  1. We booked the Millennium on Priceline in January 04 for $130 per night (October 14-16 stay) - it was the subject of mixed reviews but for the price, we weren't too pushed. It turned out to be far far better than we had expected. The hotel is small enough & instead of a standard check-in desk, there are two small desks where staff sit & check you in/out. I had rung the hotel before to mention that we were honeymooners & was delighted to be told that our room was a queen suite overlooking Quincy Market. We were on the 5th floor (Room 524) & had a tiny french balcony. The room was spotless & there was a bottle of champagne waiting for us with the compliments of the Hotel Manager... cheers! The bathroom was spotless and had a huge oval bath, as well as both a fixed & movable shower hose. Carpeting could benefit from replacement because it was lovely around the lift area, but was shabbier in the corridors... but it's not a major gripe. We ate out all the time - with Faneuil Hall & Quincy Market directly opposite, you'd be mad not to! We had a drink in the hotel's Atrium Bar on our last night & the bartender Rick was a pleasure. There's a T station just across the street in Government Centre & taxis outside the hotel are plentiful... a great location
  2. We booked the Marriott Marquis on Priceline last January at a bargain $115 per night. Certain reviews of this hotel have been less than complimentary but we had a fabulous stay. I am aware that some hotels treat discounted stays with less than courteous respect, but this was definitely not the case here. I rang the hotel about a month before & asked that they note that we were a honeymoon couple (just in case - I am also a Marriott club member). Well, it paid off. The check-in supervisor upgraded us to a Junior Suite on the 12th floor (Room 1204) & the room was at least double the size of a standard hotel room. We had a view down 46th St all the way to the Hudson River & over to NJ. The location of the hotel cannot be faulted - right in the middle of Times Square, which seems to never shut down. We ate breakfast from Starbucks on the 8th floor most mornings & it was excellent. We didn't eat lunch or dinner in the hotel because there are so many other excellent places around (Les Halles, Sequoia & The Heartland Brewery come to mind). We did have a drink in the newly opened The View revolving restaurant & bar - prices would make you wince but the view is spectacular! Checkout was very smooth - a final account was left under our door at 8am & when we went to check out, there was a staff member at the express checkout counter who did the job in 10 seconds! Lifts... the longest we had to wait was 6 minutes & that was because there was a convention on & the delegates refused to use the escalators to get from the 6th to the 8th floor! Fab experience & I would be delighted to stay here again
  3. We got the Renaissance via Priceline for the bargain rate of $65 per night 4th - 7th February 2005. While not in the centre of the tourist zone, it's a lovely comfortable hotel owned by the Marriott hotel group. It's 10 minues from Bourse/Grand Place either by Metro (Trone) or by a number of buses leaving from the adjacent Place Luxembourg. If you're travelling from Brussels Airport, the aircoach also stops in Place Luxembourg. The hotel is very well equipped - rooms are a good size, and mainly queen beds. We asked for a king & were given room 530 (smoking) which was nice & spacious. Minibar wasn't as exorbitant as one would expect, but beware the bottle of Evian sitting out on the table... it's
