  1. I wanted a room with a gym close to the tube, and I was actually hoping this hotel was the express deal, and it was. Amenities listed were: restaurant, fitness center and pool, with bed choice available. The cheapest rate was $99 but I upgraded to a larger executive room for 20 euros more (bad reviews are mainly complaining about small rooms).
  2. Bid $99, bid accepted on first try. Taxes: $51.57. Total for 3 nights $348.57. I didn't think I'd be able to get 4th of July weekend for under $100, so I'm happy with the win. Though, I wish Hilton's self parking wasn't $36 a day!
  3. Used the PRICELINE link and won an economy rental at AUS for $16 a day on the first bid. Total for 3 days is $88.36. I checked Hertz with my husbands company code and a coupon and his rate was $25 a day plus taxes, so I feel like this is a good deal.
  4. Used the PRICELINE link and first bid at $60 for the highest category, 2.5* for San Marcos and did not win. Also added 2* and increased bid to $65 and won Travel Lodge San Marcos for a total of $157.36 for 2 nights. I was hoping for the Country Inn & Suites as it is listed as a 2.5 star, but this will have to do. The pictures seem ok enough anyway!
  5. Used the PRICELINE link and won this hotel for one night's stay on first bid of $60. I love this area of Austin and am happy to have won this hotel for a good price. Total is $76.63 for one night.
  6. Oh sorry! Yes, it was for that night's stay. Thanks for editing.
  7. I'm currently staying at the Red Roof Inn and decided to book an extra night using the PRICELINE link. I won this hotel for $65 a night on the first try. Good deal for a clean hotel in a great area. The sign outside says their rates start at $169, so not too bad!
  8. We just moved to NY from the west coast and we love Grimaldi's. It's a fun experience and I do recommend walking back across the Brooklyn Bridge. There is always a line, last time we waited about 25 minutes for the two of us. There's usually less of a wait for 3 or 4, strangely enough. We did not like Lombardi's at all, felt it was very bland and the sauce didn't have any flavor. We also didn't like the crust. My husband loves Saluggi's in SoHo and a newer and quite popular pizza joint is Keste, which we've been dying to try. John's has a good pie too.
  9. I'm looking for a hotel in San Marcos and noticed that the highest level priceline has for San Marcos area hotels is 2.5 stars. After doing some research on this site, I see that someone won the Country Inn & Suites, classified as a 2.5* on her win, but did not find it on the hotel/winning bid list. This hotel would be fine with me, but I don't want to get an absolutely horrible hotel. Are there any other known 2.5* hotels for this area? Thanks!
  10. I just decided to book something through the hotel's website. I found a tripadvisor code for 20% off a stay and booked the Distrikt hotel, which is #10 on tripadvisor for all NY hotels, for $199 for two doubles. It's also refundable, so I'll be on the lookout for a better deal as the summer approaches. Thanks for your advice!
  11. The hotel can say no to 3 guests when I show up at the counter with 3 guests? Do most hotels offer rollaways? Do you know what the likelihood of getting two queens would be? A rollaway would be fine, but I'm not sure that's an option at most hotels. I really just want a good rate, but someone sleeping on the floor isn't an option. I was looking at hotwire but found it's much more expensive for the dates I am looking at as compared with priceline wins I have seen on this board for July.
  12. I need a hotel for 3 people for 4 nights, from 7/18-7/22. I am pretty flexible with the area of town I stay in, but would prefer midtown east, midtown central, central park south or chelsea. Chelsea is probably my last choice, but I would be fine with that area. I'm hoping for at least a 3.5*, but ideally a 4*. There are 3 of us and two queen beds would be nice, but I'm wondering how to request something like this. Also, are there any bidding strategies anyone can recommend? I'm hoping for no more than $160 per night including taxes. Should I wait a few more months to book? Any help is appreciated!
  13. HOTWIRE has a 3.5* in MTE with a fitness center for $159/night. From past reviews, it looks like it's the Doubletree Metropolitain, which is really nice and in a good location. With all taxes, it would be $189/night. It's worth a thought!
  14. Thanks, it looks amazing! I know there have been some less than favorable reviews, but I've never been to SD and I'm sure it will be wonderful. :)
  15. $150/night 2 nights- Wednesday-Friday $300+$50 fees/taxes=$350 Amenities: Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Business Center High-speed Internet Access I've never stayed in LA, and I hear this is a great hotel. Couldn't be happier! I'm glad this board exists!
  16. Bid at $28, not accepted. Added a compact car and changed bid to $35 and was accepted. I got a quote from Avis directly and for pickup at SAN and drop-off at LAX was $450 for these 5 days including a coupon code! $175 total $39 fees $214 total
  17. I finally booked it! I made a new post as well. The Ivy 4.5* $129 3/21-3/24 Boutique hotel Smoke free Internet Pool Fitness Restaurant Business Center Thanks to this board, I was pretty sure it was the Ivy. I can't wait to be jamming on the rooftop until 2am! :) Thanks!
  18. I'm just curious, did your hotel have a no smoking icon? I see the same amenities for the dates I'm searching for but there is a no smoking icon. Thanks.
  19. I don't ever book hotels, I just like planning vacations I never take! I've never used HOTWIRE, so I'm excited to try it out. I'll probably wait a bit to book the hotel since it's not until March, but I'll post my results here when I make a reservation! Thanks for your help!
  20. I always look at this board, but decided to join and submit a request! I'm looking at going to San Diego for 3/21-3/25 and there are 2 hotel options that might be a possibility. 4* smoke-free fitness center pool restaurant business center high speed internet $89/night 5* smoke-free fitness center restaurant business center high speed internet $132/night Any help would be appreciated! Also, any idea as to how often Hotwire changes their hotel selection? Like, if I login in a week, is it likely that I will get the same options? Thanks!
