  1. I have finally seen the movie. I really enjoyed it. The sceen with BM playing golf near Fuji-san is sublime!!
  2. Hilton Chicago Check-In Date: Wednesday, April 14, 2004 Check-Out Date: Friday, April 16, 2004 Your Offer Price: $60.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $120.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $24.99 Total Charges: $144.99
  3. First bid accepted. Great result especially considering the exchange rate. Total came to $53 and change.
  4. it is definately a 2* hotel. I prefer the La Quinta which also has come up 2* on PL, but this fairfield is ok and worth the $26.
  5. KL is a fairly cheap city to enjoy. Major hotels will have internet connections and probably even wireless. check out: http://www.travel-library.com/ Instead of Singapore, you should head off for the jungles of rural Malaysia
  6. Bid this a while ago, just returned from my stay. $55 a night for 4 nights. Wonderful hotel!!
  7. Wonderful hotel. Public areas are well kept. Received a king bed in a large room with large bathroom that had a seperate tub and shower. Full selection of (coast brand) amenities, including cotton balls, q-tips, and shower cap. Wide selection of stations on TV. Wireless internet (through roamzone.us) for $9.95 a day and worked well. Even if you don't stay at the Paramount you must try Dragonfish, located in the hotel. Asian-fusion that is moderately priced and perfect. Dragonfish also provides room service for the Paramount. My first night there I ordered it...went back two more times in 4 days. Hotel staff was informed and helpful. No "priceline" problems to report. This hotel impressed me so much I will probably book directly with them the next time I travel to Portland. edited to add: we were on the 5th floor...there was some street noise (nothing unusual, but it might bother some). Hence , if you are a light sleeper you may want to request a high floor.
  8. is it on here?: http://buzz.yahoo.com/
  9. does it have to do with bees?
  10. We often take trips because of good PL deals. I always joke that rather than saving $$ priceline costs me because we travel a lot more than we otherwise would. We're here in Vegas too, so a cheap weekend at the Hyatt LLV or JW Marriott is usually easy to get via priceline. We justified spending $700 on Cubs playoff tickets and $700 on airfare to fly to ORD in part because we paid so little for the hotel... We should have a betterbidding convention...somewhere with low PL hotel rates. My vote is for HK or Beijing.
  11. My favorite guide books are the "Rough Guides;" they have a great Japan/Tokyo book that is much better than lonely planet. There really is not much discounting in Japan. Some sites, like http://www.tokyoessentials.com will have links to discounted rooms...but they are still expensive by priceline-cheapo standards. You can also get decent deals via JEHG: http://www.kid97.co.jp/~jeh-group/jeh-group.html but not a lot of lux...I've stayed at the Asia Center of Japan. Cheap but basic and clean, but NOT the Park Hyatt! The Asia Center is just a short hop from Shibuya, Harajuku, and Meiji Shrine. I always suggest people check out the travel library dot com: http://www.travel-library.com/japan before going to a country they've never been to. I still have not watched the movie...I am too worried that my wanderlust will get the best of me...I already have 5 trips over the next 7 weeks! edited to add this link: http://tokyo.hotelguide.net/
  12. PL does not offer 5* in Shinjuku...could mean they Park Hyatt is not with PL or that it is rated 4*. Frankly it is not that big of a hotel (just the top 15 or so floors) so they may not have to sell much excess inventory via priceline.
  13. IMO, the Park Hyatt would have to be a 5*. Decent location. As I read PL's map it would be in the Shinjuku zone (just west of Shinjuku-eki). I prefer Shibuya over Shinjuku...but then I am biased...
  14. Very pleased with this win to see the Le Meridien come up. Total with taxes/fees $648.29. Many, many lower bids rejected. :)
  15. This is a fine hotel. The lowest rate I could find for which I qualified was $63. This hotel is worthy of the 2.5 star rating, unlike most other BWs. Edited to add: $48 rejected.
