  1. Won on 1st bid. Probably should have started lower and implemented some of the re-bidding techniques listed on this site. Overall, pretty happy with the rate though.
  2. Hotwire is back up now. Thanks for the info. Neither of those prices seem like great deals. Any idea on what this one (with no pool...if that information helps) would be: Hollywood - West Hollywood 3.5* Best Value Restaurant, Business Center On another note, if I decide to try a Priceline bid, what would be the appropriate amount to bid for a 4* in Beverly Hills - West Hollywood and what method could I use to try to avoid the Beverly Hilton since it has such bad reviews from Priceline/Hotwire users?
  3. Since I had such great luck booking a hotel for San Diego, I'm going to see if the collective wisdom of this site can help me find a good hotel in LA as well. I'm looking for a hotel in the Hollywood - West Hollywood area or the Beverly Hills - Westwood - Century City area for the night of the 26th of March. I am wondering if anyone could help identify these properties: Hollywood - West Hollywood 4* $170 Customer Favorite, Restaurant, Pool, Gym Hollywood - West Hollywood 3.5* $115 "Best Value" Restaurant, Business Center Beverly Hills - Westwood - Century City 3.5* $133 Restaurant, Pool, Gym (I feel pretty sure that the 4 star for $136 in Beverly Hills is the Beverly Hilton but I'm not very interested in that hotel after reading the Trip advisor reviews, I'm curious what they call a 3.5 star in the same area though.)
  4. I booked it (using your link :)). It turned it out it to be the Westin Horton, which is right by Glasslamp and is a true 4 Star hotel. It's $200/night on their site and I got it for $105 so I'm very happy with my purchase. Thanks for the help. I love the site.
  5. Thank you for the advice. This is such a great site. Do you think that this is the Hilton Airport/Harbor Island or the Hilston Gaslamp? Expedia shows the Airport Hilton as a 3* and the Gaslamp as a 3.5*. I've heard Hotwire inflates star ratings though. I would be thrilled to get the Westin Horton or the Hilton Gaslamp for $102. I'd be kinda dissapointed to pay that and get the Hilton out by the airport. Has anyone ever gotten the Hilton Island Airport Hilton on Hotwire? If so, what was the star rating? Thanks again.
  6. One follow up question. I have used Hotwire on several occasions but I have never really used Priceline. Would a safe way to stay out of the Sheraton but still get a 4 star be to bid $104 on Priceline in the Downtown - Harbor Island area? Or is there a good chance that the lowest acceptable bid on Priceline for that hotel is lower than the Hotwire price?
  7. I'm looking on Hotwire for San Diego (Downtown - Harbor Island) for 3/23/05-3/26/05. I see a 4* for $105/night with Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center, Business Center. It is also listed as "Best Value". Much of the discussions on this board lead me to believe it is the Sheraton Marina. Is that the opinion of anybody else? I would rather stay closer to the Gaslamp district. There is a also a 3.5* in Downtown - Harbor Island with the exact same amenities for $88/night. I was wondering if anyone has a good guess on what hotel that might be. I would probably be inclined to go down to the lower star rating if it meant getting closer to Gaslamp. Thanks in advance for your advice.
