  1. Hi all, I need some advice here. Iam bidding Vegas hotel for my brother during 12/25 - 12/29 total 4 nights. He wants only 4* or above only in the strip area. I have searched most 4* hotel that may come up in PL. 12/25 - 12/28 rates are as follow: Flamingo $75 95 95 90 Ballys $89 129 129 99 Treasure Island $99 129 129 89 MGM Grand $139.95 for all 4 nights Mirage $129 for all 4 nights I think of spliting into 2 or even 3 bids to avoid the peak rate for 12/26 & 12/27, I understand the that changing hotel is possible (I read the other thread about similar situation for thanksgiving) I have bidded up to $80 for 5* and $60 for 4* with no luck. I want to know that is there a chance that I will get the hotel for my bidding price? If anyone knows, please reply and I greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance. dada
  2. Yea, I believe everyone can use this code. I tried to apply the code on "ISP to MDW" itinery and it shows a 15% discount on FUN FARES (the lowest fare of that itinery) as well.
  3. I have been to Key west once and I love it. :) Iam also looking at the hotwire page (I hope so), as thereuare said, that should be Wyndham Resort. I saw that theres a 2 1/2* hotel listed at $78, I think it should be Radisson hotel. Are you planning to stay in the New Town area? I personally recommend the old town, more things to do and see.
  4. Got this coupon code from a forwarding email, Southwest airline has new 15% off savings code again!! code: RR8HMX4R8H Purchase fr 9/9/03 to 9/25/03 and must be at least 3 days in advance Its good for flights fr 9/12/03 thru 1/16/04. Hope it helps someone.
  5. I stayed there four nights from 8/10 - 8/13 and bidded $55 (with $10 coupon). The grand lobby is nicely decorated with plush furniture. There's a piano placed in btw the lobby and the bar area. I arrived there early at around 11:30am and was not able to check in but stored luggages. Went back there at 4pm and got a room #401 with 2 double beds as requested. The check in staff is nice and helpful with no mention of priceline. The room is very small but again, nicely decorated. Beds are comfy with high quality linens. Standard room amenities: in-room coffee maker, small fridge with soda and liquors filled up (actually its really like a vending machine, you are not able to fill up your own. You have to make selections by pressing buttons which will automatically charge to your room.), daily newspaper deliver to your room, 27 inch TV, portable CD player with alarm clock, extra pillow and blanket, iron and iron board. Standard bathroom supplies: shower cap, face and body soaps, shampoo, conditioner (which I don't think it conditions my hair good enough), and body lotion. Its a stand up shower. No bath tubs. Room service price is reasonable but I did not try it. The maid changed my room everyday. I think she did a really good job. Supplies are filled up and floor is vaccumed everyday as well. The wall is not thick enough so that I can hear the cross room talking, and the noise when the maids vaccum the floor in the morning. The nice catch is theres an ice room located at each floor. I did not try the restaurant, Nix nor the bar. I did not take advantage of the concierge as well. Don't know if hes helpful or not. There are some fitness facilities but they are available for some specific guests only. Theres no swimming pool. The location is great. Half block to NMA and 3 blocks to Oak Street beach. 4 blocks to Red line station and plenty of bus stops close by. Overall, the service is great but the hotel is small. With only $55 a night, I will definitely stay there again. I am not sure it deserves a 4* or not, maybe 3 1/2* since it has nothing special.

  7. I just bought the tickets at southwest with the 15% off coupon code. It works on the fun fare (the lowest fare on my route) as well. Thanks all for the tips.
  8. Thanks for your response. I am kinda flexible with the date, depart on 8/9, 8/10 or 8/11, and come back on 8/15, 8/16 or 8/17. Also I am flexible with the airports, it does not matter with me from LGA, JFK or ISP to ORD or MDW. I also tried Orbitz and it gave me the same $265 price range. For Priceline bid, I bid up to $150 and still no luck. Hotwire offers me $235. Delta and those other major airlines seem that they don't have any promotion for this route so far. Thats why I think Southwest gave me the best fare so far, $367 for 2 tickets. Since I am only a student, I would like to save some money out there. Or do you have any suggestion? Thanks in advance.
  9. I need 2 tickets from NY to Chicago in mid August, the best fare I found so far is Southwest airline with the 15% off coupon code. The total price comes up as $367.42 including taxes and fees. Do you guys think I can do better than that later? Or should I wait until theres more promotion? Please advise. Thanks.

  12. This bid was placed in October 14, 2002. I stayed there only two nights. Check in date: 11/23/02 Check out date: 11/25/02 Your offer price: $35 # of rooms: 1 # of nights: 2 Subtotal: $70 Processing fee: $5.95 Local taxes and fees: 8.76 Total charges: $84.71
  13. I got this hotel bidding at $42. Its a nice standard 3* hotel and it locates in the Old Town. I stayed there for only 1 night back in November 2002. The lobby is big and nicely decorated. The check in was fast, the staff were nice with no mention of Priceline. I got a room located on a very high floor (which I forgot) and its for Royal Crown Plaza members. The room is standard with 2 double beds and other features. The hotel has a small pool. But during my stay, it was in renovation. The check out was fast too. Since I missed the greyhound bus going back to South Beach, Miami, I went back to the hotel and asked them to store my luggage and told them the next bus was 5 hours later. And they were nice to do that for me even though I already checked out. Overall, I would recommend people to stay there.
  14. This is a new, young and hip hotel in south beach. I paid $46 a night total 4 nights from 11/27/02-11/30/02 there. Its a small hotel with only 46 rooms just like most of the hotels on Collins Ave. The hotel has a very dim light which makes it looks like a pub. The bar and the front desk are located on the first floor. It is not a standard chain hotel. There are no bellman. The guy at the front desk was really nice. We checked in really late at around 12am midnight but still there were people drinking at the bar. My friend and I were first sent to a small room (on 2nd floor) which TV was not working. We immediately called downstairs and the guy at the front desk came up swiftly and apologized. He soon then helped us to change a room. The 2nd floor lobby is really really dark, the room numbers on the wall can hardly be seen. Everytime I came back from outside, I had my key ready before entering the second floor because you will not able to find your key at that ray of light. My rooom was small as well. But the way they decorated it is nice and trendy. Its not like other chain hotels. The room has a small fridge with liquors filled up. I like the bathrooom the most even though there's no tub. Its a stand up shower, instead of using tiles on the wall, its a big big mirror so you can watch yourself while taking a shower. Feather pillow and blankets, iron and iron board, just like other hotels. The TV is small, too. The location is convenient. Just 3 blocks away from the South Beach. Hotel Chelsea provides free breakfast and free drink at 7-8pm everyday. Don't expect too much for the help yourself breakfast because theres only few croisssants and cookies to choose from. I did take advantage of the free vodka with fruit juice every night. But you may want to tip the bartender for better service. The front desk staff is really nice and helpful. If you want to go to a specific club, you just let them know and they will get you a VIP pass. I asked about the price list for the beer and soda in my room, the front desk guy told me that I could refill them from the drug store across the street before the maid changes the room. This hotel does not have a swimming pool. And I think its not suitable for people with kids. Overall, its a nice standard 3* hotel with the price I paid.
  15. Oh, I see now, b/c last time I bidded at PL was back in November 2002. I guess PL changed their policy. Thanks for telling. So, is "the variable fee" only occur in bidding hotels? Or its now happen in both airfare and hotels? Because I want to bid for air at PL too. Is there any standard fee they will charge in air now? Thanks in advance.
  16. Hi all, this site was mentioned in FW and I just successfully bidded a 4* Millennium Knickerbocker at NMA for 4 nights, 8/11-8/15. With the $10 hotel bonus, I first tried to bid at $45 with no luck, added Skokie with 5 bucks, and failed. Then added Evanston with another 5 bucks and got it. Iam so happy with the price. Your offer price: $55.00 # of rooms: 1 # of nights: 4 Subtotal: $220.00 Taxes: 36.13 PL service fees: 5.95 Total charges: $262.08 Now I have one question, why the taxes is calculated based on 4 nights of my offer price $220. instead of the actual PL bidded price $65? I am confused. Anyone knows? This site is informative too, I will post more with my successful bids later. Thanks
