  1. Alternatively, lets say that I wanted to do the 15th-20th dates, what sort of bid can I put in to get a 3* (which I assume is the minimum for a a decent 'just to sleep' place in NYC).
  2. Hmmm. Tough call. I think I might prefer to stick to my original set of dates, and maybe upping my bid. Is 150-170 a little more reasonable ? Youre right, all Im looking for is a place to sleep in, shower in, and not be too far away from where my friend is at.
  3. Thanks again. I wont be able to extend my stay for a week, but could potentially shift it out one week (i.e. check in on the 15th, check out on the 20th). My friend stays in Chinatown, I believe. She's told me that anything below 23rd Street should be OK for me to stay in, because its all walking distance, or well connected by bus/subway. I was debating staying in Jersey, but the whole reason for this visit is for my friend and I to spend as much time together as possible, so that might not be a realistic option. What if I were to up the budget to $150-$175 ?
  4. Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I just wanted to be as close to my friend's location as possible, which is why I had suggested those two areas. Given that this is still a requirement, is there a specific area, or hotels, that I should focus on ? And is NYC always expensive at that time of year ? Would it help if I pushed my dates out by a week ? I did look into what appeared to be some really conveniently located hotels, but the prices were upwards of $200 I believe, and availability was limited ... maybe there's an event going on ?
  5. Good morning everyone, This is my first post here, and Im quite a newbie at using sites like Priceline/Hotwire for bidding/naming your own price. My situation is as follows: Im looking to be in NYC (Manhattan) for the nights of December 8-13, inclusive. Im there to visit a friend, so I wont really be spending a lot of time in my room, except for sleeping. I would also prefer to be in the Chinatown/Lower East Side area (this is the area my friend lives in) ... or anywhere in the Chelsea/Flatiron district. From what Im told, these areas are all quite close to one another and really well connected by subway. Having said the above, can anyone offer suggestions on what star-rating hotels I'd be best off with ? Im trying to spend $125 or less per night. Please let me know if more info is required. Thanks in advance !!
