  1. I just bid on Priceline for a 3.5 star property in the Rittenhouse Square - Business District at $75 per night and got accepted at my first offer. Total comes to $181 for 2 nights after fees/taxes. Priceline offers same property at $194 per night = $446 after fees/taxes. Great savings. Very happy with this property and price. :)
  2. Thanks everyone for your comments. I ended up not booking through HOTWIRE, as the savings weren't that great at $103 per night (now only $95 per night), as my corporate rate was only $30 more at the Sheraton University City for 2 nights. I ended up booking through PRICELINE and got the Sheraton at a better location (City Centre). Will post my winnings in the Priceline Forum as well. Thanks again!
  3. Hi There, I need your help again in identifying a hotel in Philly for August 6-8, 2012 (2 nights) in the City Center West / University City Area . It shows the following amenities: * Indoor pool(s) * Smoke Free Rooms * Fitness Center * Restaurant(s) * Business Center * High-Speed Internet Access * Accessible for the blind * Accessible path of travel * In-room accessibility * Handicapped parking 85% of Hotwire Customers recommend it. 3.5 out of 5 on Tripadvisor. $103.43 per night plus fees. Super Savings offer. Can't find a matching hotel on the BB Hotel list. Thanks for your help! :)
  4. Just booked my hotel for July 29 - Aug 01, 2012 and it was indeed the Doubletree Magnificient Mile. I won the same hotel 2 years ago at Hotwire as well and am very happy that we got this hotel again. Great location for this price. $106 per night + fees/taxes. Thanks Betterbidding! :-)
  5. Hi all, I'm looking into a hotel that can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children from Jul 24 to 27, 2012 (3 nights) in the Magnificient Mile - River North area and found the following 3.5* hotel for $116 a night: Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access Tripadvisor rating: 4 out of 5 90% of Hotwire reviews recommend this hotel. My guess is the "Doubletree Magnificient Mile" hotel, but I'm not so sure...? And yes, I used the Betterbidding HOTWIRE link to do my hotel search. :-) You guys were very helpful in the past with my hotel search. Thanks in advance.
  6. Thank you Colfax for your input. Appreciated your comments on the area. I looked again today and the hotel with the same amenities went up to $143. Will not go with HOTWIRE as I won't be saving much (if anything at all). Will use betterbidding's HOTWIRE link for future travel purchases. Thanks! :)
  7. Hi all, I have started my search for a hotel in the San Diego area by using your HOTWIRE link and found the following: 4-stars Boutique Hotel Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) High-Speed Internet Access $123 per night. I guess it is the Indigo hotel and would be happy if it was it, but given the fact that the regular advanced purchase rate is only $149 (and I get 10% discounts on their published rates) it would be not much of a saving. What do you think? And anybody an idea if the Gaslamp Quarter South would be a good area to stay for someone who has never been to San Diego before and wants to make the best out of the stay? I will have a rental car too. :-) TIA!!!
  8. Thanks for all your help but I cancelled my travel plan to ATL. Will use your links for future hotel purchases. :-)
  9. Thanks thereuare. I think it could be the DoubleTree Atlanta Airport, when comparing the amenities to those listed on your Hotwire hotel list? What do you guys think? I saw people getting properties that didn't show a shuttle icon on Hotwire but the hotel did have free shuttle service, so I'm not too concerned. I might wait a couple more days and decide then what to do. Will keep the board posted.
  10. Ok. Thanks Yellowdog. I just updated my Chicago post. :-) Now, the 3* Atlanta airport hotel price changed to $55 a night. And the rating changed as well: Recommended in 95% of customer reviews Thanks for your help!
  11. I ended up with the following through HOTWIRE: Doubletree Hotel Chicago Magnificent Mile 3.5 star hotel for $83/night or $104.46 including taxes & fees. Amenities: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Was very pleased with my stay. Great staff, location and room. :-)
  12. Hi there, Can you please help me identifying the follwoing airport hotel in Atlanta: 3 star for $58 a night Amenities: * Fitness Center * Pool(s) * High-Speed Internet Access Recommended in 45% of customer reviews I clicked on your HOTWIRE link. Thanks!!!
  13. I'm still indesisive as to whether I should get a hotel thru Hotwire in the North Michigan Ave Area or Magnificent Mile Area? We want to do shopping, dining and a bit of sightseeing. Only going to spend one night in Chicago and want to make the most of out short trip. Thanks very much for your help! :)
  14. Hi, I used your HOTWIRE link to look into a 4* hotel in the Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville area and get the following amenities for $95 a night: Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access 90%of Hotwire reviews recommend it Any idea is appreciated. Thanks!!! :)
  15. Used the HOTWIRE link through this website. Booked 4* hotel with following amenities for $154 a night, excluding taxes: Resort Beachfront Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access Children's Activity Program 90% satisfaction. This hotel typically charges all guests a resort fee of about $25 per room per night... Kinda "knew" by reading your forums that it would be the Sheraton Waikiki (and was hoping for it), and indeed it was! :) Had a reservation for $218 per night which i cancelled now. Priceline offered same hotel for direct booking for $265. Thank you betterbidding! You guys rock! :)
  16. Just another question: I noticed that when I place a new bid after 24 hours, the star ratings of previous bids are being saved by PL. What I mean is: Two days ago I bid on 5* hotels and resorts and my bids of $162 got rejected. 24 hrs later I added 4* and lowered my bids to $120 and still got rejected. In the reject screen the previous selected star ratings are greyed out... My concern is now, if I wait another 24 hrs and start bidding $170 and just select resorts & 5* hotels (not 4* anymore), is there a chance that I get a 4* hotel for $170 as this star rating is what I previous selected? I really don't want to end up paying $170 for a 4* property but ist seems like PL saves your pervious selected star ratings and applies it to your new bids/offers, even if you change your star rating selection and waited 24 hrs. Thanks for your help!
  17. Thank you for the guess! I will update my post with a reply once I decided what to do now.... PL or HW... :-)
  18. Waikiki Beach Hotel, 4* - Oct 20-22, 2010 $149 with the following amenities: Near Beach Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby This hotel does not charge an additional resort fee. 75% of Hotwire reviews recommend Any ideas which hotel it is? Thanks so much!
  19. Thanks thereuare for your help. After reading about the rebidding strategies, I added the following two zones to the Waikiki Beach zone to get re-bids: Waikiki Central Diamond Head. I also increased my offers to $162 and still got rejects.... I think that the Executive Centre and Honolulu Airport zones do not have Resorts and 5* properties either (as per PL's 'Name your own price' screen, in which you select your zones), but how likely are the chances that I get a resort or 5* hotel nonetheless? Those are the areas that I definitely do not want to end up getting a hotel at. My max. rate that I want to pay is $175, so, I'm not too far from it anymore... :) Thanks for your help.
  20. I need help with bidding for a hotel for Oct 20-22, 2010 in Waikiki Beach. I would like the Sheraton Waikiki or Hyatt, but looks like these two properties are not available at Priceline for my dates. The only resorts that come up, when I check for available hotels are the Marriott, Outrigger Reef, Moana Surfrider and the Royal Hawaiian (as a 5*) Wouldn't mind getting the Marriott Waikiki or the Outrigger Reef though. My max. amount is around $130... Tried bidding on PL with $140 for a 5* in Waikiki Beach - rejected. Added resorts and bid $100 - rejected. Any advise on what I should do next? Can I add a zone that does not have resorts just to get another bidding shot, to skip the 24 hrs waiting? Waikiki Central does not seem to have resorts, so, if I add that zone, is there a potential that I still get a resort that is neither on the betterbidding list, nor in the Priceline search results for my dates? The only 5* that PL offers seems to be the Royal Hawaiian, so if I add any other zone that does not have resorts, nor 5* hotels, how big are the chances that I get a 5* that is not on the list/search result? Thanks for your help!
