  1. I always use Hotwire or direct book with hotel. I don't particularly like Priceline. In any case, I don't think I'll need any other assistance with an Arlington hotel. I just reserved a Howard Johnson Express within very close walking distance to Ameriquest Field for a measly $56.98 per night. This rate includes parking. This is about half the price of the other 2 hotels that are walking distance from the ballpark, The Courtyard by Marriott, and the Wyndham Arlington DFW South. If you have any info on those two hotels for about the same price as the HO JO, I might be interested in investigating further. Thanks for your reply.
  2. Hello again. Hotwire lists a 4-star hotel in downtown Atlanta (Atlanta-in-town) for $79 per night for 7/28 - 8/1/06. Amenities are : restaurant(s), business center and it is listed as a Best Value. I thought it was the Omni Hotel at the CNN Center but it doesn't match your pinned list exactly. You have it as a Customer Favorite and Hotwire has it as a Best Value. Do you think this is still the Omni, or do you have another idea as to which hotel this might be? Once again, thank you in advance.
  3. Looking for any assistance anyone can give on any Arlington hotels. Would like to be near Ameriquest Field. Very little, if any, info on Arlington hotels on this site to date. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  4. Just booked the Quality Inn Airport Buffalo NY on Hotwire for $40 for one night 7/23/06. Total cost with taxes and fees was $52.69. Hotels website lists same room for $99 + taxes and fees ($89 + taxes and fees for AAA). Amenities listed on Hotwire were : Airport shuttle Complimentary breakfast Pool(s) Fitness center Hi-speed Internet access Hotel is basically across the street from the airport and the hotel provides a shuttle to the airport, so if you have an early flight like I do (7:00 AM), you can return your rental car the night before. It's funny how Hotwire changes the price minute-by-minute. I searched for a room and got a price of $42 per night. By the time I logged in to purchase it, it was down to $40. Now I'll be able to afford the Sunday paper for my flight to Arlington that day. By the way, I didn't see any Arlington, TX hotels listed on the pinned list. Does anyone have any guidance for that area? Thanks again, Walter
  5. Hello again thereuare! I need 1 night near the Buffalo airport on 7/23/06. On Hotwire there is a 2-star available for $41. Amenities are airport shuttle, complimentary breakfast, pool(s), fitness center, hi-speed Internet access. Any help identifying this hotel would be appreciated. I hoping to be as near to the airport as possible. Thanks in advance. Walter
  6. Once again, BetterBidding.com rules the discount hotel industry. Thanks to byeloe's unsolicited but very welcome advice, I just booked the Sheraton Centre Toronto for $65 per night. Total for 3 nights including taxes and fees was $231.97. About half of what I figured I might have to spend for a lesser quality hotel. Listed on Hotwire as : Customer Favorite Best Value restaurant (s) pool (s) fitness center spa services business center Same room on hotel's website was approx $213 per night (U.S. dollars), on Orbitz it was approx $190 per night and on Travelocity"]Travelocity it was approx $184 per night. I couldn't be happier. Another plus is that the hotel is walking distance (approx 1 mile) from the Rogers Centre. Should save me a few dollars on the exorbitant parking fees (since I won't have to use in-and-out privledges). Once again I cant' thank byeloe, thereuare and this whole board in general for being here for the budget traveler. I be back in a few days to try to score 4 nights in Atlanta at the end of July pretty soon. I hope that my small donation will help to keep this site up-and-running. Message to anyone who has been helped by this board saving $100's of dollars or more. A small donation via PayPal will help keep this website running. I write this of my own opinion. Thanks again, everyone. Walter
  7. Thanks for your advice. If it is indeed the Sheraton, that sounds like a great deal. I have to wait on my EasyClickTravel request before I go for the Sheraton (which is now $65 @ night), otherwise, I could get stuck with two rooms. If it's still there after EasyClickTravel denies my request (as I expect), I'll definately go for it. I'm also still waiting for thereuare's other idea. I expect he'll post at his usual 2:30 AM time. Hopefully, I'll have my room by Monday evening. I know it sounds like a rush for a July trip, but with the high cost of Toronto hotel rooms and the Yankees being in town, I get the feeling that the affordable rooms are going to be eaten up quickly. Once again, Byeloe, I appreciate your advice and input. Walter
  8. Hello again. After some quick research, I was able to surmise that the hotel on EasyClickTravel was The Fairmount Royal York on 100 Front Street West in downtown Toronto. When I tried to check the prices on the hotel website for my dates, it said there were no rooms available. So I went back a couple of weeks and saw that the room rate they offer for the same Thursday to Sunday timeframe was $349 per night. Tried the same dates (two weeks before I actually need the room) on Expedi and got $225 per night. So this rate of $70.20 per night from EasyClickTravel for the actual dates that I needed sounded too good to be true. :) I proceded to make my reservation through EasyClickTravel when I got the BAD NEWS. They say that because this is such a great rate, that my reservation is only a request, and that they will get back to me within 48 hours to let me know if I actually get the room for the listed price. Considering the fact that the hotels website said that my dates weren't available at any price, I'm assuming that I'll get the bad news pretty quickly. :) I'm very dissappointed in EasyClickTravel because you don't get the information that this is only a request until you are halfway through the process, and at that point, you are already overtly excited that you are going to get an unbelievable deal. In any case, if my request should slip through the cracks and be accepted, I will be very happy. Assuming that it will be rejected though, I'll still ask you to proceed with the idea that you said that you might have for a Hotwire hotel in Toronto (downtown). Thanks again Steve. Walter
  9. Stayed at the Allegro in August of 2005 for 4 nights. Paid approx $80 per night thru Hotwire. :o Terrific value for the money. Excellent house staff. Terrific location. :) One major problem: DO NOT let them give you a room near the elevators. They are old and incredibly noisy. If your a lite or average sleeper, and your within 2 or 3 rooms of these dinosaurs, you won't sleep through the night. I complained after the first night and was moved much further down the hall and from that point on was extremely happy with this hotel. Subway is only a couple of blocks away. Just across the street is a great diner for breakfast. CVS is only a block or so away. The Lion King show is across the street from the front entrance. If your on a budget, you don't even need a rent-a-car. Subway from airport leaves you off only about 6 blocks from hotel and downtown area. Subways, buses and walking can get you everywhere else. :) CHICAGO, the best metropolitan city that I have ever visited !!!!!!!!!!
  10. I just clicked on your EasyClickTravel.com link and put in the same dates as above and was offered a 5-star hotel in Toronto (downtown) for $70.20 per night. Sounds like a great deal but it doesn't give the hotel name. If you have any info on which hotel this might be, I'd appreciate it. The only clue they give is in the hotel description which says it has 1365 rooms. I'm going to start searching around to see if I can find a match. I travel every year with my son to various cities on baseball stadium trips. I use your site to identify the hotels that I'm hopefully going to get so that we can be as close to the ballpark as possible, preferably walking distance. So far, we've been very successful in our endeavors, thanks to you. I always shop well in advance because when we are in American League cities we always see the Yankees, and Yankee fans travel well and tend to drive up hotel prices very quickly after the schedule comes out in December. I honestly don't know if I've ever used your links to make my pruchases in the past. I never really understood the concept of you profiting from me doing so. Now that I've spent a little more time reviewing your site, I feel a little guilty. I used the PayPal link to make a small donation to show my appreciation for what you are doing. In the future, I promise to use your links page (which I never really understood until today), to make my online purchases. Thank you for all your efforts in i making online travel shopping affordable for the budget-conscious traveler. By the way, what in the world are you doing answering posts at 2:30 am on a Sunday morning ????? Get some sleep !!!!!
  11. From the little investigating that I've done, I think it might be the InterContinental Toronto Centre. Thanks again.
  12. 4-star hotel in Downtown Toronto. Listed as BEST VALUE. Amenities are Resort, restaurant(s), fitness center, spa services. Any help identifying this hotel/resort would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  13. Sorry for the delay. Couldn't get reasonably priced tickets to the Jets vs Ravens game next month, so decided not to follow through. Sent you an e-mail about a month ago suggesting some changes to your site where people could post info on hotels after they stay there and you never replied. Walter
  14. Hotwire lists a hotel in Buffalo - downtown for $77 per night for 3 nights Oct 14 - 17. Amenities listed are restaurant, fitness center, business center and laundry (self-service) Any guess as to which hotel this may be?
  15. Tried dates 9/30 - 10/2 for Baltimore Inner Harbor. Found 3 1/2 star for $100 per night. Says Best Value and Customer Favorite. Also restaurant(s) and fitness center. Any guesses which hotel this could be. Nothing on pinned list for 3 1/2 stars. Also for same dates there is a 3-star with restaurant(s), pool(s), fitness center and business center. I believe this to be Wyndham Baltimore Inner Harbor. Do you agree? Thanks, Walter
  16. Thanks for the advice. My wife has been going there every year for the last 35 years. She loves the shopping. She has a room at the Bird-in-Hand Inn for $109 a night which is actually pretty good. I've just saved so much money using Hotwire that I figured it was worth a shot. My wife and daughter take day trips while they're there to Hershey, etc... Not for nothing though, if she had 50 days in Lancaster, she still wouldn't get bored. For your advice, there are plenty of things to do there to occupy your time. Hershey, the Corn Maize, the Railroad, Dutch Wonderland, Anderson Pretzel, etc... Thanks again, Walter
  17. Aaron, Thanks for the tip, much appreciated. Me and my son are going on a baseball road trip and are visiting U S Cellular Field this August. It sounds like you've been to the Hotel Allegro before. It sounds great. Any opinions on it? I already had the Chicago Transit System mapped out before I bid on Hotel Allegro. FYI, there's also a train that goes directly from O'Hare Airport to a couple of blocks away from the hotel for only $1.75 per person. We're only going to be there for 5 days and aren't renting a car, so this works out just great for us. The train that you mentioned also stops a couple of blocks from the stadium. Thanks again, Walter
  18. Reserved yesterday for 8/18 - 8/23/05. 5 nights at $81 per night. Listed under Chicago Loop (Downtown area). Amenities were : Boutique hotel, restaurant(s), fitness center, and business center. It's listed as a 4-star and also listed currently as a best value. I agree. Any hotel in the downtown area for under $100 per night is highway robbery. On Hotel Allegro's site, the rooms for those dates go for $159 per night. It's weird how the price on HOTWIRE fluctuates almost by the minute. Got it yesterday for $81. Checked about 10 minutes ago and it was $84. Checked again about 5 minutes ago and it was $82. Wonder what it'll be tomorrow. One question : How does HOTWIRE get such great prices at great hotels for almost 50 % off over 4 months from the actual date of occupancy? You'd think that these hotels wouldn't release these rooms for such a steep discount this far in advance. Any opinions? Thanks again to this site for providing such a valuable service !!!!!!!!!! Walter
  19. I totally agree. $74 per night is quite expensive for a HOTWIRE deal in this locale. This is a very busy time in the area though, so maybe HOTWIRE doesn't get that many offers from the hotels in the area. My wife already has reservations for a 2-room suite at Bird-in-Hand for $109 per night. I think we'll stick with that, unless something comes up between now and then. Thanks again.
  20. Looking for 5 nights 8/14/05 thru 8/20/05 in Lancaster, PA (Amish Country). HOTWIRE only gives one available hotel. 2-stars, restaurant(s), pool(s), $74 per night. Don't see a single Lancaster, PA listing on your entire site. Any guesses? Thanks, Walter
  21. Just got the Hyatt Regnecy for $52 per night for 8/23/05 to 8/27/05. Thanks for your help. Walter
  22. HOTWIRE has a 4-star, best value, in Downtown Phoenix (Phoenix Inner) for $50 per night. Ammenities are Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Business Center. I believe this to be the Hyatt Regency Phoenix at 122 North 2nd St, Phoenix, AZ 85004. Any input as to whether or not my guess is correct? Thanks, Walter
  23. Hotel was great. Got a non-smoking, 2 double bed room as I requested. I was very satisfied with the room and the location (near downtown) of the hotel. As for amenities, the exercise room was a small room with a couple of machines. The pool was small. The restaurant didn't even qualify as a deli. More like a snack shop in the airport. Extra charges are $10 per day for parking. And plug in Internet access is not included, it is also $10 per day. All-in-all, great value for the money. Hotel posted charges of $45 per night on my account on the TV screen and they were selling the same room on their site for $109. I plan on using HotWire again and again for hotel + rent-a-car. Hope this post helps anyone interested in staying in San Diego.
  24. UPDATE : Just tried accessing my Hotwire account and the information that you asked me to post is now there. They must have been in the process of opening my account. For the Holiday Inn - San Diego - Harbor View, the listed amenities are: Restaurant(s) Pool(s) Fitness Center Laundry Facilities(self-service) This is rated a 3* hotel. Hope this helps.
