  1. Well I finally got it...The four points by sheraton. I bid $65 before and it got rejected. So I lowered my bid to $63 and used bonus rewards for $9 per night, making my offer $72. And won this property. I believe this is the same one Hotwire has for $81, and cheapest I was able to get this was $102 when it was named. My budget was $50 per night but this property is located right across from where I needed to be so I suppose it was worth it :D
  2. Hey, I found a $58 price point for a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for a 2 star hotel in st catharines. I "named my own price" and bid $45 for the 2* property, but it was rejected. Now my question is... Any clues on which property it might be? Price of $87 is crossed out as being the price for other sites and price for express deal is $58 I suppose there's only 3 choices: - Comfort Inn - Days Inn - Capri Inn The express deal shows guaranteed amenities as: - Free Parking - Free Internet - Pets Allowed - Restaurant Capri Inn doesn't seem to have a restaurant but has complimentary breakfast would that count as a restaurant amenity? Hotel looks really nice! Days Inn has Free Parking, Free Internet, Pets Allowed, and Restaurant....and the price for the hotel is $87 per night on priceline.com...I'm thinking this is likely the hotel? But when it crosses out the $87 price as other site prices, does it mean that the other site price is the same as priceline.com? Priceline.com has this listed on sale for $87 from $109 Comfort Inn also has all the guaranteed amenities. I like the Capri Inn the best due to ratings and free breakfast...but doesn't look like that's going to be the one.
  3. Issue is...I need something as close to St Catharines as possible without paying the St Catharines prices lol. The Skyline also charges for parking etc.
  4. Skyline inn seems too far from where I'm headed.... I'm now looking towards Niagara Falls, Ontario - West area hotel. Amenities: Indoor Pool(s), Pool(s), High - Speed Internet Access, Free Parking Doesn't mention restaurants so wasn't able to cross reference to anything from the list on betterbidding. Price in USD is : $42.00 per room per night. States "Only 8 rooms left"
  5. Back again after a long break from vacationing! Used the links from this forum to get to HOTWIRE. Need help id'ing the hotel. Check in date: September 10th Check out date: September 13th Changed the price to USD and I get $47 per night and $171.34 with taxes for the 3 nights. Here's the list of amenities Smoke Free Rooms Restaurant(s) High-Speed Internet Access Children's Activity Program Free Internet I looked on the list posted and it kind of looks like the skyline inn, but would like to confirm. Thanks!
  6. I was charged $630 on my visa?? What gives? Exchange rate is at 1.035 and visa adds on 1.5% so its 1.05 586 * 1.05 is $615...did hotwire overcharge me?
  7. Yeah, it seems all hotels in the area do this. I'm going to be staying in the hyatt, they're charging $12 for internet and $28 for parking (still cheaper than the $48 that sheraton charges). Glad to hear you had a good stay though. Also, you mentioned you went with family. Anything special you would recommend?
  8. Amazing deal! I just got this property through hotwire for $98 per night....I thought I had a good deal but you are saving 20 + tax more Than me lol. I bid $90 right before going to HOTWIRE but thee guys rejected my bid so I just went with HOTWIRE. Enjoy your stay and let me know how it goes, I'm staying a week after you :)
  9. Hey I think you misunderstood, I know it doesn't increase the price, my question was whether it is supposed to decrease like it had for me
  10. Thank's and yes I'm pretty pleased I've received this property...especially since the parking is about $20 less if I end up renting a car... Also I'd like to point out....prior to making the purchase...I went straight to hotwire.com without using this site's link to confirm the price is still the same...the price was showing up as $99 when i clicked on it still $99. However, then I used this site's HOTWIRE link and did the same search, clicked on the same property...showed up as $99 in search results, but then price decreased to $98 after I clicked on it. Was that just a coincidence or does it have something to do with the link? (I was actually expecting the opposite to happen if any change was to occur at all lol as HOTWIRE would have to credit this site? lol)
  11. I believe the property is the Sheraton. If it is indeed the sheraton. Here's my experience back about 4 months ago when I stayed there for 2 nights. The room I got was in the Richmond Tower of the hotel (staying as a very large group for an event) and although the rooms weren't bad and the sight was of Nathan Phillips Square. The Elevator Service was extremely terrible. It refused to work sometimes and you'd actually have to take the stairs down. Also the bathrooms weren't that great, looked pretty old. I think this hotel needs sort of a renovation. Other than that, it is at the best location in Downtown Toronto. It is connected to the Eaton's Center so going for food or shopping is extremely EASY! I was told that it was only the Richmond Tower that was like this, the other tower of the hotel was excellent. So if you do end up going for this hotel, try to avoid the richmond tower.
  12. I just booked this for $99 on my dates and it was the Hyatt :)
  13. Finally pulled the trigger using the site's HOTWIRE link. Booked the 4* Hotel in Downtown Vancouver West. Turned out to be: Hyatt Regency Vancouver 655 Burrard Street, Vancouver, BC, V6C 2R7 (604) 683-1234 Amenities Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Hotel Hotel rate per night - Hotwire hot Rate: $98.00 Nights:5 Rooms:1 Subtotal:$490.00 Tax recovery charges and fees:$96.22 Total price:$586.22 Total charges to your credit card $586.22 Also the site's not letting me edit my main post, so please update accordingly. Thanks
  14. Hi looking at what's previously been reported here. This looks like the "Coast Plaza Hotel and Suites". It used to be 3.5* but the most recent win had it as a 3*. My guess is, it's back to it's 3.5* level. This is based on all the amenities. BTW the same property shows up for $1 less if you add 2 children.
  15. Ok now that the price for the 4* has fallen down to $99....is it a go or possibly wait it out and it may become cheaper? PRICELINE rejected a bid for $95 which gurantees a room for only 2 so this option is a lot safer for $5 more...the only thing bothering me is if I should stay a night in victoria :S
  16. Hey, I was told in my Priceline Vancouver thread that the property could also be the Sheraton Wall Center? BTW try to check the price again, it seems prices were just lowered. I did a search this morning and the price coming up was $105 for the dates I was looking for, now they're coming up as $99....I guess Hotwire loves the weaker Canadian Dollar :)....sitting at 93 cents for a dollar btw (was 97 cents last week :)) Edit: NVM just checked for you and your dates actually went up in price to $109
  17. Yeah wasn't too much of a difference, just thought I might've been able to save another $50 or so. THANKS :)....now just need to bid on that vancouver hotel haha but can't decide whether to stay in vancouver or seperate it into vancouver victoria and whistler like friends have suggested!
  18. Ok I blindly Bid $21 on PRICELINE using the sites link and now when I looked HOTWIRE. Hotwire had the full size car for $20. I feel like I overbid now. Yesterday HOTWIRE was showing $30 per day and PRICELINE refused my offer for $24. What's with the sudden drop in price? Anyways even though I regret bidding so high (I think they might've excepted $16 now like many others got it for :)) This is what I got.... Your Offer Price: $21.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 8 days(7 days and 20 hours) Subtotal: $168.00 Taxes and Fees: $67.81 Total Charges: $235.81 Lowest Published Price: $774.34 Total Savings:* $538.53 (You saved 70%) Full-Size Car (Unlimited Mileage) Pick-Up Location: Hertz Corporation Los Angeles International Airport 9000 Airport Blvd Los Angeles,CA 90045 1-800-654-3011 Drop-Off Location: Same as above
  19. Hey Reuare the sheraton wall center on the sheraton site is non refundable. It is some kind of early booking special. Also about the links in your signature....after clicking on the link I bookmarked it so I don't have to keep coming back to this site to click on it to help the site. Will this work or will I have to always click through here? I don't mind coming back here to click, but just thought I might get away with less work :) Tilepusher: I'll try to raise the bid by another $10 in increments of $2 this time (since I have 5 free rebids) and see how that goes. Also the $109 deal on HOTWIRE just went down to $106. As for the 3.5* I wasn't aware that there were none. I might have to go down to 3* but the hotels in the 3* category seem terrible. Also I'm just wondering, is Priceline's Granville are the same as HOTWIRE's Burnaby area? I saw the executive hotel that HOTWIRE has in burnaby as a 3.5* as one of the hotels in granville on the priceline list of hotels. Is this the same hotel? Because when I called up the hotel yesterday, the person at the reception was recommending me not to stay at their hotel! (Which I found kind of odd :S), he says its more of an industrial area and not good for families. Also the hotel reviews for it were pretty bad so I would like to avoid that area if possible. If it is indeed the granville area, I think I should stick to the downtown area.
  20. Hey tilepusher thanks for all the help, however yesterday after trying the bidding process again I pid up to $83 + $10 bonus cash for Granville and $90 + $10 bonus cash for the downtown area hotels and till its a no go :). Is this because I am bidding too early? No one else on this forum payed more than $90 for a hotel in downtown I believe! As for the Sheraton in Granville. It is charging $129 per night on its website and priceline claims to get you a 50% discount, so shouldn't they have accepted the offer at $65?!?!?! Also as for the car in downtown I think I'll pass on that as the hotels alone are charging up to $50 per night for car parking (self park) and if thats how much hotels are charging i'm worried what the places where i go will charge. Any advice on what to do with bidding? Or shall I just take the hotwire $109 deal? Also from all the hotels on the list on this site. I've called all on the 4* and 3.5* Category and the all say that when they say 2 people its for 2 adults, unless you have another adult coming it won't cost you anything. After 2 adults it is $30 extra per adult. Also out of all the ones on the list (i called all), only the OPUS Hotel in Vancouver will cause a problem if I do end up getting it. They said they're rooms only have 1 king or 2 twins, and are meant for 2 people. If I am coming with a family I should upgrade to a room with a sofa pull out and 2 twins which will cost me an additional $70. So I think I will try to avoid the granville area and focus more in Downtown if I go through priceline. Otherwise I might go to 3.5* if it ends up costing more than the $90 + $10 bonus cash. Also advice on how much to bid for a 3.5* will also be appreciated. Thanks a lot for your help so far guys!
  21. Sorry about that....I assumed since that was more priceline related I should create a thread in the priceline forum? The Reuare: I was thinking the same thing until when I called up all the hotels on the thread that lists which hotels are from priceline etc. and they told me their standard room is what is offered by priceline and the standard room allows me to choose between a king or 2 doubles. And they told me I can bring along 4 people even if my reservation says for 2 people which is why I went ahead with the bid. The ammenities are Fitness, pool, restaurant, business center, high speed internet and spa. The price for 5 nights ends up coming up to $650 USD which is around $690 after being converted The price I got for 8 nights in california for the same trip ended up costing me $404 on my visa after being converted to canadian currency So the max budget i had was $400 USD for the vancouver stay for the 5 nights and I ended up increasing that to $500 last night but still i got nothing from priceline! Is the granville entertainment district on priceline generally cheaper? I'm travelling with family and would like everything liek restaurants and stuff to be close by which is why I was going towards downtown but is granville pretty much the same experience? If so I can also try booking there? Let me know Thanks! Tilepusher: How much would you think I should bid for that hotel in granville on priceline? Thanks!
  22. Ok I just decided to follow "thereuare"'s suggestion of going with the Downtown Vancouver Hotel. I started by big from $65 + $10 bonus dollars and went all the way to $85 + $10 bonus dollars totalling $95. I've been rebidding using the "free bid" strategy. Any suggestions on what to do? There's a 4* hotel available from hotwire for $109 for 4 people...so is priceline really the better way to go since its only guranteeing the rate for 2 people? I called each of possible hotels listed on this site and all of them said all their rooms can occupy 4 people so that shouldn't be a problem. Advice will be appreciated. Thanks Edit** Just used up my last free bid for $86+$10 bonus...but its a no go :)
