  1. I don't know if this is the right place to say this, but I just wanted to say thank you to thereuare. I really appreciate the tone he has set for this board, one that is always helpful and professional. Not to mention, this forum has educated me on successful Priceline bidding. Because of it, I've managed to enjoy some wonderful vacations (while saving some $$). And isn't that what it is all about? Someone point me in the direction of where to click to help out? Thanks.
  2. Actually I was discussing this with friends yesterday... It's worked well for us in the past, but I know the time will come where we won't be as lucky. Fortunately this group would have been ok with different hotels.
  3. This did not work out as planned, I kept trying and trying to get the 4* Hyatt Penn's Landing, starting with a bid of $45, $48, $51, $55, $60, $63 and $65. Over a period of a few days, there were no results. We eventually decided to downgrade to 3* and lucked out with the Marriott Downtown on the second try of $48, the first try was $45. The room is listed as $159 on the Marriott website. We bid the rooms 1 after another (not as a 3 room package), and everyone got the same deal: Check-In Date: Fri, Apr 22, 2005 Check-In Time: After 04:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sun, Apr 24, 2005 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $48.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $96.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $21.41 Total Charges: $117.41
  4. Bid CBD at $63, was rejected. Added FQ and bid at $65 and was accepted!
  5. First bid was at $60 for CBD zone, added FQ and rebid at $63 and was accepted.
  6. Has anyone used Priceline for Dublin, Ireland? I've searched through Better Bidding and cannot come up with anything. However, I see Dublin comes up on Priceline. I hate to bid w/o some research first.
  7. Congratulations, you got your price of $65 for a 4-star hotel room! Check-In Date: Sun, Mar 6, 2005 Check-In Time: After 04:00 PM Check-Out Date: Mon, Mar 7, 2005 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $65.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $65.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $17.88 Total Charges: $82.88 We are jumping hotels a bit, but we are game. We'd rather save the $$ for fun and games :)
  8. Congratulations, you got your price of $63 for a 4-star hotel room! Check-In Date: Wed, Mar 2, 2005 Check-In Time: After 04:00 PM Check-Out Date: Thu, Mar 3, 2005 Check-Out Time: 01:00 PM Your Offer Price: $63.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $63.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $17.54 Total Charges: $80.54 Didn't see this hotel on the betterbidding list for CBD, is it a new one? Or am I just missing something?
  9. thereuare -Silly Jersey kids :) I just wanted to update that my group has gotten 8 rooms so far (all separate transactions) at the JW Marriott for the above dates, prices, etc. Viva la Priceline!
  10. The CBD zone was selected when I put in the $65 bid. It was countered with a "raise $17 now." The following day, I chose to start a new bid, only $5 higher. Hey theruare, I was on eGullet NJ yesterday and saw a theruare. Coincidence?
  11. Your bid has been accepted! Marriott JW New Orleans Central Business District 614 Canal Street New Orleans, Louisiana 70130 504-525-6500 Check-In Date: Thu, Mar 3, 2005 Check-In Time: After 04:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sun, Mar 6, 2005 Check-Out Time: 11:00 AM Your Offer Price: $70.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $210.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $39.66 Total Charges: $249.66 After my bid was accepted, 3 friends got the same results, with the same bid, and the same dates. Right now we have a total of 4 rooms. :) Thanks for all your help everyone!
  12. 10 rejected bids today, then the 11th bid of $65 was countered with a "raise this $17." Did not take that one. This was for FQ and CBD, 4*, 3/3/05-3/6/05. Still bidding..
  13. Ug ug. I'm sorry.. apparently my feeble brain missed that. Where do you see if these hotels are sold out? Perhaps I'll switch the weekend. If I try to build a Priceline vacation package for my weekend, the only two 4* hotels that come up are the FQ Omni and the Renaissance Pere Marquette. So.. if I add the CBD zone, I wonder if I will get the Renaissance Pere? Or.. I wonder how high I have to bid to get the FQ Omni?
  14. Ok with my new found better bidding.com strategy, I have bid $46, $48, $50, $55, $58, $60 for either 3/3/05-3/6/05 or 3/2/05-3/6/05. I am continually bidding a 4 star hotel (in the French Quarter). I keep closing the window and starting over - adding areas that don't have 4 stars or tweaking the date a bit and upping the price, etc. So far, no dice. I have seen people get the FQ Marriott for $46, however I am wondering if perhaps the rates at the Marriott have jumped w/ the warmer weather? Suggestions anyone? I am not ready to add another zone with additional 4* hotels...
  15. Right, it's the New Orleans Marriott on Canal - I see it on the Better Bidding list of possible priceline hotels for New Orleans, French Quarter. In fact, it looks like the only 4* in the FQ listed. I tried French Quarter, 4* for $46 (that's what I've seen other people get here) and it was rejected for March 2-6. What is this free rebid thing? I've never seen it.
  16. Thanks thereuare :) I will look into the Astor! Have you heard good things about the French Quarter Marriott?
  17. Ok.. amended to say, what hotels do you suggest in the French Quarter and/or Central Business District? This is a 30s crowd looking to have fun.
  18. Can anyone give me an idea about decent priceline hotels in New Orleans for March 3-7? We are looking for a 4* hotel for vacation purposes - so we don't need to be near the business disrtrict, etc. Any suggestions?
  19. We are home from our trip to Brussels. We had a very good experience with the Crowne Plaza Europa and are working on a review right now. It should be here before the end of the week. :)
  20. Crowne Plaza Europa Rue De La Loi 107 Brussels, Belgium 32 2 2301333 Check-In Date: Fri, Dec 31, 2004 Check-In Time: After 01:00 PM Check-Out Date: Wed, Jan 5, 2005 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $62.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 5 Subtotal: $310.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $33.51 Total Charges: $343.51 As we were trying to conserve funds on a trip that was planned quite some time ago, we canceled our initial hotel, and gave priceline a shot. Our first bid of $62 was accepted. And considering the trip is in 2 days, I think it worked out really well!! This site was helpful. Thanks.
