  2. I'm going to New York for my birthday, and decided to splurge and stick with bidding for 4* hotels. Not a fan of Times Square and didn't was downtown, so I kept my bids limited to MTE, UMT-CPS, and LMT. All three of those zones were pretty much equal in my mind, so I played around with this bidding strategy: Took me a little over a week to bid this ... $110 for CPS-rejected Started new bid $110 for MTE-rejected Started new bid $110 for MTS-rejected Added free rebid to each bid and bid $120 for CPS-rejected $120 for MTE-rejected $120 for MTS-rejected Added other free rebid to each bid and bid $130 for CPS-rejected $130 for MTE-rejected $130 for MTS-rejected Went back to CPS bid and added MTE $140 for CPS, MTE-rejected $140 for MTS-rejected Added CPS and MTE to the MTS bid $150 for MTS, MTE, CPS-rejected At this point I was locked out ... so I took the time to mull over if I wanted to lower to 3* and save some money or feed my dreams of waking up in 4* in Manhattan on my birthday. Well the dream won out ... Repeated strategy ... $150 for CPS-rejected $150 for MTE-rejected $150 for MTS-rejected At this point I knew my limit was $170 so I just added MTE and MTS to the CPS bid. $160 for CPS, MTE, MTS-counter offer to raise bid $25 As I was getting closer and had two free rebids to hit the $170 limit I rejected the counter offer and bid: $165 for CPS, MTE, MTS + free rebid-rejected $170 for CPS, MTE, MTS + both free rebids-VICTORY! Lowest rate for the Barclay on the Intercontinental website was $237 for Saturday and $294 for Sunday night. Hotwires rates were all well over $200 a night. Overall I'm pleased. Rate Information: Your Offer Price: $170.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $340.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $65.94 Total Charges: $405.94
  3. I know I didn't get the best deal on this one, but it appears to be the first successful bid in Belfast. A bid of $75 was rejected and pressed for time I rebid at $100/night. Rooms were going for

  16. I was saying that my MONTHLY rent is less than three times the daily rate of $318. So, certainly not a bargin. $800 a month in the Back Bay is pretty darn good.
  17. I'd still bother with the card. You are supposed to receive points for additional room charges. If they refuse to enter it in your record, I'll call up HHonors and let them know. When I've had snotty desk clerks tell me that my reservation isn't valid to earn HHonors points, I always point out that I am entitled to earn points for the meals I plan to charge to my room.
  18. Not seriously considering the hotel, just curious and thought it was distinct enough that we might be able to determine what is was. Look like you can rooms at the Eliot on that night (including suites) for less than $318. I think I'll stick to my new apartment, three blocks from the Eliot where I can get a whole month for less than three times that price :)
  19. Normally I wouldn't post a bid this old, but it's a hotel that's not on the list yet. Note, when I stayed here the hotel was a 3* and Sheraton owned. I know of one other person who received this hotel as a 4* via Priceline. Looking at the hotel's website (http://www.lesoleilhotel.com/) and checking Sheraton's website would indicate that hotel is no longer part of the Starwood Family. 25. Bidding History: Got this hotel on the first bid, though I don't think it was much of an overbid. Your Offer Price: $50.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 5 Subtotal: $500.00 (US dollars) Processing Fee ($5.95 per room): $11.90 (US dollars) Local Taxes and Fees: $24.80 (US dollars) Total Charges: $536.70 (US dollars) Lowest rate on Hilton.com was $176/night for a Murphy Bed room.
