sunday last weekend, I finally dared to use priceline for the very first time last Sunday night: I used the UK site, as I'm currently in Germany, I should have tried the Canada trick described in one of the threads here, but registering in the UK worked fine for me. The only hassle was the conversion between Pounds, EUROS and US$. This is what I did: Started with Waikiki South and 26 pd (about 48 US acc. to Oanda), rejected Added Ihilani with 28 pd (about 52,50 US), rejected Added Airport with 30 (about 56.50) So I'll try again tonight. I saw the Waikiki Shore sell for 48-50 US. Not a really good property, but for that price acceptable, I wont be in the room much. I read the Radisson also sold for around 56-58, this would be my preference. Looking for some advise: What should I do start with a low rate like 48 again? Or right away with 58? If the Shore wasn't available then, it won't be now, right? I want to avoid to overbid. :) My max is 60, as I have a fallback reservation for 64 US at another property, which I can cancel until Saturday without cancelation fees. It is a 3 star (Waikiki Resort), but as I've been told even worst than the Waikiki Shore. So I'm trying to optimise. Also my stay is rather long 19-27th. Will I need to split it in two? Thanks in advance for any advise coming from the old pros out there :) Nounou
