  1. FYI, Swissotel has a special via travelzoo for $119 for memorial day weekend. I was really surprised when I called at that rate was available for such a busy weekend.
  2. and now minions from TOBB are trying to posion this board. They should just leave well-enough alone.
  3. Your Offer Price: $33.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $66.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $16.76 Total Charges: $82.76 first bid of $30 rejected. added MSN south.
  4. Your Offer Price: $35.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 5 Subtotal: $175.00 Taxes & Service Fees:$33.18 Total Charges: $208.18 first bid accepted bidding west zone only. The free high speed (LAN) internet was great! I'll post a full review when I get a chance.
  5. how many banned folks have alternative monikers on TOBB?
  6. that is not correct. I have gotten several refunds when hotels have been downgraded or when the room assigned did not meet the quality level. I even got a refund on a trip where I stayed in the hotel and it was eventually downgraded so I wrote to priceline and received a refund.
  7. I would keep trying every 3 or 4 days up to your max. I am not sure, but you might want to see if those dates are during the final four basketball tourney because that is a busy weekend in Vegas. good luck!
  8. helped a friend get one night. Lowest rate on raddisson's web site was $94; hotwire wanted $77. Total with fees came to just over $74.
  9. Prior rejected bid was $145. On my initial bid I got a counter-offer of $167.
  10. I was hell-bent on getting this zone. I am very pleased to have NOT gotten the dump Hotel Russell (I was surprised to see the Russel come up for someone recently as I had hoped priceline had downgraded it). My back-up was the newly purchased Hilton Euston Place at 129 pounds. The location is great for my purposes for this sojourn. $151 seems a bit high for this time of year, but still a nice savings over my back-up.
  11. I have a lot of data on Willtravel's hypothesis. I have bid thousands of time and have only received counter offers on original bids.
  12. if you sign up via ual.com you can get up to 2000 mileage plus miles.
  13. This is a bummer. I was low-balling for the Fairfield or a real 2 star hotel. I know this "hotel" and while on paper it may be a priceline 2* it is a Motel and should be rated 1*. Trip advisor reviews more or less confirm my thoughts on this place. At least I am only out $35. Flagstaff is no longer a safe 2* priceline option in my opinion. Inn Suites Flagstaff 1008 East Route 66 Flagstaff, Arizona 86001 Your Offer Price: $25.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $25.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $9.81 Total Charges: $34.81
  14. I have not tried to log-in to TOBB for some time; probably a year or so.I just tried today and I can't believe she banned me. The last communications I had was regarding a post of mine she deleted because I mentioned my spouse rebid after I failed. As someone who was an early contributor to her site all I can say is that it is pretty sad she is so bitter and narrow-minded and focused only on her little affiliate fee. I am willing to bet the "real" reason she banned me from her little world is that I 've been posting here exclusively. I bet she just fumes when she sees posts on betterbidding.
  15. so...my wife and I board a UA flight yesterday...and the plane does not contain the seats we were assigned. We learned this by boarding the plane and looking for the (missing) seats. The flight attendant simply says "you can wait to see if any seats are available in back but if there are there won't be any together because this flight is sold-out" My jaw about dropped. No "sorry" or "let me check with customer service" or even a free drink. My wife and I are both premier on UA...in fact I am very close to premier exec. Another rant...my home airport (LAS) only has TED. TED does not have business or first class. I'll probably never be able to use any upgrades. And it stinks to have to take an all economy flight after hours of transit from BUD or BKK. Why would I even buy business class on UA for an international flight since I am stuck with TED? Also, TED and UA EXPRESS are very far apart at ORD. I will not be flying UA again if I have to transit to UA EXPRESS because of the distance. UA deserves to be bankrupt. I guess AA will be getting our business from now on.
  16. BA has been the best in coach the past few flights for me. Much better than any U.S. carrier, LH and (the worse airline in the world) Air France. BA even has foot rests in coach! We flew LH recently and were disappointed; nothing different from US Scare or UA or other U.S. carrier. Air France...well, I won't go into details but I'll never again fly them for intra-Europe flights. I like Thai and SG too, but I have not been on them in a couple years.
  17. you can also use opera which IMHO is much better and is faster than netscape and IE. www.opera.com it is a freeware with a small advert unless you buy. Very stable program.
  18. I would avoid Bloomsbury. The Hotel Russel is a dump. Worse supposed 4* I've even been subjected to.
  19. This also happens with hotwire regarding airfares. Again the range of prices can be as wide as $10-$15. For example, I just tried LAS-LGW and got $771 on IE, $781 on Netscape, and $771 on Opera. LAS to LHR was $699 on IE $682 on Netscape and $699 on Opera. The point is, if you are about to purchase on hotwire and you are a cheapskate like me, it is worth the effort to search your hotel or airfare at the time of purchase in more than one browser. As long as you do not take too much time, you will never be worse off for doing so.
  20. I use opera as my main browser and I've noticed this difference before. The difference often can be over $10. I just did a search for Vegas Strip zone and got the following results for a 4* customer favorite: IE: 190 Netscape: 185 Opera: 180 I then tried a different date for downtown Vegas. Got these results for the GN IE: 141 Netscape:141 Opera: 130 I then tried Flagstaff for 8/14 and got the following: IE: 2.5 star $82 2.5 star Suite $84 3 star $103 Netscape: 2.5 star $77 2.5 star Suite $81 3 star $102 Opera: 2.5 star $77 2.5 star Suite $81 3 star $102 I then tried the Loop in Chicago IE: 4 Star $87 Netscape 4 Star $87 Opera 4 Star $87 I tried one more on the Strip for 8/19 and got this for the V 5 star IE: 116 Netscape: 130 Opera: 120 I've done several other comparisons and even if I change the order of browsers in sending the request opera and netscape are consistently lower (but not always) than IE. Many times the difference is significant, over $10 a night. The mode case, however, is the difference is small if any.
