  1. HOTWIRE is showing a $100 4-star with free shuttle listed in your area for your dates. I dont use your strategy of changing * Ratings usually when I bid but I'd pay the $10 more since the free shuttle is important to you and have peace of mind that its done and scheduled. hope this helps!
  2. I have a lot of experience in this area and from looking at HOTWIRE and kayak I think youre going to have to up your bid and/or maybe also use 3.5 star rating. Also if you're willing to stay at the north Ft Lauderdale Westin its in the FTL North zone as pointed out by the admin. Do you have your own transportation to the port?
  3. downtown is actually much closer to the cruise port then westshore. the channelside district specifically is where the cruise port is at. many of the westshore hotels in your budget will provide a shuttle there I believe.
  4. you could always just pay for a taxi, they are readily available in the area at all hours and with the savings it might be worth gambling and seeing if they have a shuttle or not. most of the small hotels will probably not offer a shuttle at all hours.
  5. Hey Guys, As I noted in another thread rates for South Florida are skyhigh even for this time of year, especially in Boca Raton. On HOTWIRE, what I am guessing is this particular hotel stood out for $98. A big plus to me is the free parking since there will be 2 cars there so this became my back up hotel. Started bidding on PRICELINE using my method at $54 for the night adding other acceptable zones (FTL North, Hollywood, & FTL Beach) and free-rebids ending up at $76.00 and with taxes at $92 and change for the night. Will report back on how the hotel is.
  6. just saw your dates of travel, I just scheduled a 1 night hotel for tonight and saw one of these 4*s listed at $119 a night in this zone on HOTWIRE. Valentines day and the winter season probably has a lot to do with the high prices. everywhere in South Florida is sky high, even more then normal for this time of year. just look at Boca Raton's section if you want a good laugh. is there any reason you are set on this exact hotel? ive stayed here recently as well as others near by, this particular hotel is comfortable and clean but not all that great. While it was fine for my purpose, and Id be ok with an overnight stay again, I wouldnt say its a 4* as rated.
  7. I dont want to cloud your win and a lot of people on tripadvisor seem to enjoy this hotel but this is one of the few hotel stays (and only PRICELINE / HOTWIRE stays) I really would rate as horrible. If you have an open mind, not expect much, have common sense with safety, and dont mind their beds I think you will be ok here though. I posted a review here and on tripadvisor under the same user name.
  8. Sorry to post a late stay guys but as I could tell this zone isnt widely reported so wanted to help where I could! As this area has a few zones and I had time the night before their stay I tried my luck at priceline bidding all the way up to about 3 dollars less then the hotwire rate. I also knew the hotwire had trip advisor score of, I believe, 4 or 4.5 out of 5. My parents stayed here and reported while nothing special as one would guess, the hotel was clean and staff were nice. They met my pre-check in requests for them to have a king non-smoking room and late check-in. I will be sure to check for my survey and keep it at 3*s for ease of tracking. The ever important amenities list: Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Taxes were $14 which, while slightly high, is acceptable. Hope this helps as always! :)
  9. Hey guys, Its been a while since I have posted. Iwill try to go back and check my old posts to see if I have missed any stays. I am guessing I might be missing a couple of priceline stays at Shingle Creek in Orlando but those are pretty frequent on here. I have been busy with work and living in Houston for a contract job. I just did 2 hotels thorough hotwire for my parents going back and forth to FL from a visit here. I looked earlier in the day and yesterday and they had the La Quinta it appeared to be listed at $68 but my parents werent sure if they would want to drive so far in 1 day. Tonight this Wingate was on, Hotwire reviews were still being gathered but Tripadvisor was 4.5 out of 5, knowing the La Quinta was the same they were fine with me shooting to find out. Got this instead and from various sites the hotel is pretty much brand new. The amentities are also below: Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Taxes were about $18 which surprised (& disappointed me) given there really isnt much int he area to see or do other then spend a night. Hope this helps as usual! :)
  10. Shouldnt the total bid be quoted as the winning amount since thats what it took to win the hotel even if you didnt pay that? Glad to see others making use of the sale :)
  11. Oh Yeah got that covered for sure :) Last night I went ahead and made a direct reservation with Hilton at $111 per night that is refundable as long as I cancel the day before. I plan to keep bidding daily until then to see if I win. Todays Bidding Failed again even with the $7 bonus cash. I did see priceline alerts where they will send you an email wehn other people win in the zone, do these work? I signed up for them.
  12. Log on to pricelines facebook page. Click the link and enter your log in information when requested. The deal will be able to be used under the my rewards tab on Priceline account. It lasts until 12 Noon tomorrow, 5/18. Hope this helps some of you all! Edit: $7 per night up to 10 nights total, not $10 per night
  13. Today PRICELINE came out with a promotion for $7 bonus dollars per night. I used this coupon and once again bid up the 3.5* zone with free rebids to $84 + 7 so $91 and still failed. The Hotel Indigo looks acceptable but does not seem worth as much as the Hilton $$$ wise, I tried bidding on 3* up to $76 (with bonus included) and did not win, there are onyl 2 free rebid zones. I thought there were 3 but one of them in the far north part (20 miles + away with no interstate to it) had a resort that snuck in at the bottom, and I didnt realize it until after I had finished bidding. Thank God I didnt win a place there!
  14. Just rebid again with same results. I would like to be at <$100 a night as I can secure the room direct through Hilton for around $111 or so. I have considered trying the beach areas but the reason I am going in the first place is for a Wedding at the Vinoy (crazy rates) and have festivities there friday-sunday. I might try the beach area and see if I have any luck or maybe a 3* in this area.
  15. Oops, not sure if the website made an error or I accidentally selected it but it was really a 4*, please correct it.
  16. I started at $55 and free rebid up to $92 and got nothing. Hotwire is quoting what looks to be $115 for Hotel Indigo in the area, I am hoping for either of the 3.5* hotels on priceline list. Any ideas guys? Is there a certain time (like 3am or midnight) when prices and availability change on priceline. was thinking of just waiting and trying again tomorrow. The dates are 5/25-5/27 was selecting 1 room but need 2 rooms for the 2nd night. Thanks!
  17. Christine, most hotels are going to have a crappy fitness center for someone that likes to stay in great shape (I am also one) so anymore I dont even try to work out while on vacation. I wrote one of the reviews on here and yes I def dont think this is a 3.5* hotel but it is on the list on here as a possibility. I normally only do 4* in Orlando due to the inflation of ratings but on the stay I got this hotel nothing could get one. I didnt mind the rest of the hotels at the 3.5 level so I tried it but unfortunately I won this Radisson also. The main problem I had were the beds were HORRIBLE. I wasnt really worried about walking in the parking lot more so about leaving my car there. However, unless you drive a very flashy car (still probably only a small chance of trouble) or lack common sense and leave valuables in plain sight (much bigger concern) I dont think you should have a problem. I agree the resort fees are garbage especially for someone like me who likes to stay in large hotels (this isnt large lol) but usually doesnt do anything besides sleep there but in Orlando most places have them so keep that in mind. If your CC doesnt refund the money you can always check out the hotel or just say screw it and rebid on a 4* (should be able to get one for not much more in this area) and use it as a lesson. Hope you can make something good out of it :)
  18. Got this hotel for my quick trip down there this week for work and fun. I was hoping to get the Diplomat that I paid the same price for a couple of months ago. I didnt get to stay there as it was for my brother and his pictures looked nice. I started bidding at $60 and used free rebids in $10 increments. Hotel looks nice for the night and has good reviews. As usual Ill post a review when I get back.
  19. Not sure if old wins help anyone or not but got this one for my brother. He was hoping for our normal win of Shingle Creek but was glad to try this one out. Fit the calendar and rate for other people at the time. He started at $50 I believe and bid in $5 increments. Not bad for his first time !
  20. I just got this one for a last minute Disney World Easter trip. Stayed here before and very nice so I'm very happy with this result. I started at $40 and used free rebids until I hit at $49. From the wins saw others had won this weekend and lately at $49 too. It was on Hotwire for $67 until today when it was replaced with Rosen Center. As always Ill post a follow up report as with each stay when I return.
  21. My friend won this hotel on the first bid for $49. Pretty blessed shot considering she didnt have a clue how to bid really or what price to pay lol Figured id post it here for anyone that might be looking to travel. Saw what appeared to be the same hotel for Sunday 4/1 for $67 on Hotwire as my brother was thinking of staying there. Hope this helps!
  22. The restaurant is not the same as the free breakfast indicator but you can draw the conclusion that its more likely a full service hotel if they have a restaurant on site. Ive seen properties go away and then reappear before. If I was you Id play the Priceline game though and try for a 4*. In this area you can normally get one for around the price you were looking at for the 3*. Hope this helps.
  23. I just won this room on PRICELINE for a last minute trip for my brother. The hotel looks nice so I might go with him if Im not too busy :) I started off by looking at HOTWIRE and say they had this hotel (or what matched it) for $110, the Hyatt Pier 66 for $110, and Hyatt Bonaventure for $119. The Westin was definitely the first choice/Backup but wanted to play the Priceline game to see if we could get it cheaper. I decided I would bid up to $100 before going with HOTWIRE. I was OK with the Hollywood zone obviously and 2nd choice zone I was OK with was the Ft. Lauderdale Beach. Had 5 other free rebids so I didnt get a 4* in an area I didnt want. Started out at $50 and hit $90 on the 2nd to last try. With taxes it ended up being $109 all in. In my pre bid research it doesnt appear to have a resort fee, only for parking. Overall, were both happy that we got this hotel and for a great price, Kayak has it at $405 a night all in before parking so it might be the best deal Ive scored since starting on betterbidding! Hope this helps guys!
  24. HOTWIRE is showing what probably matches the Crowne Plaza at Universal under 4* International Drive north which I believe is on the trolley line. Also, a 3* 100% rated hotel in international drive south/sea world is showing up but not sure which hotel it is. kayak is showing the Doubletree International Drive/Sea World Resort for $82 and it seems ot have pretty good reviews overall and seems like by far the best hotel value to know you will be on international drive.
  25. Sorry I have been tied up with new years stuff. HOTWIRE is now showing a 2.5* in Brandon region for $70. It doesnt match anything on the previous wins but im guessing it might be the 2* Baymont that has been upgraded or a former 3* that was downvoted. If this is good for you id try bidding with 2.5* up to $60 in Brandon only area. Kayak is showing for $77 and $78 the Country Inn Brandon and La Quinta Brandon so if you bid up to $60 and dont get anything they are trying to get too much, at least right now. If the Wedding is the only thing you are planning to do in Brandon id consider other areas too.
