After losing on Priceline, used the HOTWIRE link. Ramada Inn Henderson KY 2044 US Highway 41N Henderson, KY 42420 $62 per night for 2 nights Tax recovery charges & fees: $19.20 Total: $143.20 Went to the Ramada site and found I could get the AAA rate for $61.96 per night with tax of $12.88 for a total of $138.80 and I could have earned Wyndham Rewards points. I hate most Ramada Inns, so I called Hotwire Express to see what they could do. Since I was already in the hotel for tonight (10/25), they agreed to refund my money for tomorrow as long as I call back after checkout. At the same time, I can request they block that hotel for my future trips.

Started bidding 10/25 using PRICELINE link. 3* Evansville $57 rejected. Offfered rebid at $73, but said no Added Evansville North (no 3*) $59 rejected Added 2.5* $63 rejected Gave up and went to Hotwire. See that posting.

The site looks great. I tried using the I WANT TO SEE box to look at Priceline Hotel Wins in Indiana, but it ended up showing my Hawaii.

I'm glad I didn't get the 3.5* North since I think it's the Marriott Griffin and the reviews are so-so.

I've had access to Hotwire Express for a couple of years, I think. Within the last couple of months the about section has the statement 'Ability to block unwanted hotels by using "Hotel Block"'. I can't figure out how to use it. Do you have to call an agent? There definitely are some hotels I've booked in the past that I would like to block.

Here's the history 3* Inverness $40 Added Pelham $42 Added Irondale $48 Changed dates 10/4-10/6 $49 Added Hoover $54 Added Central $56 Gave up. Anyway, finally got a room the following day for $60. I've always had luck getting something in Inverness for $40-$42 at the last minute for 5 days. Wonder what's up.

Used the PRICELINE link First try was $45 for 3* in Atlanta. Bid was rejected and was offered free re-bid for $58. I took the bait, hoping for the Hyatt Place. Instead, I got the Doubletree. Bad thing about that hotel is self-parking is $20 per day for in and out privileges and $14 if you leave and come back once. I should have been more patient and added more areas.

When I tried to bid again in East and Southeast for a 3*, PL told me I had to wait 24 hours. I added Hacks Cross and bid $52. The hotel is much better than the last time. There looks to be just one holdover at the front desk. I was not happy they could not supply a receipt when I had them fax my daily paperwork (to an 800 number). I tried to use the PL option to extend my stay for 2 more days, but that was unsuccessful and I was offered the extension for $79 as opposed to my original $52.

I see they added a $10 breakfast buffet. Maybe they also changed their management. The 8/25/11 review on TripAdvisor was not complimentary.
