Used your link to book on HOTWIRE last night and confirmed that it is the LaGuardia Airport Hotel. Will take my chances with the 55% approval rating as it's only 1 night! mixed reviews on TripAdvisor. Hotel is attractive as it's close to airport with free shuttle and free breakfast. Arrived at 6 p.m. at this hotel. Handwritten "Sold Out" sign on the front door. The front desk clerk said there is a "discrepancy" with my booking. Not sure why but he promptly said he would call around for another similar room and Clarion Hotel would pay for it. After a few calls to other hotels, he was able to find a room with 2 beds at the Days Hotel. Days Hotel has similar amenities incl. complimentary breakfast. The Clarion is convenient as it's off Interstate 95 and about 5-10 min. from airport. There is a Cracker Barrel and Friendly's across the street. So off we went to the Days Hotel which is more convenient to the airport (across the street). Check in was smooth and no problems encountered with the move from Clarion. While I was checking in at Days, someone inquired about a room for the night and was quoted $169/nt. See comments for Days Hotel under "Hotel Reviews" tab. Upon my return home, I sent an email to Hotwire asking for an explanation about the "discrepancy" as this is my first Hotwire booking. I wondered why Clarion waited until I showed up at 6 p.m. to start looking for another room. I was advised that "...hotel over-bookings do occur in the hotel industry and are not unique to Hotwire customers. Our hotel partners have established policies to address this situation. This requires them to re-accommodate you in another property of equal standard, as close as possible." In the end, Hotwire applied 99 HotDollars to my account, which was the cost of the room not incl. tax and charges. I was very happy with this result and will continue to use Hotwire and this website!

There is a restaurant on site, The Landing Bar and Grill. There is also a Tim's next door! The hotel is right across from the Buffalo Int'l Airport but I didn't hear any plane noise. Our room faced the back of the hotel. Free breakfast was OK - bagels with cream cheese or peanut butter, yogurt, boiled eggs, toast, pastries, usual beverages. Enough to get a start on the day without going outside. Staff were all very friendly. Room had 2 double beds, nothing fancy but clean. I liked that the sink is separate & outside the bathroom (bath tub and toilet) so others can still use sink and vanity when bathroom is occupied. Handy when there were 4 of us in the room. Elevator. Did not use Pool and exercise room. Snack machines nr. elevator. Short but sweet visit.

TripAdvisor reviews on JFK International Hotel indicate 2/5 rating with 78% not recommending it - scary! The other 2 Hotwire choices with different star ratings did not have shuttle icon. Decided not to take a chance with less than stellar reviews on these 3 choices on HOTWIRE. Booked directly at Comfort Inn with AAA discounted rate of $117/nt. using this Board's Support/Travel Links. Stayed here before and will stick to this as it's convenient to airport with shuttle and breakfast. Found Comfort Inn clean and safe the last time. I'll be arriving late at night and then leaving early in a.m. so no need for alot of amenities. Thanks again for your opinions and your links.

What a difference a day makes!! My search just now on Hotwire revealed that the 4* hotels in Gaslamp Quarter are sold out for Oct. 18-20th and you can see the hotel being offered for $209.30/nt. It is the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. So now I'm very, very happy with my booking at Hotel Indigo for $122/nt. for 2 adults and 2 children. Yes, price changes depending on number of adults but usually children are "free" and they will have enough beds for them. Perhaps the ASA convention (thanks for info, joehotel) is taking all the available rooms. I'm glad I didn't stick to my initial strategy of waiting until it was closer to my trip so that the price will go down. Thank you betterbidding.com for saving me $200 on my 2 night stay in SD! :)
