Bid 4 star $43 downtown, got a counter-offer of $53 which I declined thanks to information from BetterBidding, added zone #2 whatever it was, which contained no 4 star hotels, bid $48 and got the hotel.

After doing a bunch of research on the 17-plus Priceline hotel zones in San Diego, I decided to concentrate on Sorrento Mesa as having acceptable hotels in the 2.5 star and 3 star range, and Del Mar in the 3.5 star range. I decided to stay away from the 3 star range in Del Mar due to poor reviews of the Morgan Run Club and resort.
I was bidding for August 2nd week which has some very expensive rates. Like $208 for the Courtyard in Sorrento Mesa and $183 for the Hilton Del Mar.
So after bidding starting at $65 working up to $90 and failing in these 2 zones, I finally bid $95 for 2.5 star in Sorrento Mesa after waiting 24 hours and was successful.
So thank you again for saving me about 50% off the list price of this hotel!
