  1. Officially the Peabody seems to be rated from a 4 to 5 star hotel, I definitely agree 4 or 4.5 star hotel NO DOUBT! I wouldn't say 5 star hotel, but one must remember this is only reserved for the finest hotels. DON'T GET ME WRONG, this hotel is incredible if your used to Days, Holiday Inn or even a Crowne Plaza or a Marriott this is a very big step up. 4 star restaurant, fine Italian Steakhouse, and a nice 50's style diner, all the amenities you'd expect of a 4 star hotel. Mini-bar which is my favorite, small color tv in the bathroom which is always cool, very comfortable bed, valet service, very fine decor and ambiance. Great for familes or the business traveler. Not cheap though, typically rates start in the $200's for the most basic room, I got an awesome deal at $144 from Travelocity. I usually like to stay at the nicest hotels and I'm definitely not one of these people who will give a hotel a bad rating just because the parking or traffic is crazy at Disney simply because it's Disney! Also, because it's quite expensive the rugrats aren't crawling everywhere. Also, they have ducks which they march from the fountain where they stay from 11AM to 5PM which they march from the fountain to the elevator twice a day. Very nice room service menu too. 4 or 4.5 Star hotel NO DOUBT!!!
  2. don't kid yourself this is a gambling facility, the main focus is gambling, yes they do have tons of amenities of the quality of any Hard Rock. But people who have never gambled before or don't believe in the concept are immediately turned off when they dont't instantly win tens of thousands of dollars on their first try. As for the casino being tight or unlucky, that very assertion is flawed. You can be in a little crappy casino in the backwoods of Kentucky, or in Caesars Palace in Vegas, or a river boat casino in Missippii it's all just luck, I from personal gambling experience and from friends who are gambler :) know this: we have hit for several thousand dollars in some of the crumiest, dirties casinos, have lost every penny in the swankiest casinos in vegas and jersey, and vice versa, there's no guarantee on gambling whatsoever. As for the smoke, anybody who's been in any casino anywhere in the world knows "gamblers" for the most part tend to smoke heavily to calms their nerves, so this is expedted wherever you go, personally I don't like smoke and second-hand smoke makes me sick and I hate when it gets in my clothes, but I have been able to stand it for several hours straight without "wimping out", maybe if you're on an oxygen tank and on death's door you should be afraid it's a 4 star hotel, no exceptions, not a 3 star hotel that's a step above a Holiday Inn, but then again it's not the Bellagio or the Venetian, for those of you who don't know 4 star service is excellent, it's a real taste of luxury, bars and restaurants in the hotel, turndown service, bigger rooms, bigger beds, better room service, comps, etc. oh minibar which is my favorite, yes this hotel tends to be noisy but it's all part of the gambling atmosphere, they have a great pool and grill poolside, and they turn the restaurant into a club at night, for all of these amenities remember above all you're here to gamble, if not you WILL have a miserable time, don't kid yourself, for regular gamblers it's great because it's a taste of class without going to Vegas, for first time gamblers its fun too for an eye-opening experience as for the payment system, like the one reviewer said, you get a ticket and cash out at the desk for from an attendant walking around, as for there not being enough.......I have been there when the casino is packed on a holiday weekend and there are several of them walking the floor every 20 ft. just waiting to cash your ticket, also to the reviewer who the said the machines are "different from Vegas machines" they must be people who don't understand technology :) it's easy, when you're ready to cash out you print out your "voucher" and hand it in and get your money, maybe they didn't understand because it's a video slot or the animations on the screen confused them becaus these are mostly new machines, don't worry if you've used a cellphone or PC or even voted on a touchscreen you can get by, there are 90 yr olds who don't know what a computer is but can play these machines for hours sorry to ramble on this review, but it really makes me mad when people give a bad rep. to a hotel when they don't really know what they're talking about, no I don't work for hotel, I'm a college student and an avid gambler, only thing I don't like about the Hard Rock is it's expensive to get a room, but at least you get what you're paying for (it varies from $90 at cheapest on a slow day to $139 on a normal day up to $300 when it's really busy for regular rooms, the suites of course are more), if you have the money and really want to gamble and stay at a real 4 star hotel, enjoy tell 'em Joe sent ya!
  3. 4 Star Hotel all the way, bar and lounge, fine 4 star Italian restaurant, my king size bed had 4 pillows, and 3 designer pillows, very comfortable, big mini bar in the room, big bathroom, very very nice, room service has a limited selection, if you check out all the ratings it's the best hotel in Tampa, believe it!
  4. ......maybe so, but you haven't explained why this ruined your travel plans yet.........obviously if it's a little longer than 72hrs it's not hurting your travel plans if priceline was locking out for way over 3 days then thousands would be complaining, I'm sure it's a rare fluke don't worry be happy mon!!!
  5. annie8485, it seems like the hotel screwed you over, not hotwire. If you feel like the hotel is doing a bad job of service that's the hotel's fault, it's not hotwire's, you could bookd the hotel directly and still be treated horribly, don't blame hotwire. But if you must blame hotwire, use priceline instead! :)
  6. Cool, make sure you report back how it goes, and write a review too, for some reason most of the reviews out there are a little old, I doubt the hotel is changed though. Always good when you can keep a Resort to under $100. :)
  7. Nice, report back if it's truly 3* after your stay. :)
  8. if you can get 2 beds then I guess the 2 adults sleep in one bed, and if the kids are young then the 3 of them sleep in the other bed, it's really a personal decision up to you are you targeting a suite because you want the extra room for 5 people but don't want to pay for 2 rooms or is it another reason?
  9. :) I'm terribly sorry, I thought you asked this question in the priceline forum, not hotwire........so what I said doesn't apply to you unless you decide to use priceline instead thereuare is right, on hotwire just look for the suite icon, are we talking 5 adults or less? if its less than 5 adults (say children) then 1 room might be workable depending on your budget sorry for the confusion
  10. Priceline won't let you directly target a suite, you almost always end up with the "regular room", but you can upgrade to a suite at check-in if it's available, or the hotel you end up getting my happen to be an all-suite hotel, or if the hotel is so booked up sometimes if priceline manages to get you a room it could be a suite, but 99% of the time you're not getting a suite DIRECTLY from priceline.
  11. I was banned earlier this year from TOBB and just yesterday I'm now able to view the site again, I used to have to go to a different PC to check the site. Don't get me wrong betterbidding is a much better web site, it's just nice to know what other people win on priceline as well, I'll be a mole for betterbidding :)
  12. If you decide to get something make sure to report what you got, because this re-zoning is so recent we have no idea what these hotels could be so it'd be nice to start buidling a database for all of our betterbidders :)
  13. Sorry thereuare all I meant was you have to be willing to accept a so-called "blind" booking of a hotel, if you're not comfortable with this concept then you should stick to other sites like hotwire, etc. Sorry didn't mean anything negative, I'll try to offer something positive..... -yes you can get 7 nights or more if you want on priceline, that's how you get a great deal by using the priceline savings for a long trip -their claim to a 4* is usually valid, hotwire tends to be a little lofty about their star ratings so buyer beware -mid-july you can start bidding right now, you can get a great deal now or you can wait a month or so and try to get a good deal, never hurts to try early -resort bids usually revolve around $100 +/-$50 for Orlando and tend to be more expensive than 4*
  14. post removed by thereuare: Please adhere to the forum rules, more specifically the part about: If your posts add little value to the thread or you can't think of nice ways to say some of the things you have posted (not just in this thread) i can suggest another site for you to post.
  15. no, priceline doesn't have access to much inventory there, that's why you can bid over the price of a usual 4* on priceline and not even come up with a 3* for Clearwater Beach people have only gotten this area over the summer and that was spotty at best sorry :)
  16. btw when I previously stayed there for over $100 it was when the hotel's own rate was very low over the summer anyways :)
  17. Yes it does, I stayed here twice before and paid well over $100 each night, I have a long distance relationship with a woman I want to marry someday, and we sometimes meet halfway in central FL, and it's nice to have money to spend on other money such as going to dinner or having fun I'm not so cheap that I'd never pay rack rate, but after using priceline, I never want to use anything else, not even hotwire Only reason I wanted to use easyclicktravel was priceline wasn't coming up with anything and it frustrated me, but as soon as I upped my bidding I knew I'd get something Well I think that easyclicktravel sucks anyways, they can kiss the fattest part of my reservation for the Grand Hyatt!
  18. If you saw my previous post, you'll know I almost got screwed my easyclicktravel......... I turned to priceline and bid on 4* starting at $65 and adding $5 for each rebid and succeeded at $85! 4/1/05---4/3/05 (check-in Friday, check out Sunday) Tampa Westshore Zone 4* Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay Total after tax is ~$200 I've stayed here twice before and it's the most luxurious hotel in Tampa. (nearly 1/2 of rate from hotel directly ~$400) (note subject title of post should be 4/1---4/3...........apoligies)
  19. I took your advice and decide to cancel, at no charge! I will momentarily post my alternative travel plans! :)
  20. I was trying to bid Orlando area on priceline to get 3* or 2.5* and had no luck so I decided to try easyclicktravel.com I did an "off the record" request thru EasyClickTravel travel for a 2* in Orlando, the Howard Johnsons Enchanted Land, this is my first time using EasyClickTravel travel, and I understand I'm supposed to wait for my email confirmation, I requested the hotel early this morning at like 2:30 AM But the check-in is Friday, so I'm starting to get worried........how long before they'll send me a confirmation or rejection........if I need to find another hotel I need to know really fast because I'm running out of time I need a back-up plan here! anybody who's dealt with them before and can give me advice would be appreciated thanks! :)
  21. depends on the hotel, but MOST hotels have 2 beds available (2 doubles or queens), no direct bedding option with Priceline.com you need to contact the hotel you end up getting after Destin isn't the most popular area to come up on priceline when it comes to traveling in Florida, so don't be shocked if you can't find anything thru priceline hope you do though, good luck!
