  1. Hmmm....I have a feeling that it IS the Hyatt (in my opinion). Maybe they added to the listed amenitites since according to Hyatt.com that hotel does have all of those amenities. If it is the Hyatt, the PATH Train Station is literally only about 50 feet from the lobby exit - it takes you right under the river into Manhattan in minutes. I stayed here last year, it is a wonderful hotel with amazing views of the skyline. Let us know what happens.
  2. I just had a great stay at the Marriott Philadelphia West (Philly Suburbs- West Conshohocken, PA) Oct. 27-29. I won the room through Priceline for $55.00 - it is the only 3* (so far!) in the Plymouth Meeting Zone. The staff at this hotel was exceptional. They went above and beyond for me. We were bumped up to a Junior Suite (I did not ask for an upgrade). It was a corner room with huge windows and a fabulous view. The hotel's decor was so nice, not tacky like many hotels. The room had a modern design with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. The bathroom was large and had a separate vanity area (so I could get ready while my husband was showering!) and stocks high quality toiletries by Bath & Body Works. USA Today was delivered to our room each morning. Regatta, the onsite restaurant/bar had a great buffet and regular menu and was also pleasing to the eye. The lobby was large and always had complimentary Hershey Kisses, Iced Tea, Lemonade, or Apple Cider. Parking was $8.00 per night. The hotel is about 13 miles from Center City Philadelphia. Next door there is a McDonalds and across the street there is a WaWa convenience store. This is a very busy traffic area though so be prepared. I highly recommend this hotel.
  3. I got it too. Luckily most of us know this is some a-hole trying to steal from us. Message: To activate your paypal account , you must enter your Email Address and Password in the corresponding dialog box of http://bbs.xvsxp.com/account.php.
  4. I realized that I forgot to put the full name of the hotel: Marriott Philadelphia West West Conshohocken, PA This hotel was great by the way. Amazing service, bumped up to a Junior Suite!
  5. I think if the desk personnel thinks you are being too pushy or asking for too much - like a free upgrade, they are less likely to give you something if you already got a great bargain through Priceline. On a recent trip to a resort in Hilton Head (booked through Priceline for a steal) I was just extra friendly and nice to the desk clerk and I did not ask for a thing. I commented on how beautiful the hotel was, etc. He then told me he bumped me up to an oceanfront room.
  6. Thanks BlueSkies. You are right - I will not tell the other guests about my "deal," that would not be nice.
  7. Under Priceline Pennsylvania I recently posted my winning bid for Philly Suburbs. This is for the night before my friend's wedding since I'm from out of town I wanted to get there early, plus I'm in the Bridal Party. (The wedding and reception are in this hotel) The night after the wedding I did not yet book. The rate for the wedding guests is $112.00 for Friday night. I spent $55.00 for Thursday night through Priceline and want to try the "add a night" feature that Priceline hotels sometimes allow. My question is - is it rude for me to be in the wedding party and book my room through Priceline instead of through the hotel using the wedding rate as was instructed in the wedding invitation? I am assuming all of the wedding guests will be in the same section of the hotel but I don't care about that part. I just didn't know if this would be considered rude to "bargain shop." By the way, I am on a tight budget - I'm not cheap! Your advice is welcome - even if you tell me I'm rude to even consider it! Thanks!!!!
  8. This is the only 3* hotel in this zone and I wanted it since I am in my friend's wedding there the next day. The price on the Marriott website was $269.00 so $55.00 is a great deal. $55.00 was my first bid and was accepted (to my surprise).
  9. Besides the Chinatown bus, for a few dollars more (I think $17. each way) you can take the train. Take the Septa R7 train from Philly to Trenton, NJ, then in Trenton hop on the NJ Transit Northeast Corridor Train, which goes into New York Penn Station. This is so much cheaper than Amtrak, which is a complete rip off. www.njtransit.com www.septa.com Have fun - Go Eagles!
  10. Thumbs up on this Resort. I added a review in "Hotel Reviews" HERE.
  11. I stayed here May 7-8, 2005 via Priceline ($85.00). You can see my win under South Carolina - Priceline- Hotels Won. The resort was better than I expected. When I walked in the grand lobby there was an immediate view of the gorgeous pool and ocean. The desk staff was very courteous and upgraded me to an oceanview room! I didn't even ask for an upgrade so I was happy. All rooms here have balconies with either an ocean view or garden view. There are 10 floors in all. The room itself was very nice with tropical, yet very tasteful decor. We ate at Quinn's II which was near the pool - you sit outside. The service, food, and drinks were all great. There were other restaurants that I didn't try. There was a great gift shop and a coffee shop that served Starbucks and Krispy Kreme, yum and yum. They had 2 pools - one indoor and one outdoor. Both were clean and well maintained. There was a great pool bar outside which served expensive but delicious drinks. Lounge chairs go fast so wake up early! The hotel provides pool towels outside at the sundries hut. Overall, if you bid and win on this hotel I feel you would be very happy. Some reviews I read on other websites were a little negative but my experience was first-class all the way around.
  12. I stayed here a few years ago and it was an exquisite, gorgeous resort - I highly recommend it!
  13. This hotel had a great location right off Dupont Circle. To get a bite to eat or grab the Metro was a 3 minute walk. The front desk staff was lovely and let us check in 3 hours early. Our room was smoking, King Size bed, with unfortunately, a view of the other side of the building and some dumpsters. The windows opened a few inches, which I love in a hotel. Please note that there are no rooms with 2 double beds in this hotel, only King or 2 Twin Bed rooms are offered. We had a third person and they brought a very comfy, thick rollaway bed. The Heavenly Bed mattress and duvet set with matching pillows made me feel like I was sleeping on big poofy clouds - so comfy! The bathroom had a dual shower head which was awesome. Plenty of counter space and nice soaps/shampoos. No fan though so the bathroom got stuffy. The main bar in the lobby had the nicest bartenders in the world. It was decorated very nice and modern, not tacky like many hotel bars. I mentioned the location earlier - I really like Dupont Circle and it's shops and eateries. You can wake up and walk to a coffeeshop within minutes. There is a CVS that I visited about 3 times (it is open 24 hours). It is a clean area with many diverse people. We took the Metro to the Zoo, Museums, etc. - it was so easy. Overall, happy with the Westin Embassy Row! Great price of $100./night through HOTWIRE helped too (Went April 23-25, 2005).
  14. Thank you so much, I really learned a lot by reading that. One question - I only used Priceline once to bid on a Resort in Hilton Head Island - there were no other zones or anything under a Resort level and I think it then let me re-bid using a different dollar amount - is that the norm?
  15. Update on Westin Embassy Row! They do not have any rooms in the hotel with 2 double beds, only a King or 2 twin beds. I chose 2 adults and 1 child under 18 when booking the room. The front desk assured me a rollaway - I just hope I don't have to pay for it. Just wanted to let you all know this in case you are planning on staying here - seems like it's only good for singles/couples.
  16. The Westin - Embassy Row 2100 Massachusetts Avenue NW 4* Amenities: Restaurant, Fitness Center, Tennis Nearby 4/25/05-4/27/05 $103.00 per night At Westin's website the room was $189. so I am happy with the significant savings. Thank you! - I knew it was the Westin thanks to this board - my friends are so impressed with me now that I got this cheap rate for us. :)
  17. I am a happy gal today! I first bid $75.00, was rejected and rebid. Details: Hilton Head Marriott Beach and Golf Resort $85.00 May 7-8 I went to Marriott.com and the rooms are $259.00! All rooms have balconies which I am happy about. I will give a review when I get back. Thanks! PS - I used SavingsBarn.com to link to PRICELINE.
  18. I guess this is not the Holiday Inn since it's not Beachfront. Any ideas? 3* Hilton Head 5/7- 5/8 $55.00 Near Beach Pool Fitness Center Children's Activities Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Laundry Facilities Thanks!
  19. Hi - thanks for your quick reply. Good idea regarding the discreet check-in. I appreciate all of your help.
  20. I'm going to DC in April or May. There will be 3 adults in our room so I need 2 beds (which Hotwire allows for now from what I've read). When I checked prices for "3 adults" they were one price, when I changed the search to 2 adults and 1 child the rates dropped dramatically, about $50 per night! Do you think I could get away with booking "2 adults and 1 child?" My cousin is 22 but maybe she can pass for 16? LOL! PS - I am looking at Westin Embassy Row or Grand Hyatt in DC. April 22-April 24.
  21. Does this help? (from 10best.com): Description: ADAMS MORGAN. The 9:30 Club is always packed with concertgoers, so get there early if you want a good spot. You may see your favorite star on stage, like Bob Dylan, Fiona Apple, or R.E.M. The club also sponsors some local bands. Four bars and a large dance floor can accommodate large groups, but you may find it hard to dance because of all the fans. To avoid the surrounding neighborhoods, which can sometimes be unsafe, your best bet is to take the Metro or a cab. 22. It saved all of the amenities when I checked the purchase under "My Account." If you hadn't told me to check there I wouldn't have - I had no idea it stored previous buys with all of the details, pretty cool.
  23. In September I got the Hilton in Parsippany, NJ. Details: Hilton Parsippany 3.5* Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center, Business Center, Tennis Nearby. $59. (9/11/04) Nice hotel but it took 10 minutes to walk to my room on 1st floor - I had to walk past all of these empty conference rooms down long hallways- kind of strange. Room service was great and fast! They have a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse here which I have heard wonderful things about.
  24. This past 4th of July Weekend I booked this deal on Hotwire: Hilton Washington Embassy Row 2015 Massachusetts Ave 4* Amenities listed (as of June 2004) Restaurant, Fitness Center, Business Center, Tennis Nearby, Laundry. (They have a (rooftop) pool in the hotel but no mention of it on hotwire). $ 83./night - not bad for Fourth of July Weekend. PS- Nice hotel, great location. Was very happy!
  25. Thanks. I will keep you posted and use the link. I may wait another week or two before booking.
