Needed car for ten days, lowest rate I could get with a state govt discount (with tax) was 520 for mini-van or 480 for Full size. The rate was for unlimited miles in-state but if driven out of state once, then 150 miles only a day applied to the entire rental period. I was planning on diving to Texas. Booked premium with Hertz for $26 a day, $120.60 for taxes and fees for a total of $380.60.

Bid $72 3* first try and rejected. Had to rebid, added Newark (Elizabeth), kept 3* and bid $85 with offer being accepted at Doubletree Club Jersey City. Offered extra nights but I don't need them. Canceled my $269/nt reservation. To be fair this was for the largest room with king bed and city view. Lowest rate for std room was $229.
