  4. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $55.00 + $17.00 Parking = $72.00 Subtotal: $165.00 Taxes & Fees: $30.39 Total Charges*: $195.39 Wasn't too pleased after I "won" to find out there was a $17 per night parking charge. I wish there were a way Priceline would tell us that there would/could be parking charges added. Still a decent rate, but adding $17 on takes a little bit of the "thrill of victory" away! I used the PRICELINE link to start the bid.

  8. You'll probably do better splitting your bids to weekdays and weekends. For Priceline name your own price, the areas closest to most of the tourist sites are (in preference order IMHO): #5: Convention Ctr - Capitol Hill area #13: White House - Downtown #8: Dupont Circle - Woodley Park #9: Georgetown - Foggy Bottom Stay away from #7: DC Suburbs - Northeast Area If you're doing name your own price, hopefully you'll get lucky and get a hotel near a Metro. The Renaissance on 9th St, the Grand Hyatt, JW Marriott and Willard are all walking distance to Metro stops. 3 star in the zones mentioned above should be fine. For lower costs, you can go to #6: Crystal City which has a Metro stop and the hotels have free shuttle buses to Reagan Airport where you can also catch the Metro. You can get all day Metro passes that are good after the morning rush hour (930a).Details about the subway at www.wmata.com
  9. DC is usually expensive during the week and inexpensive on weekends. That's a long weekend, so you might be able to do good splitting your bid into 10/8-10 or 11 and 10/10 or 11-12. 15. Hotel rate per night - Hotwire hot Rate: $119.00 Nights: 1 Rooms: 1 Subtotal: $119.00 Tax recovery charges and fees: $24.00 Total price: $143.00
  16. Hotel rate per night - Hotwire hot Rate: $125.00 Nights: 2 Rooms: 1 Subtotal: $250.00 Tax recovery charges and fees: $40.86 Total price: $290.86 Total charges to your credit card $290.86
  17. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $45.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $90.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $19.64 (USD) Total Room Cost: $109.64 (USD) Been bidding on & off for a couple months. I made bids of $39, $40, $41 and would get re-bid offers of $50-$52. Figured I would see what I could get with an offer slightly lower than those re-bid offers.
  18. If you're ok with staying at 2 different hotels and moving, try splitting your bid. You're more likely to win a decent price for May 14-16 over the weekend, especially in the White House/Capitol Hill zones. Another option would be to go to Crystal City. Metro stop there is walking distance to most of the hotels and all of the hotels have shuttle to the metro or the airport.
  19. Check out the Residence Inn in Alexandria. There are 2 locations. Both are walking distance to the metro.
  20. You'll get better rates in Crystal City or Alexandria, but it's a longer trip to Catholic U.
  21. Do not bid in DC Suburbs-Northeast Area. You could get a lousy neighborhood. There are no hotels within walking distance to the start/finish line. The closest would be Capitol Hill. In the past, Metro opens early to accommodate race participants and spectators.
  22. Great...I too won a bid at this property for a stay in July. I'll call Priceline and do what you did jerrysch. Was the motel portion at least clean?
  23. I'm a meeting planner based in DC. I have done meetings at this Hyatt. They charge $41/night for parking. A low cost and relatively hassle free alternative is to park at Reagan Airport Economy (Long-term) lot for $12/24 hrs. Take the free shuttle bus to the Metro (subway) station and take the yellow line to Gallery Place. Transfer to red line to Union Station. Use the station exit located towards the back of the train. Hyatt is walking distance to Union Station.
  24. I'm a meeting planner based in DC and I'm having a hard time finding any rooms at a decent price the end of April and beginning of May. There must be a citywide convention in town. You might want to look at Crystal City, Alexandria or Arlington, VA.
