  1. I got $25 last time, but that was years ago ... The complimentary breakfast is great, so $30 may be fine. besides, across the boundary, you can walk to Barnes and Noble, so it is like an extended library, if you do some reading while travel, you will feel great ... Right next to it is a Courtyard, but both Fairfield and Courtyard have complimentary wireless Internet access ... so it is good ... This area has lots of fast food, restaurants, ...etc. you won't regret ...
  2. Bidding all area on 2.5* and above at $35 ... for 8/11 weekend, got nothing ...
  3. Yes, Springhill Suites 2* seems to be $35 or $38 ... When I tried $47 on 2.5* I got counter $13 making it $60 ... so it counters different at different bid ... I think $42 is the minimum for this Residence Inn ... Been there many times, it is a nice hotel, but don't get the corner suite, it is too big!!! Check out the Zoo and Japanese Tea Garden (rank top #2 in all Japanese Tea Garden in the US...)
  4. Yes, it was ranked very top in the area ... Don't forget to use the LONG swimming pool ... It is kind of very special ... from the hotel, you can walk to airport entry ... Very nice hotel ...
  5. This is nice hotel, and I still don't understand why they give us $20's :) If you take normal direction, you will end up detour, but if you take the back route, it is right at the exit of the high way ... It seems many airline people use this hotel ...
  6. The paid in room wireless actually is go by 24 hours, so I started using it at 11pm at the first day and ended it at 11pm the 2nd day ends up only pay $10 for that 24 hours duration... cool!!! :o The 2nd day morning, I decided to use the Business Center free wireless ... but the problem is that the phone is no free!!! Has to use cell phone, ran out lots of minutes ... Do you know? Buy one get one FREE every Tuesday from 3pm to 11pm on both wonderful buffets at Mohegan Sun Casino!!! :) Gee! a long line, but it really worth it... :) If you do not want to wait in line, I saw around 9pm, the line was very short ... I guess next Tuesday, should be there 3pm to catch the 50% lunch buffet at one and 9pm to catch 50% off dinner for another one... That would be perfert!!! Yes, Mohegan Sun has two buffet restaurants, one is $2 cheaper than the other. 50% works this way: One pay and the 2nd one FREE... So, I guess, you need to have even numbers to optimize the gain ... and excitement ....
  7. Yes, I asked the General Manager of Staybridge, and I was told that he does read this board ... :) On the other hand, I did see some of you readers of the board at the hotel, so I guess many of you bid and won the hotel as well ... :)
  8. Guess it is back to normal... the website shows $80, but I could not get anything up to $43 this weekend ... miss this Staybridge Cranbury ... :)
  9. Yesterday after left Residence Inn at Framingham MA, we were heading west on I-90-W to Springfield MA, thinking to check out this NBA Basketball Museum, Hall of Fame. Then we found out the nice park right next to it along the river, going further there was a Portuges Festival, free admission but very long line due to strict security check ... music very lound. Right next to it is a brand new Vistor Center, having all sorts of info, and maps!!! very useful... I would say it should be the first stop to visit Springfield MA, but Internet access there cost 25 cents per minute... Walking back to Hall of Fame, and had a late lunch at McDonald which is new and shine with huge NBA Trophy at center. The other side of this basketball museum is 8 story nice Hilton Garden Inn, but when I tried to bid on it, PL says there is NO 2.5* hotel in Springfield ? :) Well, anyway, got nothing in greater Springfield area for up to $45... The basketball museum open 9 to 5pm and cost $17 adjult and $12 for kid under 12. And season pass is $500!!! never heard of ... So, we will come back next time at 9am ... Then heading Six Flags New England at Agawam MA, just a few minutes away... We are member, yeh!! free adminsion, free parking ($15) since we also got $50 parking sticker redeemed at the first time we went in April ... Water park closed at 7pm, so we went there first, then some ride, the park close at 9am, a bit early, maybe because Sunday ... After that, heading to this nice East Hartford Sheraton by I-91-South and left lane out to I-84-E at first exit and right at the hotel, very straight forward. The hotel has a bit change, nicer, fast check in ... given many restaurant menu, pick the one with coupon and order nice dinner from take out ... Then get on paid wireless Internet in room to bid on hotels for tomorrow ... could not get anything at Mystic, Springfield, Wallingford, ... so slept first since I could at least "extend an other day" here ...
  10. First bid at $35 ... and got it ... Was thinking to "extend" but that link was gone ... so bid it again, this hotel is quite deterministic, not too many cars in the parking lots, so ... Very nice loby, nice music, very few people, surf Internet here is very comfortable and pleasant ... So many global conference meetings today (hey! It is Monday...) and got the feeling of traveling to Shanghi or Singapore ... really confusing ...
  11. Cool! There is complimentary wireless Internet access at Business Center and Lobby ... but not at room, but that's good enough for me to bid another day here ...
  12. The hotel does not have Internet but outsource to iBarn which charges $10 for wireless Internet connection ...
  13. Ok, General Manager still decided to visit Peter's home garage at Deans Ln Monmouth Junction NJ 08852 last Thursday, and today (Sat), Peter told me that everything is repair, 4 breaks plus fan belt ...etc. Total $350 !!! General Manager is very happy ...
  14. This time we got more discovering or revists ... When car approaching I-95 x3, the traffic built up, so we chicken out right away as usual and make a right turn at the traffic light, then first right to check out the marina, and straight all the way to the end of the road, Oh my God!!! So beautiful the Long Island Sound view!!! Some people were fishing there and we spend a while looking at the gorgeous view and a man did get a cat fish ... Too bad, he just filet the fish and throw the rest to the water... too ugly the behavior, we left immediately ... Next time chick out to see the view, hopefully will not see these people ... If you do not make first right turn, but go straight thru the light as we came back later make a right turn, there is a nice art museum called Bruce Museum, so many interesting scultures at the outdoors, it was too late for us to see inside, but we parked the car and while monitoring the I-95 traffic natually (right next to it), we step the stairs on the hill down to the hill foot and walk over to check out the Greenwich Train Station, then the main street; there were lots of people eating on street, lots of sign saying can not park tomorrow, Sat, there is going to be a big event going on ... As soon as saw no traffic, we went on I-95-N again, but hit traffic soon at x5. So, we chickened out again, and made a left turn on the bridge over I-95 and made a quick right turn, following the sign to another museum. The winding road was so interesting that along the river and go under the I-95 back and forth, eventually reach a historic site, then we park the car under to I-95 and walk over to check out this first building of town at the time when river and canal were the major mean, it seems many ships came to land right in front of the building. Then we saw a young man well dressed biking from train station over, in respond to our call, he turn back over to us. But when we asked if he know about the story of the museum, surprisingly, he did not even notice this small museum. He just moved to town on 7/15 when he got an hedge fund job after graduating from Princeton University major Economics. When I asked him why didn't he drive, he said that he moved to here because of the winding river, and he want to bike along river every day, so it is perfect for him to find the house half miles away from the train station that he can bike along twice each when taking train to NYC. He was born and grew up in Philadelphia and went to Princeton, then got a job at NYC, then move to here at CT, why? his parents have vacation home at Maine that he love to visit... This is the 2nd Princeton Univ related people I ran into today. The other one was a gradmma with a toddler sitting at the bench in front of Staybridge before we left the hotel. Her only daughter went to Princeton, then Harvard for Organic Chemistry Ph.D then went to Berkeley to do post doc, now working at Merck, and now living at FL came to business trip here at Rahway Merck for a month with monthly rate $99 on 1br suite. She became interested in chatting with me when I told her we are leaving and heading Boston to see Harvard Univ since we checked out MIT already last year. When she mentioned her daughter graduated from Princeton, I told her we just visit Princeton Univ and joined the tour, when she mentioned her daughter went to Harvard, I told her we are heading to and my son will sure to be able to get the admission since he got close to full score on SAT-2 both Biology and Chemistry, and very top at Science Leaguge in NJ on Biology and Chemistry. then she said her only daughter went to Berkeley for post doc, I told her I went to Berkeley for under and grad and got straight A. When she told me Berkeley was not good, she does not like it, I told her I agree since I got most of the professors hang on the board, then when she told me her daughter work at Merck Rahway, I told her me too and multiple locations at Whitehouse station NJ, Westpoint PA and Bluebell PA. Isn't it so much coincidence? No, I tell you why. This Staybridge Somerset NJ was Summerfield, and Summerfield open one at Bridgewater NJ to mainly serve Merck, and of course, I was invited to the grand opening lunch and open house. So, many business trip customers are Merck related. Well, coming back to the trip, when we got back I-95-N, we were very happy traffic all gone, but then when we reaching x16, it jamped again!!! So, we got out right away. At the first 30 seconds, we were a bit disappointed since it was nothing interesting, old streets like Mission St at San Francisco... but then I caught a sigh leading us to the wonderful Calf Pasture beach front park. The admission was $5 for non Norwalk resident, that's ok, the view was amazing!!! especially at the dusk... We parked on the water front and strolled along the cement path and ocationally walk over the rocked pile to approach water seeing many people fishing, mostly were blue collars people. A single mom walk over, and I asked her "Le gusta mucho aqui?", she was so surprised and smile, "Si, mucho!" "De donde?" "Elquador" "Donde vive?" "Aya" "y usted?" "de Nueva Jersey", "Oh my God!" ... nice park, nice view, nice people ... Then we walk on the Captain William Clark Pier zip zac into the water, many people fishing, chatting, laughting ... While kids watch a man fishing, I chat a bid with his wife, she told me July 4 even has a nice fireworks!!! She shared with me so much about the local attractions, and I have nothing in return but showing her how to bid at priceline.com and telling her to read betterbidding.com ... When we left the park, it was dark, but the park would not closed till 10pm, the baseball field still had game, mini golf still had many people, it is like a camp ground with all sorts of parties... When got on I-95-N, not too much traffic any more, but got too tired, so get out at x39B as usual to get a cup of coffee at Borders while kids reading some books and then we had a dinner at the wonderful food court at 2nd floor of the Westfield Mall adjacent to it. This Lotus Express food is very affordable, $4.95, but very delicious. I realized it was 10pm and not enough time to catch the buffet at Mohegan that ended at 11pm during weekends. So, I concentrate on driving on I-95-N to x76 to I-395-N while every one sleeping in car, while approaching Mohegan Sun, I changed my mind and decide to make an exception to skip this time and 40 miles more cross boarder to MA, all of a suddent, the highway was so nice, so smooth, then another 15 miles I-395 ende and has to get out and change to I-90-East, right before the entry saw the gas station asked only $2.99, so touched since along I-95 in CT, I often saw something like $3.46, $3.37 ...etc that I always tried to avoid getting gas at CT. From there, it is only 45 miles to Boston downtown, and 20 miles to x12 where Framingham is. What amazed me was the brand new I-90 when we rided on; we were very few cars to ride on the recent repaved major road, feel so great!. The only problem was that we do not have GPS maps on the PDA this time since did not have time to reload the map after visit Niagra Falls. I believe I shall get a 1G memery to get all maps in next time. Somehow, I found I also did not have address, nor driving direction of this Residence Inn at Farmingham, but glad that the toll ticket showed it was x12, then after get out there has to take Rt 9-W on left, but took Rt 9-East on right, then saw a huge Toyota dealer and a big apartment complex before making a U turn, not too long we change to left land to take this Crossing Blvd bridge over to the Industry complex, then follow the sign to Residence Inn. Glad did not get loss after midnight ... The hotel is great as always, we can even remember which rooms and parking spot we ocupied for the past. The wireless Internet was so powerful that even our room got it, not just the common area. Before I say Residence Inn is better, the laundry room machines reminds me it cost $1 to wash and another $1 to dry, and you need to exchange quarters at front desk ... So miss free laundry at Staybridge ... Glad wash all the dirty clothes before leaving Staybridge today ... Some of you wrote me private message asking me why they could NOT followed me. Well, when I checked in at 1:30am, I could not find any parking spoke near by, I parked my car far away... So, I guess many who got the bid already exhausted PL's quota for tonight ... I got it at first bid last night, and after I posted the bid, the parking lot is full. Isn't that Betterbidding.com very very powerful?
  15. The view on the bridge of Hutson River was gorgeous and breath holding ... Every time I saw the nice view when I go to Boston ... Since having buffet at Mohegan in mind, so kind of skip P F Chang, especially, Friday night is hard to get a seat, for past many experience, Friday may need hours wait, so, changed mind when the picture of long line outside P F Chang pop up as car approaching Fwy 287 x8 ... It was I-395-N to I-90-EAST then x12 to arrive the Residence Inn Framingham ... Yes, we just got here at 1:30am ...
  16. The Hilton Garden Inn is at Manuet NY, a 5 story 2.5* can not be missed at Fwy 87/287 ... Not Spring Valley.
  17. ok, took Garden State Parkway over to Fwy 87 and now at exit 14 Spring Valley Hilton Garden Inn to take a rest ... kids at Chuck E Cheese next door to eat late lunch and play games ... Will hit the road soon after traffic ... will see the nice Tappenze Bridge river view ... and heading up to Whiteplain's Westchester Mall, there is a very nice P F Chang restaurant for dinner ... (not sure if can get a seat) ... then will to milford I-95x38 there is a Border that can take a rest, and big mall behind ... before arrive Mohegan Sun to have late night buffet ... then will head to Residence Inn thru I-395-N to I-90-West ... Guess will not arrive before 2am ... will keep you posted ...
  18. After nice complimentary breakfast, took my car to replace a tire at STS; I was told nail on the side can not be repair, well ... It then passed the DMV inspection, somehow, NO one in the line ... so, it seems Friday around 10am is good time to visit DMV. Then passed by a new bank called Somerset Valley, went talk to branch manager and she gave me a tour of all facility of the bank ... Back to hotel, extend it to 1pm no problem. The man next to me at business center paid $139 a night, but that's weekly rate of 2 room suites. He told me that his house was burned, and insurance paid for his family to stay here free ...
  19. bid 3* on $34, countered $9 more, reject, rebid with $1 more, and got it ... This is very nice mid point on the way back from Boston ... and near Six Flags.
  20. global bid on Boston area 2.5* and above with up to $50 ... nothing on 8/6/06
  21. Come back to use PL extend link to add one more day at the same price, after bidding globally on Boston area for up to $47 on 2.5* and above hotels and got nothing ...
  22. Just bid again at $32 on 3* to skip Marriott and then bid 2.5* at $45 trying to get this Staybridge again, but it were rejected !!! So, the General Manager told me weekend sold out may be making sense ... and somehow the Somerset Marriott website rate is now $189 for the weekend, Courtyard $159, a bit strange ... This weekend must be fairly busy in town ...
  23. Oh, by the way, General Manager told me that this hotel has slow days at December of each month... So, if you bid on this hotel during that time, you should be able to get it, I guess ... This hotel has free shuttle to New Brunswick train station to take train to New York City. If you get off Newark Int'l Airport, can take NJ Transit to New Brunswick and then shuttle to this hotel ...
