  1. I checked my folio and 51$ was the room rate that was charged to priceline. I guess I overbid by 4$; I'll know for next time.
  2. Check-In Date: Friday, April 22, 2005 Check-Out Date: Saturday, April 23, 2005 Hotel Name: Hilton Minneapolis 1001 Marquette Avenue South Minneapolis, Minnesota 55403-2440 612-376-1000 Summary of Charges Your Offer Price: $50.00 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $100.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $22.30 Total Charges: $122.30 Another one of my friend's bids. sorry, I don't have the bidding history, and I'm sure that my bid for the room was later than his.
  3. check in: Friday, April 22, 2005 check out: Sunday, April 24, 2005 The Marquette 710 Marquette Avenue Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States, 55402-2368 1-612-333-4545 Offer price: 64,00 $ rooms: 2 nights: 2 subtotal: 256,00 $ Taxes and fees: 41,26 $ Total: 297,26 $ hehe... another confirmed 3* hotel in the downtown area to add to the list. This is a very nice hotel which I stayed at (my friend paid 109$ + taxes and reserved through the hotel) about 2 years ago. The hotel is a part of the Hilton family and is convienently located in/near the IDS center. We were upgraded to a deluxe corner room and the parking was free with the price (but we didn't go through priceline for that reservation). My friend (european, which explains the commas instead of periods) emailed this priceline info to me. She may (probably) have overbid. I don't know her bidding history.
  4. Check-In Date: Friday, April 22, 2005 Check-Out Date: Saturday, April 23, 2005 Hotel Name: Hilton Minneapolis 1001 Marquette Avenue South Minneapolis, Minnesota 55403-2440 612-376-1000 Summary of Charges Billing Date: April 19, 2005 Your Offer Price: $55.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $55.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $14.12 Total Charges: $69.12 First bid $40, then 45, 50 and finally won with 55$ (using the three free-rebids). PS The moderator may edit the hotel list that this is now a confirmed 3* hotel in downtown area.
  5. During checkin, I noticed on the piece of paper that I signed that 24.64 was going to be charged to the priceline credit card. (Hmmm... with a tax of 9.5%, the room rate was 22.50? Oh well, i overbid. In the future I suggest starting at 23$/night.
  6. This place is very convienently located off of Route 35W, about a 17 minute drive from downtown Minneapolis. The parking was plentiful and the area is well lit. Nearby "walkable" restaurants include Timberlodge steakhouse, Hooters, Perkins, etc. The lobby is very modern looking with high ceilings. The checkin process was efficient. No mention of priceline. I noticed on the piece of paper that I signed that 24.64 was going to be charged to the priceline credit card. (Hmmm... with a tax of 9.5%, the room rate was 22.50? oh well I overbid). I got a room on the top floor (4th). The clerk mentioned that they have breakfast for us in the morning. This place does have a limited amount of double beds and rollaway cots available, but they were all taken when I called to give my preferences. The room is rather small, and the first thing I notice was that the TV cabinet/closet is huge, compared to the size of the room. The room had a king sized bed, two night stands, a small circular table with two chairs, a refrigerator and a microwave. The TV is approximately a 24". The bathroom was indeed one of the smaller ones that I've experienced, but everything in the room was clean. A big perk of this place was that it had COMPLIMENTARY wireless internet access. The breakfast in the morning consisted of a basket of packaged snacks (doughnuts, muffins) that is located behind the lobby, and if you wanted coffee, the clerk gives you 4 quarters and you head to the vending machines to get your coffee. Complimentary Sunday's Edition of Pioneer Press was available. The breakfast was definately the strangest that I've ever experienced, but it is better than NOTHING. This place is priced at 49.99/night or 179.99 weekly. Comparatively, this place is very similar to the Extended Stay Americas. The room is smaller and it doesn't have a kitchen. It also doesn't have a desk where you can do your work, but it does offer free internet. It is very fitting for a 2* hotel, and considering the cheap price I would stay here again. Check-In Date: Saturday, April 16, 2005 Check-Out Date: Sunday, April 17, 2005 Hotel Name: Livinn Suites Burnsville 13090 Aldrich Ave S Burnsville, Minnesota 55124 952-890-7999 Summary of Charges Your Offer Price: $27.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $27.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $10.29 Total Charges: $37.29 First tried 2* at 25$, and rejected, then added Burnsville and increased to 27$ and was accepted.
  7. Sigh... I'm really pissed about the lack of internet access... The complimentary internet access commerical that you are referring to is certainly on the holiday-inn.com site. of course in small print it says that it is available at MOST (all except the one that I going to stay in) locations. http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/c...ommercials.html I called them and found out that: they have surcharges for phone calls $.75 for the 1st 30minutes $.25 for each additional 10 minutes They also have wireless internet in the lobby. The lady I spoke to said that the charges vary because she believes that it is ~$5 for around 100 minutes? and those minutes can't be carried over to the next logon. So it'll be like $5 per use? I guess I have a couple of options: 1. Heading over to the Woodfield Mall (www.gowoodfieldmall.com) to use the internet access at the Apple Store. 2. Heading over to nearby Hyatt or the nearby Borders to use the Tmobile HotSpot (10$ for a daypass) 3. Heading to Panera Bread at Schaumburg, IL
  8. I needed to stay near the airport as I had a flight arriving into JFK at 1115pm. I bid for the JFK area on a weekday Wed Dec 22 2004 and received this property for 60$ + PL/tax = 72$ for the one night stay. This place is another example of NYC hotel/motels as they are outrageously expensive for the level of service/quality of the room you are getting. I called the hotel as I stepped off the plane (as I had no checkin luggage) and they said to call back once you are at Federal Circle (the hotel shuttle pickup area of the free AirTrain system). i called when I got to federal circle and waited 23 minutes before they picked me up. I was fairly disappointed as the Holiday Inn Express (which is located literally down the street from the BestWestern) made two pickups in the same period that I was waiting. So I suggest that you hop on to the the Holiday Inn express shuttle if the BW one is taking too long. I gave my credit card and my license when I reached the counter and the man didn't even look at it and just asked me for my name, birthdate and zip code. Strange (Birthdate?) No mention of PL. I requested a room with two double beds at the counter and the man said, "you weren't listed for that." After some fumbling with the computer, he gave me a room on the fourth floor (of four). The room had fairly thin walls (since I remember sleeping poorly) and was the room adjacent to the corner room (thus my room is one of the smaller rooms). However, the room was clean, and the bathroom was stocked well with towels. I was disappointed that the amenities did not include conditioner, but I should have brought some with me. The TV was in poor condition, but it included HBO as a premium channel. I received my morning wake up call at 7am as promised and I attended the free "deluxe" continental breakfast (milk/coffee/juice/bagels/doughnuts) on the second floor. Overall it was a reasonable experience, but I tolerated it because I knew that I was staying for such a short stay.... midnight until 8am. If there is a next time where I would have a longer stay, I would strongly look into the 3* category hotels.
  9. I stayed there two nights... Fri and Sat for the weekend before Christmas 2004. (75$/night) I was able to find parking on the streets both days, yes it was a pain, but I didn't want to spend 34 or 35 for valet parking, or use the lot (no-in/out) nearby for 29$/day. There surrounding areas are residential and need a residential permit only from 6pm-6am everyday. And there are main streets nearby that are metered that are from either 9a-6pm M-Sat or 9/10a-8pm M-Sat. So you could in theory move your car to one of the meters at 4pm Saturday, and put in 1$ for 2 hours and leave it there overnight and Sunday. To find parking starting on Friday, I would suggest looking in areas near "schools," as I discovered those areas have restriction until Friday afternoon (as opposed to Saturday). I was optimistic about this hotel, despite its mixed reviews (particularly at tripadvisor). It is located in the Gold Coast and a reasonable (~1 mile walk) to the Mag Mile. The Gold Coast is a very very nice area with the Chicago City proper. It is well within walking distance to some very nice restaurants. I was given a room on the 6th floor (out of 17), and it was certainly a "priceline" room. The hotel is organized as an "L" and I got the room that is abutting the suite that is located at the corner of the "L". Therefore it is the the smallest room on each floor. I requested a 2 double bed room, but they said it would be a 20$/night upgrade charge, so I just stuck with the non-smoking king. The amenities, which included a robe, were nice. The room was clean, but like I said previously, I received the smallest room, and I believe the bathroom isn't as spacious as what I imagined. There were other posts saying that the bathroom was spacious, and I think that is what was cut out in the room due the constraints of the location. Other aspects that were good: Free local and 800 calls, FREE WIRELESS internet. Bad: no central ac/heat. The temp was controlled digitally in a window heater/ac in the corner of the room. It was difficult to set to the right temp as the bed was in the other side of the room. Plus it was noisy. I felt the WORST part about my stay was the sheets. I read about problems with the sheets on prior reviews on competitor sites about (e.g. bedbugs). I don't believe it had bedbugs, but the quality of the sheets were deplorable. I couldn't sleep the first night. I didn't understand why, then I looked about the label of the pillow case and it said that is was 50/50 and 180thread count. I was astounded; the sheets/pillow case were scratching on my face. I called the front desk at 230am (that is when I finially noticed), and asked if there were other sheets available. They said that we only have one type of sheet, but they could bring another possibly "softer" set. I just said that I'll tough it out. (in retrospect, many hotels have 50/50 sheets that are either 180 or 200tc, but this was first time that I have ever been bothered enought/cared to look). Needless to say, I didn't sleep well, but I quickly adapted. the second night was similar, but I think I tolerated it much better. Next time, I would not want to stay here, because of location/sheets. Location is not horrible, but it is certainly a good walk to the mag mile/center of the action. P.S. The Pump Room was closed off to a private party on the Saturday night I stayed, so I didn't intrude.
  10. I stayed at this hotel in November 2004. This hotel is convienently located RIGHT OFF 880.....if you were coming from the southern direction, the off-ramp barely ends before you can make a right into the "back-side" entrance to the hotel. Don't worry, if you miss that entrance, you can still make the next right onto Barber La, and make enter through the Main entrance to the hotel... anyways.... I needed a cheaper place to stay during the weekday (would have liked to stay in the Cypress for all four nights). Ended up paying 47/night via PL. Parking was plentyiful, and checkin was efficient. no mention of PL. I requested a 3rd floor room as I heard that the walls are thin and people heard people running around upstair... so I thought a 3rd floor room would avoid that. and it did.. The room itself was fairly disappointing... for a 3*, I've stayed in better..... it was definately like a 2*. My biggest problem was that the temperature control was horrible. I guess I was pampered by the digital thermotstat that I have at home or the one I had at the Cypress hotel (in Cupertino, CA), but this room didn't even have a themostate, it just had a lever that said on one end warm and the other end cool.. You had to guess what temperature it will end up. It was a real problem becuase I was playing with the thermostat all night. I think a major contribution to this problem was the fact the weather outside was really cool for NoCal weather (50s... and frost warning in the early AM.... coming from MN, I was thinking, what is a frost warning?). I think there was an open communication between exhaust fan in the bathroom and the outside (I know there always is, but there was a cold breeze coming out from the bathroom. So half of the room would be cold/cool and the other side would be okay... I think that is the reason why I was playing around with the thermostat... Bed was comfortable and It took care of what I needed. For Asian eats, one can check out Milpitas Village (kinda like Cupertino Village, but not as nice since many of the shops seem to be opening/closing)
  11. I just got back from a 3 night (weekend) stay at the Cypress Hotel. I have to say that I loved it. It was very comfortable and it was indeed a 4*. I got it for 65$/night via priceline. Checkin was very smooth and they just mentioned that the hotel has been prepaid. Everyone was indeed very courteous. Free covered parking is available. A useful business center (Mac and PC with printer available) is located on the main floor. The rooms had a very contemporary look with a leopard print theme decor. The room was certainly very clean. The rooms all had complimentary Wireless internet access. I was very impressed with the Sony CD/Radio, the cordless phone, DIGITAL thermostat, complementary wine reception every night from 5-6pm, complementary local weekend/Sunday newspapers. What else... the aveda amenities were very nice. The fitness room was small but sufficient. It was very cool to have these individual LCD-like TV screen in front of certain exercise machine. If anyone is looking for cheap, varied Asian (mostly Chinese) eats close to this hotel, they can check out Cupertino Village (5 minutes away). Also, if one wants to be able to walk to a Chinese supermarket for Chinese breakfast/fast food), there is Marina foods on Stevens Creak Road (as opposed to Ranch 99 in Cupertino Village).. They allowed for a late check out of 1pm. They only weird thing was that upon checking my credit card statement online, there was a charge of 3.79. When I checked out, they said that I had no additional charges. I called up the accounting dept and they stated that an orange juice was missing from the honor bar. I disputed the charge saying that I specifically turned down the key to the honor bar upon check in so there is no way that I could have drank that OJ. They stated that they will remove the charge on my next statement. Overall, I found my stay very pleasant and I would definately stay here again.
  12. Stayed here over a saturday night in March 2005. The front desk is open only from 7am-11pm, therefore you arrive later than 11pm, you are out of luck. I checked in a 930pm and check in was very simple and smooth. The room was indeed no frills, which was fine considering that I was only there for about 7 hours. A refrigerator, small microwave, a 2-grill electrice stove was in the kitchen. A minimal amount of utensils, glasses, and plates were available. Bathroom was clean and ample towels were provided. No shampoo, but two bars of soap were provided. There were two small working desks available. Apparently wired internet access is available for 3.99/day. A small 19" television was available as well. Since I check out at 6am, I just slipped the key card underneath the grill that secures the front desk during afterhours. Overall this was a very basic hotel that suited its purpose. I'm sure it is very similar to the other Extended Stays. This place certainly isn't as nice as Townplace Suites by Marriott, but it is indeed much cheaper. Tip: Start the bids at 25$ for this property, as the lady in the front told me that $27.38 (25$ + 9.5% tax) will be charged to the (priceline) credit card. I won it on a 28$ bid.
  13. Check-In Date: Friday, May 6, 2005 Check-Out Date: Monday, May 9, 2005 Hotel Name: Holiday Inn Rolling Meadows 3405 Algonquin Road Rolling Meadows, Illinois 60008 847-259-5000 Summary of Charges Your Offer Price: $29.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $87.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $18.19 Total Charges: $105.19 Oh well.. Looks like I'm getting screwed :) I'm stuck at an HI without in-room internet access. That is why I get for being such a cheap bastard. I first tried for the Hyatt Regency at McCormick place. Tried 41, 43, 45, and 47 with no avail. Then I tried for the Hyatt at Schaumburg at 25, 27, 29, 31 to no avail. Then I was hoping to get one of the various 2.5* Courtyards in the various free rebid areas I checked off when I tried for Schaumburg. I lowered my bid to 29$, and got the HI and Rolling Meadows instead... oh well. BTW, the moderator can add this hotel to its IL priceline list.
  14. Another hotel that this board can add to its list as it is previously unreported here, nor at a competitor site.
  15. Okay... I returned from my stay at the stay at Extended Stay. Make sure you arrive before 11pm, or else you won't get checked it. The desk attendant said that 27.38 will be charged to the credit card, which means 25$ + 9.5% tax = 27.38$ Tip to all: Start bidding at 25$ for a 2* in Eagan.
  16. Yes this was my first bid at the 2* level in Eagan, so I don't know if I could have gotten it lower. I was shooting for either the Homestead Studio Suites or the Hampton Inn. People have reported getting the Homestead Studio Suites for $28. I needed to be in either Eagan or Burnsville, and at worst, I'll select Bloomington. I started with Eagan 3* at 35$, I figured I wouldn't get anything, but I just tried anyways. Then I tried Eagan 2.5* at 35$ and was denied also. Then I tried Eagan 2* at 28$, figuring that if I were rejected I would add Burnsville and go to 30$ on the bid. I'll be bidding on the Eagan/Burnsville region every Saturday for the 2 months, so I'll start with a lower bid. Thanks for hosting a great/friendly site that is a refreshing alternative to your competitiors.

  18. First tried 35$ for 2.5* in Eagan and Burnsville, then dropped to 2* and 30$ expecting to get this hotel. 19. I reread my post and I forgot to include my review of their Free "deluxe continental breakfast." It was again one of the best "free" hotel breakfasts that I've ever eaten. It helps to get there early... Since I flew in from MN on Friday night, My body though it was 9am when the breakfast starts at 7am on Saturday. I had a great selection to choose from. Starbucks decaf and regular coffee, tea bags, cartons of skim and low-fat milk, various bottles of juices (I think apple and orange were the choices), yoplait yogurt, apples/orange basket, cold hard-boiled egges, various slices of breads, basket of muffins, and bottles of spring water! The most imperssive things that they had approximately 7 bags of the Harmony brand trail mix. Needlesstosay, I stuffed my face and took a bag of the trail mix to go. Luckily, I'm sure I burned off all the calories that morning/afternoon when I rented a bike from Fisherman's Wharf and rode it to sausalito and back. Trail mix was so good when you are starving! On Sunday morning, I woke up much later... and got to "breakfast around 9:30, and everything except the trail mix was there." Breakfast was certainly very enjoyable on both days. Early bird gets the trail mix bags. Anyways... I highly recommend this place to anyone.
  20. I just returned from this trip and I have posted a review in the hotel review section appropriately. Here is a cc. ---------------------- This is the best hotel that I have ever stayed in through priceline. This beats many of the 3 and 4 star hotels that I have stayed in the past. At check-in, the clerk was professional and stated that I had the room prepaid with Priceline. I arrived at 5pm so there were complimentary freshly baked oatmeal/raisin cookies at the counter... (YUMMY!). There are also apples at the counter there at all times. I received room 332 which was a "regular" suite with a single queen sized bed. The room was an end room which happily surprised me, as I didn't even request it. The room is well sound-proofed as I didn't notice the takeoffs of the planes. I was never awakened by any significant noise. There is a welcome basket that greets you in the kitchen. Starbucks coffee filters, 2 oat/granola bars, 1 16oz bottle of spring water, 1 packe of ACTII microwavable popcorn. The kitchen is very complete with dishes, glasses, strainers, colander, utensils, scissors, microwave, 2 electric burners, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, coffee maker. The room also had a Zenith DVD player, which I didn't expect. It also had a CD/Alarm Radio. It had two phones with one of them being a 900mhz cordless. The working table is big with two soft leather chairs (one of them has rolling wheels). There is also another chair with an ottoman. The closet was a little smaller than I expected, but in it had the standard iron and table. The 4 feather pillows, the quilted down comforters, the 310 thread 60cotton/40poly sheets, the mattress pad was the most comfortable hotel bed that I have ever slept in. I slept very soundly and comfortably for both nights that I was there. The bathroom was standard sized with matching tiles on the floor that matched the tiles in the kitchen. The walls of the showers were tiles, too! The bathroom was very clean and the amenities were from Bath and Bodyworks. The place had a complimentary business center (with a color laser printer) as well as complimentary in-room wired internet access. I did use the fitness room one day which was okay... nothing spectacular. It had 2 threadmills, 2 stairmasters and 1 exercise bike I think. Overall, this is the best hotel that I have ever stayed in (in terms of comforts for the price). Mostly because of the bed (simply incredible)! I called and I asked about the charge. The lady apologized and said that it was a mistake. They should have charged that amount to the priceline credit card as I had already prepaid through priceline. hehe i guess 7.64$ is how much priceline is profiting from my stay (which includes the Priceline service fee. I would DEFINATELY STAY here again... even if I had to book through the hotel directly!
