  1. Decided to book directly with hotel since there were so many 2* possibilities.
  2. Amenities listed Boutique, Breakfast, Pool, Business Center, Internet, Golf, Tennis, Spa. Thanks in advance, cbl
  3. Is it possible that the same hotels have different prices, depending on the search you employ? I tried to search for Wytheville (june 25-26) and got two possible hotels, a 2* for $54 and a 2.5* for $99. Both are listed as "Wytheville area" Then, I searched for Max Meadows, VA, and it returned hotels for the "Wytheville area" (Max Meadows, apparently isn't covered by Hotwire). There were two hotels, same exact amenities as the hotels above, but prices were $53 and $102. Thoughts? cbl
  4. checking in June 25, checking out June 26 Amenities Complimentary Breakfast High-speed Internet Access I know there are a ton of 2* places in this town (intersection of two interstates), but some of the 2* places are only $59 to begin with, so this would seem like a very bad deal if I got the Red Roof Inn. Any thoughts? cbl
  5. I want to further comment on my dissatisfaction. I was NOT booked into a "run of the house" room and just had the bad luck that they were sold out. Instead, I was explicitly booked into a smoking room. The outcome might have been the same, ending up with a smoking room on a night they were fully booked, bout I feel priceline was disingenuous as they knew they were selling a specific (unappealung) room type. At least this is what CP said... "priceline booked you into a smoking room"
  6. Bought today for $94/night. Hilton Head Marriott Resort and Spa. Dates: 6/26-7/3. $658 for room, 83.57 in taxes
  7. Thanks for this tip! The additional amenities are near golf, near tennis and spa... Would you guess Hilton?
  8. 4* Hilton head hotel 6/26-7/4 $95 Stated amenities: beachfront, non-smoking, fitness, pool, restaurant, business, laundry, wifi. Customer satisfaction rating 4.5
  9. Actually, I had reserved both this week AND next week. I am dreading going back there. I think Priceline should have offered to cancel the second day of the reservation or at least should have worked with me and find me a great rate on another local hotel since I would essentially be paying twice. If I had bid (and not won), there wasn't any time for rebidding since it was 8:30 PM the night of my stay.
  10. In this day and age, I didn't realize there were still smoking rooms. When I arrived, the hotel claimed they were completely sold out, and that Priceline (not they) had booked me into a smoking room. I understand that hotels are sometimes unable to fulfill room requests like "type of view" or "type of bed" and that Priceline cannot offer those choices either, but smoking vs. non-smoking seems like a different matter altogether, particularly if Priceline knows it is deliberately booking you into a smoking room and does not explicitly alert the customer to this fact. It was clear that the hotel treated Priceline customers significantly worse than other customers, based on the comments of the front desk staff. When I called Priceline customer service, I got passed around among people who couldn't do anything, and finally, at the top, I got no help at all, just a scripted apology over and over and "we can't do anything, this is non-cancellable." The inventory that Priceline has is clearly inferior, but in this case, inferior to the point of unbearable. I ended up leaving and booking a room through Hotwire (since I'm done with Priceline) and paying twice for the stay. Hotel: Crowne Plaza Silver Spring. Dates 4/27-4/29.
  11. OOPS... I meant 5/4-5/6. And I used the links here!
  12. Decent hotel, affiliated with LA Fitness (1/2 block away) to compensate for their subpar fitness center. Seems pricey for a 3.5*, but I tried using free rebids (DC east, mt vernon) over several days and this is the best I could get.
  13. Started bidding at $66, added free rebids of Sterling only ($67), Manassas only ($68) and Springfield only ($69). At $67, offer to immediately rebid an extra $17 offered. Your Offer Price: $69.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $138.00 Taxes and Fees: $24.06 Total Charges*: $162.06 Used PRICELINE links on this site, closing out browser each time to maximize rebid options.
  14. Sorry, still getting the hang of the format It's the Marriott Inn & Conference Center Rooms are fairly small, fitness center is somewhat outdated, but can't beat the convenience to UMD
  15. Your Offer Price: $69.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $69.00 Taxes and Fees: $17.17 Total Charges*: $86.17 Probably overpaid since $69 was my first bid, but best published price on their site is $189.
  16. Adding to the list of PA hotels. At the intersection of Interstates 76 and 70, there is a town comprised entirely of fast food places and inexpensive hotels -- not charming but conveniently located in between Pittsburgh and DC. I have bid several times and won the 2* Holiday Inn Express. March 8, 2010: $58 March 29, 2010: $52 April 5, 2010: $58
