  1. I couldnt get the price I wanted on Priceline either. Someone on this forum recommended lastminutetravel.com. For the weekend your looking for you can stay in downtown Philly at the following rates: 3.5* center city $91/night 3* old city $86/night- Holiday Inn Historic District 3.5* center city $86/night Crowne Plaza
  2. Go to lastminutetravel.com....3* Holiday Inn Historic District $86, 3.5* Crowne Plaza $86 as well. I am going to be in Philly in the beginning of April, I booked Holiday Inn Historic District via lastminutetravel (I had the same issue you did, I tried for a week on Priceline with no luck) and called after my reservation was confirmed to ask for double beds in each room. (Lastminutetravel gives you an option to check on bed preference, I checked 2 beds per room and when I called they originally had me down for 1 bed in each room) They accepted my request and I just hope they live up to their word when I check in.
  3. Decided to book the Holiday Inn Historic District 3* for $86 a night on LASTMINUTETRAVEL.COM, I was a little skeptical about the site but decided to book it because Holiday Inn Historic District was my first choice due to its' proximity to bars, clubs and restaurants, easy on and off I-95 and cheapest hotel parking in Philly. Thanks for the advice!
  4. Denied again, 3* at $74. I have never had this difficult of a time on Priceline. 4* counter at $89 but I declined.
  5. Sorry, I'll try to explain better. Under the Priceline Hotel list there are no 1.5*, 2* or 2.5* hotels in downtown Philly. So if I do click on for instance 2* hotel and submit an offer am I essentially bidding on a 3* hotel or higher? I am just asking because if I get denied a 3* instead of logging out I'd like to increase my chances by increase the $ amount and adding 2* into the bid in hopes that I would get a 3* hotel or higher.
  6. I have tried Hotwire.com, rates are fairly high. I usually have better luck with priceline.com. I'll try again today. Any answer on 1*, 2* and 2.5* hotels in downtown Philly? Would I essentially be bidding on a 3* hotel if I select the lower stars?
  7. I have read a lot of bad reviews about lastminutetravel.com.
  8. I am having trouble booking 2 rooms in downtown Philly for 4/1/11-4/3/11. My hockey team is playing in a regional tournament there. Last year I bid and won the Courtyard by Marriott which worked out perfect 3*, I believe I won the bid at $68 a night (2 rooms). This year I am having a difficult time bidding on 2 rooms. I prefer a 3* hotel as the locations are the best where as 3.5* are a little scattered and 4* parking is outrageous. Either way for the past 3 days I have submitted multiple bids, beginning with 4* at $68, knowing I have no chance but worth a free bid (I was offered a counterprice at $89 for a 4 star but I dont want to spend that much). I then went down to 3* and bid at $71 and was denied again. I even tried 2.5* at $72 and was denied. If I bid at 2* and 1.5* in downtown Philly only, the minimum star hotel I will actually receive is 3* correct? I am hoping for Courtyard by Marriott, Doubletree or Holiday Inn Historic District. Any advice? When does Priceline.com change their "Best Deal" location? It has been Philly Intl Airport for the past couple of days now.
  9. New to the forum but have been bidding via Priceline for over a year. After four or five failed bids I was asked to up my bid to $145 a night for a 4* hotel in every location in Manhattan except the UES and UWS. Staying at Millenium Hilton. Mixed emotions about it. Have previously stayed in Midtown at Intercontinental Barclay and Warwick. Somewhat glad to be downtown because I wanted to be closer to SOHO, East Village nightlife.
