  1. Bid $62, counteroffered $75, increased bid by $1 until it accepted $65. Express Deals is offering a deal for $73 (to gauge against the winning bid).
  2. Bid $40, was countered with $48, added a rebid zone and bid $42 (accepted). Reviews aren't wonderful, but it'll do for a night.
  3. Price through their website is $120/night. I was hoping to get this hotel and not the Hilton because the Crowne Plaza is right on the Light Rail. The give-aways are Golf Nearby (for this and the Doubletree) and Laundry Facilities (self-service). The Hilton only has dry cleaning, so that calmed my fears about getting that property. Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower
  4. Time for you to be the hero and tell some of the other wedding guests the bidding "strategy" ... and use this site's PRICELINE link of course.
  5. Going to Columbia University ... used the site's PRICELINE link. First attempt: Morningside-Harlem 3* (most likely the Aloft Harlem), bids up to $140 rejected. Second attempt: Upper West Side 4*, bid $120, countered at $145. Added Midtown West and bid $125, rejected. Added rebid zone and bid $128, accepted, UWS-Empire Hotel. As always, thanks guys, and thereuare -- Go Blue!
  6. W Chicago Lakeshore. 4*, North Michigan Ave - Water Tower Place - Gold Coast zone. Gave the following six amenities: Business Center, Fitness Center, Spa, Internet, Restaurant, Pool. Pleased with the hotel -- it's known to be great. Upset that prices this weekend are so high -- I'm not sure why that is!
  7. After WEEKS of bidding in the FLL Airport, Beach, Downtown, and Hollywood zones, finally got a hit during this peak cruise and spring break time. At the time, I was actually bidding on a 3* Hollywood zone hotel, but got upgraded to the 4* Westin Diplomat. Bid $86, and was countered at $106. I added a free rebid zone instead at $92 and won it. For those who are still looking, my bids were *rejected* up to these price levels in these zones in the past few days (for the night of 3/10/12): 3* FLL-Downtown $101 3* FLL-Airport $101 3* FLL-Beach $100 Thanks for the site and I make sure to use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links. GO BLUE!!!
  8. You bid on a 3*, and the reviews make this place seem like a 3*. If you wanted luxury, you should've bid on a 4/5*. Secondly, you only paid $55 a night. What do you expect? If you really want luxury, then just toss this reservation in the trash and shell out $150+ a night for a better place.
  9. Post-cruise stay in downtown FLL. Wanted the Beach area most, and Downtown was the second-best option. After a week or so of bidding, I finally got a hit. Did the following: 4* Beach Area - $85, reject 3.5* Beach Area - $80, reject 3.5* Beach and Downtown - $75, reject 3* Beach and Downtown - $71, accept, Riverside Hotel. Note that I used $70 Bonus Cash (from booking a cruise), so the LEAST amount I could bid was $71. If you're bidding for this, perhaps you could get it for slightly cheaper.
  10. Hmm, interesting. I am just confused because whenever I search that area on PRICELINE, only two hotels show up (no matter what dates I put in) -- the 2* Clarion and the 1* Days Inn (in Fredonia). I've never seen the Comfort Inn or Best Western show up on PRICELINE. The retail rate for the Clarion, which is what I'm looking to win, was $149 for that night (before it stopped showing up completely, which occurred 3 days ago). I already have a room reserved there for $135 due to the wedding that I'm going to, but I'm hoping to win it on PL and cancel that reservation. Thanks in advance my fellow Michigan Man! Go Blue!
  11. I'm looking to bid for 7/2-7/3 in Dunkirk, NY. I'm looking to get the Clarion -- which seems to be the only 2* in the area -- and have been bidding over the past two weeks; so far have gotten up to $70 and it has not accepted my offer. Today I go to bid, and for the first time ever it gives me the option of a 2.5* in Dunkirk. Does anyone know if a new hotel has been added to the list, or if they have upgraded the Clarion from 2* to 2.5*? And is there another source for past wins other than this forum? There is only one data point, and it is from 2004.
  12. Heading to the best city in Michigan (and the best University in the mid-west). Used the PRICELINE link -- thanks!
  13. thereuare is indeed right that this post would be stumbled upon down the line. I'm looking to stay in the Clarion (which used to be the Ramada Inn) in Dunkirk on the night of 7/2/11 -- only 7+ years after this (ONLY) data point was created. If only there was some more updated information about other hotels that have been added to PL and recent winning bids.
  14. Started at 60 dollars, and they counteroffered with $75. Rejected, added rebid zones for 4* hotels. After rebid in $1 dollar increments I got the hotel for $65.
  15. Started at 60 dollars added rebid zones for 4* hotels. After rebid in two dollar increments I got the hotel for $74
  16. I decided to pass on this Hotwire deal and instead bid on Priceline (and got a great deal) -- see my thread on that board for the details. Thanks!
  17. Heading to a conference, and was lucky enough to get the hotel the conference was in! Marriott Waterfront, 2 nights, $76/night (12/6-12/8/10). Here was my bidding strategy: 4*, Inner Harbor-Downtown: $65, counteroffer of $85 (I didn't take the counteroffer) added rebid zone, $70, rejected added rebid zone, $73, rejected added rebid zone, $76, accepted Got the option to add another night for the same price (but I didn't exercise that option).
  18. Used the HOTWIRE link to search, and came up with an opaque hotel that doesn't seem to necessarily fit any hotels on the Hotwire Hotel List thread...any help would be much appreciated. 12/6/10-12/8/10, 2 adults Baltimore, MD - Downtown/Inner Harbor 3*, $66 Fitness, Pool, High-Speed Internet 80% recommendation Any guesses?
  19. Might want to fix the thread title / Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins for this, it is a typo (8/12, not 9/12)
  20. Sorry to butt in, but I think he may be confused because there appears to only be 1 re-bid zone rather than the 3 zones you suggest (at least according to the Priceline hotel post on this site).
  21. Just needed a place to stay after Disney on Thursday and before heading to San Diego on Friday... used this bidding combination and eventually got the 3.5* Doubletree Santa Ana/OC Airport for $44 for 7/29/10-7/30/10. $37 3.5* Costa Mesa/Irvine -- Priceline offer to rebid by increasing by $10, I rejected $40 3.5* Costa Mesa/Irvine + Laguna Beach -- rejected $42 3.5* Costa Mesa/Irvine + Laguna Beach + Newport/Huntington Beach -- rejected $44 3.5* Costa Mesa/Irvine + Laguna Beach + Newport/Huntington Beach + Dana Pt/San Clemente -- accepted Unfortunate that I'll still have to pay resort fees and parking out in Santa Ana, but I think it's still a pretty good deal. Rack rate is $129 and the opaque Hotwire price seems to be $61.
  22. Is this the Doubletree Irvine/Spectrum or the Doubletree Santa Ana? There are two 3.5* Doubletrees in this zone.
  23. I'm sure that some of the advanced members here (Colfax, Thereuare) can help you on a bidding strategy; it depends on how many zones you are willing to accept (I was OK with Downtown/harbor island, coastal, and mission valley -- but mission valley may not be acceptable to you and you very well might win a hotel there, cuz it's generally cheaper than the other two). If you are OK with spending $75 (and don't want to bother to try to get it for less), you could just bid on 3* on Priceline and choose only the Downtown region, and bid $75 (note that I tried $70 and it did not work, so the "true price" must have been very close to $75). Keep in mind, however, that you might not get it for the same deal -- I was only bidding on Friday night (may be cheaper than the weekend), and I made my purchase 36 hours ago (prices may have risen).
  24. Sorry to butt in, but what do you think is a "decent deal"? I know the OP was looking for 3* at least, but a quick glance at Hotwire for next week (assuming he/she waits to book until the week before) shows Fullerton 2* for $39. Seeing as that is hotwire, what would you expect Priceline to have? Has anyone ever gotten a 1* or 2* in Disney area or Fullerton for, say, around $20 or less? I'm curious as to the lowest bid you've ever seen accepted for this area.
