  1. I need help identifying a 2.5* hotel on Hotwire with a pool listed as the only amenity for travel dates 10/11-10/15. If unable to identify, does anyone have any suggestions for cheap, but safe hotels near Disneyland for these dates? A lot of places are sold out. We don't mind driving to DL if the price is right since we will have to factor in the cost of parking there. Thanks!
  2. Travel dates 1/21-1/23/2010 Bid $45 on a 4* in area 2. It was rejected. Rebid at $45 on a 3.5* and it was accepted. Hilton Concord on Diamond Blvd in Concord. Not the best area of town, but at least there is free parking. Used the PRICELINE link from this site.
  3. I am sorry I missed this question. I was happy with the hotel. The room was very nice and had direct view of the airfield. We were in the room during the day and at night some days and noise was never a problem. Also, they saw I had a child and gave me a room with a mini fridge and a microwave. There were not enough outlets to have them both plugged in at once, so microwaving something was an issue, but easily resolved. I always made sure to park in view of my room, but I never felt unsafe. However, one night someone changed my rental car license plate frame to advertise some website called mixedchicks.net. It was really odd. The housekeeping staff did a great job - perhaps because I made sure to tip them well every day. It was really nice that they actually took one bed and pushed it against the wall and put pillows on the edge so my daughter had a safe place to sleep. They must have seen the toys! All in all, I would stay here again. However, I am going to try to use the board's PRICELINE links on this next trip because I need a cheaper room! :)
  4. It just occurred to me that I will also need a pet-friendly property. My cat has been barely holding on... but we can't bear to euthanize him when he is in no pain. Soooo, I guess I have to start my search over.
  5. Thanks for the advice. I actually love Madison. However, my husband's contract job is in Hoffman Estates, so that commute would be crazy. :) Hopefully he will find something full time soon... and out of this corrupt state! I will look up the hotel you mentioned and I will see if it is close enough to make it work.
  6. I lived in Jersey City after it started getting quite nice with all the new construction, etc. near the waterfront. I have been living in IL for 5 years. As far as L & J's, I remember the owner's son used to always tell me how he'd like to take me (and eventually my friend) to Foxwood's for a long weekend. Ha ha. He wore sweatsuits and long gold chains, which was always a very interesting choice. However, I couldn't beat that bar's pours. I complained once at my Bailey's OTR (2 drops of liquor) and after that I started getting a pint glass filled with Bailey's for $6 (or free, if that awesome dresser was there). :)
  7. Thanks. We thought it would take a year or more, but it was less than 2 months. We really upgraded it a lot and lost a fair amount of money, but at least we are out from under it! As long as the properties are *safe* for our 22 month old, we don't really care which they are. We also need laundry and the kitchenette for obvious reasons. I am going to look at the Arlington Heights area now. Thanks for the tip! By the way, I see you are in Hoboken. We used to live in Jersey City before moving out this way. We always used to go to Louise & Jerry's in Hoboken. Is it still there?
  8. We sold our house and it is closing on January 11. We are hoping to relocate out of state, but it is not certain yet so we don't want to sign a lease. We are looking for an extended stay type hotel that has laundry facilities and a kitchenette. It would be a bonus if there was a free breakfast or happy hour or something, as well. To begin with, I did a search for January 1 - 31. I figure I can always try again after that initial search to add on more time if we need it. I see a couple on Hotwire that might work, but I am not sure. Does anyone know which properties these might be? Schaumburg Hotel - 2* - $34/night - fitness, laundry, internet, kitchenette Hoffman Estates Hotel - 2* - $62/night - suite, fitness, laundry, high speed, golf nearby, kitchenette We'll make sure to use the links on this site if we decide to book. Thanks!
  9. Thanks for your input! I clicked the trigger on the 3* HOTWIRE deal because I didn't want to end up at the Holiday Inn in Concord by bidding less on PRICELINE. I ended up with the Crowne Plaza in Concord. Here's the total: Hotel rate per night - Hotwire hot Rate: $57.00 Nights:8 Subtotal:$456.00 Tax recovery charges and fees:$46.83 Total price:$502.83
  10. Does anyone know which hotels these are? 3* Hotwire - Walnut Creek/Concord/Lafayette - $57 Amenities: Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, High Speed Internet 2.5* Hotwire - Walnut Creek/Concord/Lafayette - $59 Amenities: Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center High Speed Internet Also, I am primarily going to be visiting the following towns: Walnut Creek, Concord and Pittsburg. I want to be closer to WC. Is there a hotel that is closest to WC that I could perhaps bid on on Priceline? I am traveling with my young toddler and hubby isn't coming until Thanksgiving Day, so I need a SAFE hotel with interior-only doors. My second biggest concern is price, since hubby lost his job. This is the first time my daughter will be meeting most of my family, so the trip is a must. :) Travel dates: 11/23-12/1. TIA for all your help!
