  1. BTW -- breakfast at the Lisbon Marriott is excellent (or was about a year ago). IIRC, they had the most wonderful freshly pressed orange juice :) and lots of other goodies. You should know that the Marriott is quite a way out of the center of the city -- not within walking distance -- but good public transportation. A bus near the hotel entrance will take you to the metro station (right next to the zoo), and then it's a quick ride to the city center.
  2. Hi, They all came in at various prices -- the cheapest was the flight from Kailua-Kona back to Honolulu on Feb. 8th at $45 per person ($51 incl. taxes) GOOD DEAL. Honolulu to Maui was $69 pp plus tax, and Maui to Kailua-Kona $61 plus tax. Possible that I mixed up the last two, but our confirmations are back in Germany and we are on Tenerife at the moment. All of these flights are with Hawaiian Airlines (click through on support page here).
  3. And, BTW, I remembered to book all our inter-island flights (Honolulu-Maui, Maui-Kona, Kona-Honolulu) using the HAWAIIAN AIRLINES support page link above!! :)
  4. First bid at $112 -- I've been seeing winning bids of $110 and just put it up $2.00 to get it done quickly. Guess I've gotten the next trip taken care of -- YAHOO!! 4 nights at $112.00 = $448.00 Taxes / Service Fees 67.30 TOTAL $515.30 Cheapest I've spotted on regular sites is about $265 per night -- another great deal, thanks to other posters reporting their wins. Naturally used the PRICELINE link above!! :)
  5. Moving right along with our Hawaii plans... :) After searching for several weeks, this was offered by Hotwire this morning: Aqua Aloha Surf & Spa (a new one for the lists, I think. Has only appeared on the package list page up to now.) 444 Kanekapolei Street Honolulu Icons: Boutique, near beach, breakfast, pool, laundry, hi-speed internet. 2 nights @ $65 $ 130.00 Taxes & Fees $ 19.88 TOTAL $149.88 (minus $31.03 hot Dollars from a previous refund) Relatively good deal (about $105 per night on most sites, although only about $68 on Hotels.com 24-hr. sale) and the ratings are more than decent (27th of 95 hotels in Honolulu). I had narrowed it down to the Aqua Aloha or the Aqua Bamboo after checking through the Hotwire packages for Honolulu, since both had over 4 of 5* and 200+ Tripadvisor ratings (as noted in the Hotwire offer). I see now that the Bamboo and the Aloha are also listed in the package alternatives here on the BB lists. HOTWIRE link above naturally!!
  6. First narrowed this down on Hotwire (by checking packages with car and/or with flight) at $140 per night. Bid $117 on Priceline and was counteroffered at $139. 2 free rebids ($126 and $131). SUCCESS! Cheapest price on Hotels.com or elsewhere was $235 per night. 4 nights - Room per night ($131.00) $524.00 Taxes & Service Fees 77.58 TOTAL CHARGES $601.58 This is for some of the days of our Hawaii trip on the United Air "Fare Glitch" from EWR-HNL ($292 per person all-in) :) Naturally used the PRICELINE link above!!
  7. I'm looking at a 3* Ft. Myers - RSW Airport hotel for January 15-16 - at $79 - with following icons: No-Smoking Breakfast Fitness Pool Internet Seems to be Country Inn & Suites, but No-Smoking icon is new and Laundry is missing, according to the Hotwire list. (Country Inn website is only offering non-smoking room option, but doesn't mention that the entire hotel is non-smoking. Website cheapest price is $ 139 non-refundable.) What do you think?
  8. Only today -- 08/08/08 -- the Affinia chain of hotels is offering $88 rooms for Sunday nights through Spring, 2009. (Look at www.affinia.com and click on the Magic 8 rates) The hotels are in Washington, D.C., Chicago and NYC. I was able to book the Affinia 50 (50th St. & 3rd Ave., NYC) at $ 88 plus tax (total $103) for a Sunday night in February. Their regular rate is around $ 400. enjoy :)
  9. In NYC and other cities (especially for 3* hotels) you may very well just get one 54" wide double bed. Although we all really think that is too narrow for 2 people, it's called a "double" bed presumably because it was originally meant to be used for 2 people (still is in the UK, for example). But, body measurement has certainly gotten "broader" in most countries over the past couple of centuries. :) And, BTW, there are several hotels in NYC which have rooms too small to contain a bed larger than a "double".
  10. Spotted that someone had won this for the same timeframe, so clicked on the PRICELINE link above and then checked through my Bonus Cash (had $50, so wasted $30 of it :) ) before bidding $62 per night. This Courtyard is very central in Munich - 1 block from the main train station. Total with taxes + fees for 2 nights was $156.39. Regular price on Marriott.com is
  11. Hi, I think if you copy your request onto a thread for Priceline bidding, you would probably get more help. Most people that post in the Hotwire threads are looking for help with I.D.ing a hotel, not a strategy for bidding. :)
  12. I don't know if it will help you, but I found a better rate for you at www.billiger-mietwagen.de The website is in German, but is easily understandable and you can probably find a button at the site to read it in English. We rent cars through this consolidator all the time and almost always has the best prices (even for Vancouver last year). For
  13. Fantastic idea! Unfortunately, we won't be back in the NYC area until late January 2009 (when we are hoping to take advantage of a VERY short lived EWR-HNL (Honolulu) flight that we booked on United for $292 per person all-in round-trip. Sorry, the fare was gone before I even had a chance to post it, and happened when I was online in the middle of a sleepless night during our recent trip to the east coast.)
  14. Unfortunately, you are only guaranteed a room for 2 people -- which may be one double bed -- on PRICELINE. HOTWIRE is a bit easier, as you enter the number of people before the search is done. As to bedding decisions -- they are unfortunately not for you to make. Sometimes the hotel will ask 2 beds or 1 king -- just don't expect that possibility in NYC.
  15. I didn't get many Marriott points on my Marriott card (except for my extras, but not for room), but I did get 500 Miles & More (Lufthansa) Miles for recent stays at the Marriott Sydney Harbour (Australia) and the Richmond, VA Marriott Courtyard. My Sheraton Manhattan (NY) stay didn't post either way (miles or points), but I was very happy for my $103 per night!!
  16. For anyone not having luck with a direct Priceline or Hotwire win, this might be of interest: http://www.hotwire.com/travelticker/detail...king=deal-title W Hotel New York - $199 on select weekends, etc. through April 2009 - don't know if it will work with our HOTWIRE link above.
  17. At the moment Mary Poppins tickets are available at an excellent discount price at broadwaybox.com for performances until June 21st. (code: "classic") Register at the bb website and you'll get regular mailings.
  18. We had a perfectly fine 3 night post-cruise stay at the Copthorne Tara exactly one year ago. We won it for - IIRC- $76 per night. When we got there, they were offering upgrades to the executive rooms for GBP 35 per night extra. It was really worth the difference. We had a large room, free internet, free full breakfast in the executive club and free cocktails and snacks during happy hour. The biggest advantage of this hotel is the proximity to the Kensington High Street tube station -- less than a 5 minute walk. The hotel may not be great, but it's really o.k.
  19. Hi Zbenye, Afraid the $50 off coupon has been marked as "dead" on flyertalk. Too many got too greedy!!
  20. Thanks for posting your win. You'll help this site more now by using the new direct PRICELINE link - found just above here on the right.
  21. Here we go again... :) Didn't we have this discussion a few months ago?? Why don't we just leave things as they are -- seem to be working pretty well up to now! **If it's not broken, you don't need to fix it**
  22. Many, many thanks for the Gift Certificate! :) I am thrilled to win it as we are travelling a lot in the next 12 months and it will certainly come in handy! Greetings to everyone from Kiwiland. We arrived in Auckland, NZ after about 44 hours underway from Germany. Unfortunately, my suitcase decided to take a sidetrip to Melbourne, Australia before the final destination of Auckland. thereuare, thanks again for this great board and I hope to be able to do lots more contributing.
  23. First bid $75 for a 5* (no 5* hotels are on the list, but thought there might be something new) --- rejected. Then bid $73 for a 4* in this zone (only listing is the Renaissance) "Small chance" message appeared and I ignored it. Accepted at $73 - This hotel is not far from DUS Airport (and we are flying out the next morning to EWR) 1 Night @... $73.00 Taxes etc....$14.81 TOTAL........$87.81 Savingsbarn.com -- naturally :)
