  1. Based on the HW hotel wins reported to the BB Board, your guess appears to match the hotel you cite. The moderators are excellent at helping identify any additional options that may be applicable, however, so wait for their input and good luck bidding!
  2. Is this the HW Super Savings deal that is now priced at $89/night? Prices often change, so I wanted to check to be sure.
  3. As you are probably aware, inventory changes and great deals today often disappear (or get better) the closer to the date you're looking at. Always difficult to predict, but the listed hotel is a good rate for NYC. Good luck!
  4. You don't need to wait until the last week to bid on any PL trip, airfare or hotel. Depending on your ability to make connections and possibly have up to a 4 hour wait between connections, you can start bidding now. SJO has somewhat limited service from ORD even with connections, so I'd wait to see what the moderators have to say. They are excellent on their advice. What's the lowest price trip you have found on any retail site? Checking PL retail and Orbitz sites after posting, you can get fairly reasonable connections in the $639 R/T range. Out Aeromexico, back US Airways. If those work for you, I'd look at bidding much less than $550 R/T as your outbound and return flight departures aren't guaranteed as to times of departure. Good luck!
  5. I understand, as that has often happened to me, too. Inventory and prices on HW actually DO change rapidly as I've found out (it's not just an ad promo). I've posted inquiries to the Board and when comments were provided by the Moderators that same day, they couldn't find my "deal." I click back to provide them with more specific information and the deal had disappeared. Good luck!
  6. The Lincoln Park area is an option too, or even Skokie-Niles-Evanston if you don't mind driving to the L to take the train south to Wrigley Field (if that is your primary purpose for going). It's more complicated than being closer in, but hotel prices may be better if that's the main consideration. I lived near this area for 5 years and took the L downtown and by Wrigley every day. Just suburbia, however, if you're looking to do something different, then the City areas should be your choices. Good luck! I'm sure the moderators will be able to point you in the right direction.
  7. Excellent advice. I've screwed up several times over the years when booking a PL name your own price hotel for the exact same reason, or because I thought I had changed a zone but had actually added a differnt zone to my bid. I try my best to triple check the bid summary page to be sure it's accurate before clicking on the buy my hotel link, and if I'm still a bit uncertain, I go back and re-enter the bid information to be sure I am right!
  8. Is this the HW Listing for $158/night? The hotel with these ammenities does not yet appear to have been reported to the Board as a win. You can check out prior HW wins with hotel ammenities by clicking through the Board's "hotels-other countries" link. The moderators are excellent at focuing in on the most likley candidates for this hotel and they can surely assist to identify this excellently-priced property for you. Good luck!
  9. I agree with Rhine-and Roses about the La Defense area. We booked it several years ago because it was much cheaper for our dates in Paris, but found it to be very inconvenient for tourist-type activities. Good luck!
  10. The airport locations are usually your best option because of the number of cars available and the number of different rental car companies in the same location, but that really limits you to DTW (Detoit Wayne County Int'l airport) in Southeast Michigan. If you are in a specific city you can check the PL retail inventory to see if cars exist, then click on the "name your own price" to see if it's allowed for that city. If so, follow Thereuare's advice for bidding at a location nearer to where you'd be located (and most likely less of a hassle than getting dropped off at an airport location). If your location doesn't allow name your own price bidding, you may be stuck with the DTW airport location. Good luck!
  11. Would you be so kind as to supply the exact dates and total costs for your stay? Thanks!
  12. Thanks for the update and information. I appreciate it and will keep the Board posted if I try this route. As always, all searches, bids and wins are made through the BB Board's links!
  13. The moderators will be able to help you structure a bidding protocol for the best approach to this request. My comment is on the timing of bidding. With hotel inventory constantly changing, it's difficult to predict whether more or less inventory will be available in the future. I like to bid consistently over time once my dates are confirmed, and when I am certain on my dates and sure that i'm willing to lose a great hotel deal if something pops up where I cannot make it. Good luck!
  14. What is your desired price range and star quality? Grapevine area clearly keeps you out of the airport hotel (although I too have stayed there, enjoyed it, but the parking was pricey). The moderators will be able to help you focus on the best approach for this Saturday.
  15. Checked the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins above and only a 4* win reported at $160 during part of your dates. HW doesn't show anything else at all in the under $100 range. The moderators will be able to help you figure out a strategy to address the best prices and hotels for your schedule. Not sure if anything special going on that weekend. Good luck!
  16. Good Luck and keep the Board posted of any wins, and be sure to bide through the BB Priceline or HOTWIRE links on the Board.
  17. Great win. Thanks for sharing. We're heading there in November and February 2012 and appreciate the update.
  18. Glad you were able to get a hotel that you were satisfied with. New York is expensive!
  19. Link for PRICELINE is in the upper right corner of this page. I've been to Paris a dozen times and lots of areas are near the main tourist areas, especially if you consider how easy the Metro is to get around. We usually try to stay around the Les Halles/Opera East or West areas, but they are usually more expensive than other areas. The moderators will be able to help you pick the best areas for the best prices. Check the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins link above, check you days and see what others might have been able to get for good prices. Staying in cheaper areas will still let you get around and enjoy your trip saving money. Good luck!
  20. Do the retail prices noted above provide any guidance on the prospective hotel that a PL bid would award at this price for these dates? That is, is it more likely that the lower priced hotel on the PL retail side is the hotel that will have the lower price on the opaque side?
  21. But you are right that the moderators will have excellent advice on how best to maximize the best price for your stay including the New Years Eve night. Best of luck to you!
