  1. Since Priceline considers your bid a 'purchase contract' to buy a hotel room if they have one to sell, I can see that using an invalid credit card can be considered fraud. I too have sometimes been tempted to go down that road (since it's easy to get invalid credit card numbers) but I think it's way too risky and can have too many ramifications. Just my $.02. Obviously making a MISTAKE and entering a bad credit card is one thing -- but that's a one-off. A pattern of invalid credit cards is just asking for trouble. Just another post in the long line of 'ok, this shouldn't really be posted' posts :)
  2. *#@$%#$ People who lurk and steal codes even after specifically not being asked to are probably the same sort of low-lifes that drive 40 in a 55mph zone in the left lane. OK, just had to rant and rave about a couple of pet peeves :) Oh well, that's the last code I post. Thanks for ruining it for everyone, lurker.
  3. Here's one: LNK USED PLEASE REPLY IF YOU USE IT AND I MIGHT POST ANOTHER. I really hate lurkers who abuse this type of service. Thanks! No PM/email for more codes please.
  4. Got this for a July weekend. By taxes overbid by a couple of bucks ($31 is the calculated PL rate). So it looks like that's the rate for several airport hotels in the weekend in the SFO airport area.
  5. Hit it right on the money based on bid history. Regular 21 day non refundable rate was $61 so wasn't that great a deal compared to other Priceline deals, but half price for suites is still not bad. Just a note for people who calculate the Priceline rate based on the taxes- if you are charged 20% taxes, that is the max Priceline will charge, so Priceline sometimes will eat the difference (in case of bonus money, etc). So with 20% taxes, you can not always accurately calculate the Priceline rate, so you have to use your bid history.
  6. Glad you folks found good use for them. Sorry for jumping the gun there on the post; appreciate the details. I'm sure it'd be best if you can also post them in the right forum (if you haven't already). Have a good day!
  7. Again, someone used the bonus money and then didn't post. Tsk tsk tsk. Don't you people understand to SHARE? Here's another one: http://priceline1.m0.net/m/s.asp?HB8348249...2272516X167463X
  8. Looks like someone used BurBunny's (come on, post if you use them, that's the least you can do). Here's another. Only restriction: You have to post your results here, and you CAN'T post them on TOBB. http://priceline1.m0.net/m/s.asp?HB8348630...2272516X167463X Enjoy!
  9. I keep a spreadsheet of my Priceline stays and to date I have spent $2,652 on Priceline hotels, of which $300 was spent on the Priceline fee (I just booked my 50th Priceline stay). Total nights booked at Priceline hotels: 70. The hotel rates show my total for these stays would add up to $7,480, or I saved a total of $4829. Since some of the hotels show unrealistic rates when I check (ie I would never stay there at that rate, find somewhere else comparable) I would say that on average my hotel spending is about 40% of what I would expect to spend without Priceline. Anyone else keep this sort of statistics? The most I've paid through Priceline: Four nights at the Marriott Amsterdam (4*) for $350 The least I've paid through Priceline: Two nights at the Homestead Smyrna/Atlanta (2*) for $8 I've thrown away 3 stays (ie stays I booked but never went to) for a total loss of $46, including a stay at that Homestead (I booked two of those $1/night deals, but after the first time, didn't think it was worth a $1). I've never found a hotel cheaper at Hotwire. I have found airline tickets cheaper there, several times.
  10. Got this for a Fri-Sun weekend stay for $27, best available rate was $99. Tax calculations show that $37 was the Priceline rate so I got it right on the money. I bid early since I wanted to use the 10 buck bonus money, and it worked out awesome. I really like Embassy Suites. Free hot breakfast, suite style room, real nice at $99, let alone $27. Also noted that this hotel isn't on that 'other' bulletin board's list of hotels so consider this a Better Bidding exclusive! :)
  11. Not necessary. I know we all had that big argument on Flyertalk, but I pay to stay at Hilton for business travel so I am a Hilton HHonors Diamond (top level) member. :) Also SPG Platinum and Marriott Gold (recent level drop), so I'm covered on three of the big chains...
  12. I got this hotel for a weekend in May for $20 + $10 bonus link that was emailed to me. Based on thesqueegeekid's post on Flyertalk (and here, and TOBB) I reasoned the PL rate was $30 and gambled and bid on a 3* hotel. It also seems that when Priceline calculates its minimum acceptable bids that it takes bonus money into consideration... normally $20 would not be considered for a 3*, let alone 4*. If I may post like another overbearing moderator: You should never bid for a specific hotel in a zone, and you should never bid looking for an upgrade. But if you do, you can enjoy the thrill of victory (or the agony of defeat, which in this case, may be a stay at a Holiday Inn, etc :) )
  13. One night for $33. Taxes show I overbid by a buck.
  14. Are you sure you deleted your cookie? I've been refused too, puzzled over it, then realized I didn't delete the cookie right. Sometimes I go as far as to use another browser in case Internet Exploder is acting up. Never had the problem then.
  15. I've found out that Priceline uses three variables to determine unique accounts: 1) Credit Card Numbers (Use AMEX Private Payments or similar to get multiple numbers) 2) Email address (How many places give out free email these days?) 3) Internet cookies (You can delete Internet cookies in Explorer under Tools->Internet Options->Delete Cookies) Unlimited bids! Enjoy
  16. I got the Hyatt Regency Long Beach in Downtown Long Beach Zone (3*) for $38/night. Based on tax calculations I only overbid by a $1. The dates were Thu-Sun 2/6 - 2/9. Thanks for the forum. I hope you stomp all over TOBB and their smug attitude!
