  1. Posted for a friend who is new to PRICELINE. Hyatt Place Columbus/Worthington 7490 Vantage Drive Columbus, Ohio 43235 $41 plus taxes, etc. Thank you again BetterBidding!
  2. Got the Asheville Renaissance for $75 for 5 nights. I started at $75 but I guess I could have started lower. What made me start at $75 was the fact that the Crowne Plaza was completely booked for that 5-night period, and the retail price of the Renaissance rooms was $179 for the first 3 nights and then rose to $199 for the last two. Your Offer Price: $75.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 5 Subtotal: $375.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $54.96 Total Charges*: $429.96 Naturally, I started by bidding using the PRICELINE links provided by betterbidding.com. Thank you again, BetterBidding and thereuare!
  3. I just returned from my stay. Overall a very nice place. We were a family on a weekend and this is a nice place to stay on the weekend as it is a business district with very light occupancy. The bed was a bit soft and I kept having to adjust to keep rolling off the side, causing mild back pain. Noise was very very minimal. Smells from smoke and air freshener were non-existent. The location is convenient to downtown Cleveland (12 minute drive) without the expensive parking and hotel prices. There was no free breakfast at the Courtyard, however. There was a nice pool (did not use for lack of time). The desk staff was VERY well trained and friendly. Rooms were spotless and relatively new. The HVAC was not perfect, because although it had no odor characteristic of many window-type units, it had the typical HI, Lo, and OFF positions, so it did not cycle on/off like more sophisticated systems, therefore it got quite hot and simply turned it off after heating up the room (this was winter). For the $45 I would rate it 5 of 5 stars. If I had to pay full price I would rate it 4 of 5 for lack of free breakfast and the soft poorly supporting bed.
  4. Courtyard By Marriott Cleveland Independence 5051 West Creek Road Independence, Ohio 44131 Your Offer Price: $45.00 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $90.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $21.94 Total Charges*: $111.94 I used savingsbarn.com as usual to help out BetterBidding!! This was my first bid for this date.
  5. The title of the forum is > Priceline and Hotwire Forum > Other Deals > Airfare so I think the original poster was WELL within the boundaries of this particular forum. You erred - and should apologize AGAIN.
  6. I used savingsbarn.com to initiate my bid. After studying betterbidding.com I decided to bid $68 for a 4* hotel in Cincinnati. There is a conference going on at the Westin which we are attending. I discovered that there are only 2 four star hotels in Cincy as far as Priceline is concerned, the Westin and the Hilton Netherland. Both are in the same Downtown zone, and they are literally next door to each other, so far as I can tell! This made bidding easy. However, I needed no rebids. I bid $68 and got the Westin on my first try! This is where the conference is held so I am quite pleased. Internet rate is $139 for the same room. Thank you BetterBidding! The Westin Cincinnati 5th And Vine Cincinnati, Ohio 45202 513-621-7700 Summary of Charges Your Offer Price: $68.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $136.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $30.28 Total Charges*: $166.28
  7. This was a tough bid. No free re-bid zones in Beloit or Rockford (see below), only "spousal" free re-bid (only works if they are traveling with you). I had first tried a lot of bids in the Rockford IL area which is around 20 miles to the south. 3* 50, added 2.5* $54, 2.5* 58, all rejected. I then tried Beloit WI at a 3* level at $54, no luck. Added 2* and upped to $68 and got the Holiday Inn Express. Check-In Date: Saturday, July 7, 2007 Check-Out Date: Sunday, July 8, 2007 Hotel Name: Holiday Inn Express Beloit 2790 Milwaukee Rd Beloit, Wisconsin 53511 608-365-6000 Your Offer Price: $68.00 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $136.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $27.56 Total Charges*: $163.56
  8. Bidding for 2.5* hotel in Bloomington IL. Bid $49, rejected. Used spousal free re-bid, $56, accepted. Nice deal as their rooms range from $93 to $119 on the web. Country Inn And Suites Bloomington Normal Airport 2403 East Empire Street Bloomington, Illinois 61704 309-662-3100 Your Offer Price: $56.00 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $112.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $22.36 Total Charges*: $134.36
  9. Scored this after 7 total bids. Lowest direct-book internet rate was $279. I used SAVINGSBARN.COM to help out BetterBidding.com. I wanted a 4* hotel in Copley. I used the special bidding strategy which gives you a total of 2^n bids where n is the number of rebid zones. Zones bid on: X = Copley (target zone, hotels with 4 stars and lower) A = Medford (free rebid zone, 2.5* and lower) B = South Boston (free rebid zone, 2.5* and lower) C = Brighton (free rebid zone, 2.5* and lower) Bid History (CBR = Close Browser and Restart) X $90 XA $100 -------- CBR XB $110 XBA $120 -------- CBR XC $130 XCA $140 -------- CBR XBC $150 WON XBCA bid not needed Hotel Name: Sheraton Boston Hotel 39 Dalton Street Boston, Massachusetts 02199 Summary of Charges Your Offer Price: $150.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Subtotal: $600.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $92.09 Total Charges*: $692.09
  10. Stayed here 3/30/07. Previous (nonwinning) bid was $67. I started at $35. The stay in the hotel was just as described in Tripadvisor.com reviews. Beds were very uncomfortable, the cheapest ones that you could feel every wire almost popping through. Fortunately when we were there, the American Emroidery Conference had booked most of the rooms, a lot of sweet, kind seamstresses, so late-night hall noise was completely absent, much to my delight. This is definitely not a 4-star hotel. Understaffed just as in the TA reviews. Arrived at 10:30 PM after being stuck in 1.5 hour Atlanta traffic jam and there was no bell staff to help with 5 sets of luggage (normally not a problem except two of our kids were asleep and needed to be carried, leaving few extra hands to carry luggage). I found out NCAA finals were in Atlanta that weekend, explaining the high prices and low availability.
  11. Beware 3* or 4* hotels in Marietta GA! I used SavingsBarn.com to bid on 3* hotels in Marietta GA. I started at $35 and used 7 free rebids before I got my price accepted at $75. (By the way, I used the "permutation" trick. I could have had about 7 more free rebids. "Free" is relative when you have to keep raising the price!) But it wasn't a 3* hotel, it was a 4* - I was upgraded! What a treat, I thought. I also saw they were willing to extend my stay at this hotel for the same price which I haven't seen before. I knew something was fishy so I checked Tripadvisor and found some really negative reviews of this place, one of which warned Priceline users to "beware bidding on 4* hotels" in this zone. Hope this place turns out OK as I will be driving 10 hours straight the next day and really need a good night's sleep at this hotel. Marietta Conference Center And Resort 500 Powder Springs Street Marietta,
  12. Nice deal. Using Hotwire I found a 3.5 star hotel for $86 which appeared to be the Sheraton Suites Lexington and sure enough it was! List price thru all the resellers (Expedia, etc.) is $175 for that night. Happy am I! 13. Hilton Indianapolis North 8181 North Shadeland Avenue Indianapolis, Indiana 46250 Your Offer Price: $50.00 Subtotal: $50.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $14.92 Total Charges: $64.92 $40 3* North-Fishers - rejected $50 added Northwest - accepted Went thru Savingsbarn.com Thank you.
  14. I would like to recommend a 'marketing' change to help promote your 'support' page. Your link reads 'Travel Links to Help Support BetterBidding' -- this does not catch my eye as well as a link would with the wording "Use These Travel Links to Help Support BetterBidding". The call to action is important - show us what to do, rather than just tell us that Travel Links are 'here'. Or, "Click Here to See A List of Links You can use to support this website". I am going to give you a Paypal contribution and try to use your links from now on. Thank you for all the hard work!
  15. I see this hotel variously listed as 3*, 2.5*, or 4*. Lately it seems to be 3*.
  16. $54 plus tax and fees. Restaurant(s) Complimentary Breakfast Pool(s) Fitness Center Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) Priceline considers this a 1* hotel! Oh no, I can't wait... And, to make things worse, on the website I could get the room for $53.50 "Special offer"!
  17. $65 was my 4th bid. Cincinnati has 8 zones but only one with a 4*. As I recall I started at $43, then $46, then $56, adding free zones as I went. Just stayed there last night - the place was very clean, recently remodeled, marble in the bathrooms, nice view of the riverfront. Only downside was neighbor partying til after midnight and the walls were somewhat thin, could hear parts of conversations, could hear the hair dryer in their bathroom, doors slamming closed about every 10 minutes. Parking was $24 for valet.
  18. 4* Cincinnati (Downtown - Riverfront) Westin $65.00 $17.99 tax and fee --------- $82.99 Best web rate was $119 for that same night! And I went thru savingsbarn.com to contribute to the support of this board!
  19. Bid $40 for a 3* in Indianapolis North Fishers, rejected. Then did a free re-bid for $45 adding the Northwest zone, containing onlt 2.5* or less hotels, accepted. This hotel is undergoing a management change. They were previously an Omni, listed as "3* Indianapolis (North - Fishers) Omni North" But now they are owned by Hilton, and you cannot yet make reservations yet thru the Hilton website, only over the Hilton 800 number, and of course Priceline. Hilton told me they will be converted to a Hilton "next month" (it is March 2005 as of this writing). Indianapolis North Hotel 8181 North Shadeland Ave. Indianapolis, IN
  20. Bidding history: $38 for 3 star Indy North Fishers, rejected Then added 3 more zones which contain 2.5 star hotels or less for 3 free rebids: added Northwest, $42 rejected added South, $44 rejected added Speedway, $49 accepted Doubletree Guest Suites Indianapolis/Carmel
  21. Wanted a 3 star for a Saturday night in Cleveland Independence-Beachwood. Started at $30, bid 33, 38, and 45 with free-re-bids, no luck. Had my spouse bid $48, 53, 57, and finally $65 got me the room! Hilton Cleveland East/Beachwood $65 plus $17.81 tax/fees = $82.81 total. Lowest web rate non-refundable was $95. Also I see from the Hilton website that the Hilton Cleveland South (Quarry Lane, in Independence) was completely booked.
  22. No, I made a mistake entering the description. My first bid was $45. Please update the description in the original post because someone might be misled into thinking I got rooms for $40.
