  1. I have been bidding for the last two weeks using free re-bids up to $150. Last night - bid denied at $140, accepted at $145. Priceline offered to extend stay at same rate, so I tried to add on 9/5 - 9/7. No luck. I have a back-up for those dates as there doesn't appear to be a lot of availability that weekend in the Downtown area. I'll probably keep bidding just in case. I remembered to use the PRICELINE link. Thanks for this site and for all of you who post your wins. I wouldn't use Priceline without the information from this forum.
  2. PDB, At $29 with free breakfast and newspaper it almost feels like stealing! This place would have to be REALLY bad to get any complaint from me. Have a great trip, go2day
  3. Started bidding for 3* up to $70 with no luck. New bid for 2 1/2 * at $55, $60, $65, through Savingsbarn site.
  4. Bid up to $140 for 4* with no success. Decided to go down a star and save my money for food and wine. On 3/29/06 I bid for a 3* at $85, $90, $91, through Savingsbarn link. Rates for Priceline hotels during my stay were: Francis Marion $179, Doubletree $209, Embassy Suites $199, Mills House $189. The reviews for the Francis Marion are mixed, but I'm not too hard to please. I am happy to be in the downtown area in May for under $100!
  5. Bid unsuccessfully up to $110 at which point a counteroffer of $132 was received. Started new bids.....declined at $118, and accepted at $119. Lowest hotel site rate $169. I was hoping for the Hyatt. It was the lowest price 3* for both Priceline's hotels and vacation packages for our travel dates, so I was hoping the lowest rate and my bid would match up. (May or may not be relevant.) I bid through Savingsbarn as I hope others do, to support this great site.
  6. First bid of $29 accepted via Savingsbarn link. Saturday night stay. Complimentary breakfast included. Hampton website lowest rate of $93, Hotelscom $99. Reviews look like it will be just right for a quick stopover on our way to Savannah and Charleston. Thanks BetterBidding for a wonderful site.
  7. Amenities listed: Boutique Just booked Hotel Rex through SB. I had Hotwire dollars from a prior problem with Hotwire, so I did not have to put out any additional money. Hope your site still benefits. The hotel's website and reviews look good. Looking forward to my stay.
  8. Thereuare - I did as you suggested and followed up with Hotwire. Although it took numerous calls and e-mails they did eventually come through. Prospector Square Lodge has been downgraded to a 2 1/2* property. We received a refund of our first nights stay on our credit card and an additional $200 in hotwire dollars that can be used for a future purchase. Thank you for your help!
  9. I just received my confirmation of a $60 credit for the Hotwire "Double the Difference" guarantee for my reservation at Prospector Lodge. I was able to find it on Hotels.com for less. (I read about "double the difference" on this website.....thanks.) Upon check-in, the Prospector Lodge did not have any rooms available so my spouse and friend were sent to the Carriage Lodge Condos. Definitely not a 3* hotel, but with the refund I don't suppose it would be fair to pursue this. I haven't given up on hotwire yet, and looking forward to a better experience next time.
  10. Thanks for the advice. I called Hotwire customer service and the best I could get was "call us when you get there if there is a problem". I tried to get the rep to read the reviews on Expedia and at first she said that they couldn't access Expedia. After the conversation went on and on and I kept insisting that this is not a 3* property, (not even on Expedia) she finally said she could access the Expedia reviews. After reading the reviews she said "oh there must have been problems with snow". She called the hotel directly and they said that contrary to reports they do make the beds and they are a 3* facility. Anyway, I guess that's it. Maybe the reviews are exagerated and it won't be as bad as it seems. I guess we'll find out. Thanks for your help. Love this site.
  11. Amenities listed, hotel, swimming pool, workout room, spa. This was my first Hotwire purchase and at this point I'm pretty disapointed. Priceline has this hotel on their website as a 1*. The reviews are dreadful. Check-in is at a separate address than the hotel. On their website check-in is listed at 4pm and they close at 5pm. It appears that it is more of an office for condo rentals, and not a regular hotel. Summer arrivals after 5pm must go to a lock box for their keys. Reviews indicate that the only daily service is fresh towels. Maybe we will be pleasantly surprised, because at this point our expectations are low.
  12. I gave up at $66 and booked a Hotwire room through Savingsbarn. I'll post those details in the hotwire section.
  13. I bid 2.5* up to $50, 3* up to $60, with no luck. I noticed that Hotwire had the Westin at $105. Hyatt Penn indicated that they were sold out for 5/1, but just in case, i started bidding at $50 to rule out the Penn and then jumped to $70 to try for Westin. I bid in $5 increments until the acceptance at $90. Looking forward to my first trip to Philadelphia. Thanks for this board...........just found it. What great information!
